Chereads / Elemental Warrior: Harbinger of Chaos / Chapter 4 - Don't Accept A Decision If It Does Not Come From Your Heart

Chapter 4 - Don't Accept A Decision If It Does Not Come From Your Heart

Inside a house, Nathaniel opens the door and walks inside. He closes the door and looks around him; a few family portraits are hanging on the wall, and furniture is fixed on its spot.

He walks toward the cabinet in the kitchen and opens it. "Canned goods. Right, I wasn't able to go to the wet market."

Nathaniel grabs one canned goods and opens its lid with a can opener. Using a small soup bowl, he let the content of the canned goods flow into the bowl.

"My favorite, fresh tuna." he grabbed a fork from the drawer and began to consume the tuna.

Water particles appear, and they clash as a water orb, and it seems to be molded into the form of a woman with a round face, her blue eyes are seductive, and her body is curvaceously covered in a long midnight blue dress.

She waves her long blue hair backward and licks her lip upon seeing Nathaniel.

"Yohoo~" she waved her hand seductively.

Nathaniel arches his eyebrow. "And who are you?"

"I am Maria, the bearer of water," she chuckled seductively, "I watched you for some time, not just me but with my brothers and sisters."

Nathaniel nods slowly. "Who?"

"Oh, you silly!" Maria giggled, "You're aware of the man who guided you in your fight? He is one of my brothers, the bearer of fire."

Nathaniel looks down at his soup bowl. "Darn it! My food is gone."

Maria takes a step forward, looking down at the soup bowl.

"Say? You want to learn how to catch a fish with your water ability?" Maria looked up at him, and her smile remained on her face.

"Wait a minute! Why are you here?" Nathaniel crossed arms around his chest, shooting her a curious look.

Maria chuckles again. "Silly, as your water persona and the same with the other personas, we can appear in front of you."

"Doesn't that drain my energy?" Nathaniel asked.

She shakes her head, and she's still smiling, with a smirk, she winks at him. "You'll only get your energy drained in 'fights'."

After departing towards their destination through transportation and little walks, he puts the bucket down beside him, and he's now standing in front of a lake. "Wait, why are we here?"

Maria is standing beside him, and she inhales deeply. "Remember, you're the only one who can see us in our persona form but when you summon any one of us, everyone can see us."

Nathaniel looks at her. "Wait, I can summon any of you physically?"

An old bald man appeared near Nathaniel. He chuckles. "Yes. To use that ability, you must be able to gain more experience and training, boy."

Nathaniel jerks and looks beside him. "Who are you?! Are you a persona or not?"

The old man laughs and points his staff at the young man. "I am Stone, a persona and bearer of the earth flowing in your body."

"Hello, pops!" Maria waved gently at him.

She points at the river. "I brought him here to help him catch a fish!"

"Ah! I get it. A bonding eh?" Stone touched his white beard while humming, "That's a good thing! Right now, I can teach him how to move a mountain!"

"Eh?! That's mad!" Nathaniel's eyes widened.

"Your eyes boy, avoid looking at us, others might think that you're crazy," Stone cackled while rubbing his belly.

Nathaniel lowers his hands, calling forth water and stone particles as Stone and Aqua are pointing their hands at him, aiding him in utilizing his abilities.

Nathaniel crashes the elements in his hand, and he creates a fishing rod. His eyes sparkle while he smiles widely like a child eating candy.

"So cute," Maria giggled while staring at him.

Stone continues to smile. "That rod is blessed."

With all his might, Nathaniel swings his fishing rod back and forth, and he never fails to catch a fish without any bait attached to the hook.

"AMAZING!" Nathaniel giggled.

Maria is staring at him while flashing as Stone is standing beside her with a smile on his face.

"You do love him, Maria." Pedro chuckled.

"Very much, pops! I always devoted my life to him, he's so cute!" Maria squeezed her cheeks while blushing.

In his house, Nathaniel prepares St. Peter's Fish with his knife; removing the scales, and the innards.

"Whoo!" he yawned after putting the containers in his freezer.

