Chapter 1 - 1. Piper and Lindsay

PIPER'S POV

I daintily pulled open my locker with exaggerated force from being angry at not having enough sleep.

"Sorry, can I place my campaign sticker here?. Thanks darling" A voice said, making me jolt sharply.

My twin sister slammed my locker close, missing my hand by an inch. She was chewing loudly on a big pink bubble gum that was obvious with the way her mouth was wide open as she chewed.

She ignored my face and slammed her wide sticker, "VOTE FOR LINDSAY CAMERON" on my locker.

"Baaayeee!" She and her disgusting clique consisting of Tiffany and Courtney matched off swaying their asses with confidence.

All three of them had on tight pink T-shirts with "Vote for Lindsay Cameron" stamped on it. Mom never lets us wear tight clothes but after mom died she just did whatever she wanted.

I watched her long blonde hair which was 'originally black like mine' in two braids hit her big butt as she walked away. I didn't have to be told she did something to make that ass bigger, they were originally flat like mine.

Lindsay's skin was also tanned and not pale like mine, our skin has been naturally pale since birth. My twin sister has changed herself so much just to fit into a popularity scale.

But she kept her blue eyes and didn't wear contacts, thank God.

"Those bitchy cheerleaders again."

I turned my attention back the guys behind me, Asher and Prime blinking my blue eyes at them, my two best friends that were not surprisingly boys because girls never got along with me, including my identical sister.

We used to be besties but now we don't even talk.

"Isn't it weird that your identical sister is running for class president. One look at that banner and all I see is you. Except with dyed hair, fake lashes, lip suction, enlarged ass, thinned waist and boob filler" Prime said, he always thinks he's funny.

Prime had a full head of long black hair as black as a raven's feather. His eyes were green under his thick glasses but you wouldn't know unless he took it off. I didn't know myself until he took off the glasses while giving me a ride last week. I'm sure I'm the only one who knows about his green eyes, he never takes off his glasses.

"We look nothing alike anymore, except for the blue eyes" I rolled my eyes at Prime.

"At least you can pretend to be her and get free food from the cafeteria" Asher was chewing on a Granola bar as he said it. He's a big foodie.

I cringed my eyes at the crumbs on the side of his lips.

Asher was always eating. That was why he was huge and large like a teddy bear with sandy brown hair and cute freckles.

I stared at my only friends with a smile on my face. At least I'm grateful for them.

"Hey" someone tapped my shoulder.

I didn't have to turn around to know that it was Micheal Lawson that was standing behind me, the smell of his perfume had invaded my nose already and I could just sense him anytime anywhere.

A blush rose to my cheeks as I turned from Asher and Prime to face him, "Hey Mike. Good to see you. I mean it's not that it's ever bad to see you.

It's always a good thing to see people. Like I'm seeing you now and I think it's good. Yes, good" oh my gosh just shut up, I stopped myself eventually.

"Do you have my homeworks?" Mike asked. His backpack was placed with one strap over his shoulder like always and he was clad in a sports Jersey.

His long brown curly hair was falling off his forehead in healthy boings. He was dazzling.

Like the star he was, he shone beautifully. It was an honor for a loser like me to get to talk to him. And I also get to do his homework which means I get to touch his hand.

"Yes I have your homework. It's in my bag" I said goofily, staring into his big beautiful gray eyes.

"Where is it?" He sang.

I could just dance to the tune of his voice. That's how amazing he sounds. My heart always miss beats when he speaks to me.

I cleared my throat. "Yes. Exactly. I'll get it."

My backpack fell off my back as I struggled to bring it to my front.

"Sorry" I apologized.

Some of the passing students stepped on it as I struggled to grab it from the floor. Luckily, Prime came to my rescue and retrieved it after just like three students stepped on it.

I unzipped my now dirty foot printed backpack with shaky hands aware of Mike's eyes looking down at me.

"Yo! Mike see you at practice" a tall guy, Garrison, another cool soccer player in my grade fist bumps Mike as he passes by. I smiled up at him but he didn't even acknowledge me.

Ouch!. I grabbed Mike's homework just as Garrison's last scent left and I gave it to Mike.

"Aw!" Mike frowned, "It's crumpled!."

"I'm sorry. It's not my fault. When it fell and those guys stepped on it, it must have…"

"Excuses!" Mike rolled his eyes, "Just be careful next time girl" he smiled again.

I went into a haze staring at his smile. Gosh he was so hot. His fair olive skin was practically glowing.

"Have you seen Lindsay's new insta video?. Gosh she's so hot" Garrison was back, he was shoving his big iPhone in front of Mike's face.

"I've seen it. She's my twin sister" I said out loud. Both Garrison and Mike glanced at me like I was insane.

They should be able to see the uncanny resemblance if not that Lindsay always wore heavy makeup and had changed her hair and certain parts of her body but I didn't even do lipstick.

"As if!" Garrison scoffed before pulling Mike away.

"Bye. See you" I called after Mike but got no reply.

"You know he's just using you right?" Asher said through a mouth full of another chocolate bar.

Well it's better than being useless and ignored.

"Class?" I changed the subject by zipping my bag.

"Seriously. You do all his homework and he never even invites you to his parties" Prime said.

"We just became friends. We're coming to that" I explained.

"Well do you know he's having a party tomorrow night with your sister?" Asher asked and he and Prime focused their attention on me waiting for an answer.

I didn't want to look stupid so I lied instead, "Yes!. Of course I do."

"Will you take us along?" Asher asked with wide eyes.

I joked, "Losers aren't invited."

They both gasped and I immediately regretted the joke so I apologized.

"Sorry. Don't worry I'll invite you to the next one. C'mon class" I stepped away from them awkwardly and walked fast to my class.

AP lit.

Same class with Mike. Hopefully we'll get another assignment and I'll do it on his behalf.

As I entered the noisy class I got no acknowledgement from anyone. The noise continued and not even a good morning came from anyone. I felt invisible even though I've known them all since junior highschool.

I staggered myself to a seat at the middle and pushed my loser butt to seat down. I stared down at my old jean and my old faded black t shirt. I wonder where Lindsay gets the money to buy new clothes and shoes and also campaign for president. We were very broke at home.

I did every part-time job I could find anywhere in town to feed myself and Dad. Lindsay doesn't even come home anymore and dad didn't care.

Our older brother, Harris disappeared two year ago without a trace.

Dad spends all his time and the money I gave him drinking, ignoring Lindsay and me completely. After mom died and Harris disappeared, he was just too broken to be himself.

As I thought about my sad life, Mike walks into the class with Harrison and Lindsay.

"Lindsay! Mike!. Garrison!"

The others in the class began to call, waving and going for a handshake or hug.

Lindsay passed beside me without acknowledgement and so did Mike and Garrison.

Unfortunately for me we didn't get any assignments in that class and Mike didn't talk to me anymore.
