Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

POV JULIE

I arrive at college and head straight to the classroom; there's nothing for me to do outside anyway. I enter and sit in the first seat as usual. No one is in the room yet, so I opened my book and started reading. The bell rings, and people begin to enter slowly. I close the book, put it away in my backpack, and wait for the teacher to come in.

- Good morning, students! You all need to go to the auditorium; the principal wants to speak with you. - The teacher says before leaving the room. I grab my things and head toward the auditorium. As I enter, someone grabs the strap of my bag, pulling me back, and I lose my balance, falling onto my backside.

- Sorry, I didn't see you there. - Says the most insufferable and arrogant guy in college, offering me his hand. When I take his hand to pull myself up, he lets go, making me crash into the wall, and then he starts laughing, causing everyone around to laugh along.

Come on, Scott. The girls are waiting for us. - One of his friends says, and he walks away with a cynical smile. I get up and sit in the front row. I'm looking at my hand, which is bleeding from the fall, when I feel something hitting my head. I look back, and it's that idiot Scott throwing paper balls at me. I turn around and focus on what the principal is saying.

- Good morning, students. As you all know, at the beginning of the year, the college always holds a welcome party, and this year will be no different. However, one thing will change: this year, the party is on you. You always complain that every year is the same boring traditional party, so we will choose representatives to organize everything. But there's one condition: no drugs. Are we clear? - Everyone starts cheering. I don't know what all the excitement is about; it's just a stupid party like any other.

- Now, everyone back to your classrooms. - The principal says, and everyone begins to leave.

Classes go on as usual, and I love all of this. I love Medicine, and my dream is to help everyone who needs me. But not everything is a bed of roses, is it? Do you know the idiot who knocked me down at the auditorium door? Well, Scott Wayan is my worst nightmare, and by some twist of fate or not, he's sitting a few chairs away from me every morning. I pack my things and head toward the library, as I do daily after class.

SCOTT'S POV

Finally, the bell rings, and it's time to go home. Every day is the same: boring classes, annoying teachers, seconds that feel like centuries, listening to the teachers say, "Scott, try harder; your grades are too low," "Scott, do your assignments," "Scott, help your classmates with their group work…" Whatever, I don't care; I'm so tired of all of this.

I leave the classroom with my loyal sidekicks, and as we walk through the halls, everyone stops to watch us. The girls give me those flirty smiles, and I know exactly what they want. I wink back, making them want me even more. Just as I'm about to leave, someone grabs my arm. I turned, and it was Penny, the most popular girl in school. All the guys dream about her, except for me, of course. I don't need to chase anyone; they chase me.

- Scott, there's a party at my house tonight. If you want to come, here's the address. - She says, handing me a piece of paper before leaving.

- Dude, I can't believe it. Penelope, the most sought-after girl in college, just invited you to her party! - Leo says, astonished.

- I've told you, no girl can resist the charm of this guy. - I say, feeling confident.

- Oh yeah? Then I dare you to go for that one. - Jake says, pointing at someone. When I turn around, it's the nerdy girl I knocked down in the auditorium.

- Her? Seriously? - I ask Jake, unable to believe what I heard.

- What's wrong? Not going to take the challenge? - Jake taunts me while Leo and Mark watch silently.

- Of course I will, but what do I get out of it? - I ask him.

- You'll have a month and a half to make the nerd fall for you. If you succeed, my car is yours. - He says, shaking the keys to his Lamborghini. - But if you fail, your apartment is mine. Deal? - He extends his hand.

- Deal. - I say, shaking his hand. - I'll not only make her fall for me but also take her to bed. - I say with a smile.

If I'm going to do this, I'll do it right.

- You guys and your bets; one day this is going to end badly. - Mack, the most responsible of us four, says reproachfully.

- Come on, man. The best part of life is having fun. - I reply, and he gives me a disapproving look.

- But not when that fun involves hurting others. - Mark shakes his head, looking disappointed.

Changing the subject, are you guys going to Penny party? - I ask, and they all nod. - I'm going to get all the girls tonight, including the host. - I assert, flashing my most cocky smile.

Party time, let's go! - Leo shouts beside me. Looks like this party is going to be wild.