"This is crazy! 30 St. Peter's Fish," he sat on the chair, "but thank you, Maria and Stone, I was able to catch those fishes with your aid."

Stone and Maria appear in front of him, and she hugs him. His eyes widen but he smiles and chuckles. "You can hug me as long as you want."

Air blows gently in the room, and a man materializes from it. His hair is white, his eyes are white also, and he has a cone-shaped face.

His clothes consist of a white long polo shirt tucked in his black slacks, he is wearing a silver necklace with a hurricane pendant and a pair of dark shoes.

"He should be training," he said.

His words catch the attention of Maria, and she pulls away from her embrace with Nathaniel.

He kneels at Nathaniel. "Hello, young lord."

"I guess you're a bearer of air?" Nathaniel guessed.

The eyes of that man sparkle and he stands up. Nodding proudly, he wipes tears from his eyes.

"Eh?" Maria said.

"What a child," Stone laughed.

Nathaniel stands up. "Hey! Stop crying! Did I say anything wrong?"

The man shakes his head. "No, young lord. I am just glad that you guessed who I am."

"I am Hurricane, the bearer of air. Like all other personas, I manipulate the element that I resemble," he bowed his head, "all of us personas are here to guide and protect you."

"Oh, wow," Nathaniel stepped closer and raised his hand, "from now on, you and the other personas are my family."

Hurricane gasps and grabs Nathaniel's hand, shaking it gently. "It is the greatest gift for me to be treated like your family. To you, I always vow to be loyal and devote my life to serving you."

Nathaniel asks, "Wait, how can all of you touch me? I haven't summoned you physically."

Hurricane gasps but laughs a bit. "Because I use air to touch your hand, young lord."

Nathaniel asks, "So, uh, can I call the other personas?"

Stone steps in and says, "Only the classical personas like fire, wind, earth, and water. The other three personas are more powerful and they require you to train your body first."

Nathaniel hums and nods in agreement. "I see but what can I do now?"

Hurricane answers his question. "Well, you can train with us."

In the middle of a massive empty lot, Nathaniel looks around with curiosity in his eyes.

"Well, where am I?" he said.

A fireball manifests in front of him, taking the form of a man with a red large polo shirt covered by a scarlet vest, black slacks, and a pair of dark combat boots.

"You're Ash." Nathaniel's mouth opened a bit in shock.

Ash bows down and snaps his hand, and then a sword in a sheath appears on Nathaniel's belt.

He speaks with calmness in his voice. "I heard your conversation earlier with Hurricane. I guess, it's time for your training."

Nathaniel moves his eyes down to his sword, and he pulls it from its sheathe; leaving a trail of embers.

He spins his sword in a circle. "Wow, this sword is the one that I used in my fight against that man."

"That sword is made from my body," Ash said.

Nathaniel's eyes widen and with a shriek, he drops his sword while waving his hand in disgust.

Ash groans while shaking his head. "That sword is made from your powers. Don't be disgusted."

Nathaniel crouches and picks the sword from the ground. He stands up and chuckles while scratching his hair.

"Sorry!" he said.

Ash takes a deep breath, and he coats the blade of his sword in flames. "You are aware of this skill, right?"

Nathaniel releases a stream of fire from his hand, covering the blade of his sword. While Ash watches him, a memory appears in his mind causing him to smile a bit.

"He was indeed like him," Ash said in his mind. He was not disappointed more like being happy and sad in remembering someone who mattered to him the most.

Nathaniel swings his sword and smiles. "What is the next part?"

Ash runs toward a barrel, and fire appears around his body. He disappears, and a spark appears near the barrel.

The spark turns out to be Ash, and with extreme speed, he slices the barrel with his heated sword. Due to the impact of the sword against the barrel: a massive explosion occurs.

"Amazing!" Nathaniel covered his eyes from the occurring shockwave.

"Now, do the same," Ash told Nathaniel.

Nathaniel inhales deeply and runs toward an empty barrel, therefore, he swings his flaming sword against it but he suddenly stumbles upon a small piece of rock.

"Damn!" Nathaniel shouted.

