Chereads / The Human Who Is Above All Races / Chapter 6 - Classroom

Chapter 6 - Classroom

As I leave the auditorium, I see the empty shade cast by a cherry tree and decide to stand under it, while I wait for my sister.

"Look how many different races I don't know, I wonder what they are called. I guess what they say about the world is true, it's so big you can't travel it all in one lifetime."

— Hey kid, how was the ceremony?

I turn to the guy talking to me and realize it's the guard who gave the order to let me in.

— It went well, I guess.

Upon closer inspection, he looks like a man of about 35 years old, with short, slightly wavy, brown hair and brown eyes.

— Hahaha, I guess it takes more to impress you, boy.

"I guess I have to thank you for telling the guards to let me through, even though I really don't want to. You never know who you're dealing with."

— Sir, thank you so much for helping me earlier.

— Don't worry, kid, letting you through really doesn't present any problems," he says as he grabs my shoulder. Now that I remember, boy, aren't you going to your classroom for the introduction class?

— What? I didn't know we had to go to an introductory class.

— Of course you did, kid, that's where everyone's headed. If you notice, they're not taking the path to the dorms.

— Thanks for telling me, I'll just wait for my sister to come out. I don't think she knew either.

— Suit yourself, kid, just don't be late for class.

After saying that, she walks away and leaves me alone. When I see the entrance, I notice that my sister is already out. Waving my hand, I decide to signal her to see where I am; she spots me and heads towards me. But something is wrong, even though she is smiling, she gives off a sinister aura. What is it that bothered her? My blood is running cold, my sister is scary with that attitude.

— Hello, little brother," she says with a smile, "did you have fun at the ceremony?

— What do you mean, sis? -I answer nervously.

— I saw that you were sitting next to a girl in the auditorium, BROTHER.

— Ah, so you're talking about Seraphine," I mention without measuring the consequences.

For some reason, my sister gives off more and more sinister aura.

— Hmm? So you know the name of that worm.

— Yes, we introduced ourselves before the ceremony began, as you taught me, sister.

After saying that, I notice how her face starts to get angry, but she keeps the malevolent smile.

— So they introduced themselves. Listen to me well, little brother, you can't talk to worms like her again, do you hear me? I'll punish you in the apartment when we get back. But first, we have to go to our classrooms, it looks like we'll get an introductory class.

— Right, sister, the guard who let us in earlier told me a moment ago.

— All right, let's go to your classroom. You need to make a good impression, you mustn't be late.

After that very scary talk, we headed towards the hall buildings. The path is still the same style, a sidewalk bordered by these cherry trees. After walking for a while, we arrived at the buildings. We could see five wide, large buildings with letters from B to F on them. We stopped in front of the one with the letter F on it and I looked up in amazement.

— Okay, this is your building. Inside should be your classroom," my sister mentions, very curtly.

— Eeeh, what do you mean this building is for my classroom?

— Each class has a designated building. They're this big to facilitate training.

— But wait, there are only five buildings here, and none of them seem to be your classroom.

— That's because mine is in the other direction, it's away from these. So I'm leaving now, wait for me here when classes are over, I'll come and get you.

Without giving me a chance to say anything, she leaves. I guess she's still upset because I talked to one of her classmates. Who cares, it goes away after a while.

"First of all, I should see where specifically my group is."

I enter the building and notice that at the top are the directionals to get to all the places inside. I follow the one directing me to the lounge.

"Umm, this should be the entrance."

Opening the sliding door, I see a large, if a bit old, classroom. There was a large black board on the wall. Directly in front was a desk slightly raised on a worn wooden dais, with long chairs that were arranged in a circular shape, divided into three sections by the aisles, as if forming a crescent, all facing the front. On the right side were large windows that illuminated the entire room. I notice that there are 19 students already inside the room, seated sparsely; the room does not appear to be full. I estimate that there could be as many as 40 people inside, but there are not even half of them.

After looking around the room, I decide to sit near the window side, right in the middle of the seating section. This way I won't be too high up, but I won't be at the front either. Once seated, I look out the window at the other buildings; from the outside, they all look the same. Could it be that their halls are also worn out like this one? I look at the blue sky and think that the clouds look very free. I remember when I was a kid I used to like to lie on the floor and look at the sky; it made me believe I was flying along with all those clouds that looked so free.

At the same time, I notice more students arriving in the classroom, but none of them seem any different. I guess the other races are in higher classes. I see a girl come in with round glasses, short straight hair, reaching her shoulders with a small fringe covering her forehead, black, and dark yellow eyes, covered with an aura of intelligence. She wears the same uniform as me, but instead of pants, she wears a skirt. I notice that she is looking for a seat. She looks toward the area where I am sitting and walks over.

"Oh no, what should I do? I don't want you to sit here, I'd like to be alone, maybe if I lay down I can take up the whole seat? No, no, no, no, I mustn't be so obvious so she won't be upset or offended. But what should I do, should I act crazy and say stupid things? There's no time left..."

— Excuse me, is this place occupied? -he asks in a sweet voice.

— (A little exalted) No, of course not, go ahead, have a seat.

"Why did I say that? I should have denied it, like I did with that girl from class A."

— Thank you very much, nice to meet you. My name is Akiyama Gisei, but you can call me Gisei.

— Nice to meet you, Gisei. My name is Hikaru, it will be a pleasure to be with you.

— Hmm? Just Hikaru? Don't you have a last name?

I dislike this kind of question a little, but I've gotten used to it. She, with a worried face, realizes that she shouldn't have asked something so personal and speaks to me regretfully.

— Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I don't really hold back when something catches my attention, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable.

I notice she didn't say it with bad intentions, she doesn't seem to be a bad girl.

— Don't worry -I tell her with a smile-, I really don't mind. The reason I don't have a last name is because I don't have parents. Don't feel bad about that.

"For some reason I'm being more considerate of her, could it be because I liked her?"

— Sorry, it just struck me as odd. I know, you can ask me anything and I'll answer you in return, how about that?

— Hahaha, you really are funny. I didn't think you were like that, but right now I don't know what to ask you. I'll have to think about it, but I guess I'll save it for later.

At that moment, the sliding door opens and a person walks in.