He stands up and shakes his head, therefore, he tries running at full speed. He swings his sword towards the barrel and cuts it in half.

An explosion manifests after the slash but it's a tiny explosion. Ash and Hurricane slap their face after witnessing what happened.

Hurricane says, "I believe in young lord but this is something else."

Ash shakes his head. "Not bad, just needs more improvement."

With that, Ash guides Nathaniel, whenever his fire extinguishes from his blade, Ash asks him to do it again.

Hurricane joins them, educating Nathaniel about the wind and its direction, and they even give him quizzes to test his knowledge.

Stone appears and evaluates Nathaniel's quiz written on a stone tablet.

His eyebrows meet, and he laughs. "5/20?! Are you serious?!"

Hence, Ash, Hurricane, and Stone train Nathaniel physically; making him extend the duration of his flames on his sword, using his hand to release strong wind pressure, and meditating with the guidance of Stone himself.

Nathaniel is sitting on the ground while eating ten grilled St. Peter's Fish served on a wooden plate.

"I'm tired!" Nathaniel tore some meat from the fish he was eating.

Hurricane gently nods. "We do understand but you need to become stronger and smarter, young lord."

"One trains to solidify his abilities. If you will back off, you will not be able to polish your skills," Stone told him, "no man desires to be weak but if you choose to go in that path, we will do anything in our power to guide you."

Nathaniel puts down the last St. Peter's Fish on top of other meatless fishes on the wooden plate.

He touches the ground, pushing himself back to his feet with a yawn. "It's time for me to get stronger. I am going to train to control this ability of mine and not to join the warriors."

Hurricane and Ash glance at one another, and they nod. They both look at Stone, and Stone nods without looking at one of them.

"Kid," Stone gently thrust his wooden staff on the ground, "we need to talk about the warriors."

His words cause him to turn around, and with interest in his eyes, Nathaniel says, "What do we need to talk about it, gramps?"

Stone steps closer, and looks up at him. "We respect your decision and I am not telling you this because you are obligated to do it."

He raises his hand to his heart. "Nathaniel, warriors are the ones protecting this village.

"Without them, monsters will cause chaos but as you can see, it is happening. Countless persons are disappearing without any trace, and we personas believe that monsters are the ones doing it."

Nathaniel looks at his palm and shoots Stone a calm look full of understanding. Stone nods after seeing his reaction, and he gently pokes his chest.

"Listen to your heart, don't accept a decision if it does not come from your heart because every passion comes from the heart," Stone smiled like a grandfather looking at his grandson, "if you are not passionate about doing one thing then it will not work out."

Maria appears and she runs toward Nathaniel. He looks at her as she stops in front of him, and she straightens her posture.

"Beloved! I mean, honey!" Maria blushed and she shook her head, "I mean, Nathaniel!"

He looks at her, and a smile appears on his lip which causes her to blush more.

"I made this for you!" Maria brought out a necklace with multiple small pearls dangling on it.

The sunset has occurred which leaves the night sky to rule over the once bright sky. Inside a lair with stone walls, a stone floor, and a stone ceiling; Fang is standing near the small man near him.

"Like what I've told you, Lalim." Fang flashed him a look attempting to dominate him.

Lalim looks at him as he waits for the next words that might come out of Fang's mouth.

"I will be independent in this mission," Fang declared with a wide smile that can give anyone a heart attack.

Fang steps closer to Lalim, not that close but at a distance that Lalim can still see Fang's dominance.

Fang laughs disrespectfully. "Which means that I will solo the credit for accomplishing my mission! Now, scram!"

Lalim continues to be quiet, he is truly a calm and collected one. He closes his eyes and nods slowly before looking straight into Fang's eyes.

"I come onto you and propose you a greater chance of accomplishing your mission in a matter of time. Unfortunately, you deny my proposal but do heed that there are missions that require not just one but two persons to do it right.

"I will depart from here, but do not bicker any foul words when you fail to do what you are supposed to do."

Those words linger in the air before Lalim cracks and fades away like dust being carried by the wind.
