SCOTT'S POV
After a few minutes of complete silence, we were in front of the nerd's brother's school. As soon as I stopped the car, she got out right away. I got out of the car and closed the door. When I got close to her, I saw a little boy running towards us.
- Sis, I missed you so much - The boy said and she bent down to the same height as him so she could hug him.
- Sis was also dying of longing - The nerd said hugging the boy who looked at me, noticing my illustrious presence.
- Sis, who is this? - He asked, pointing at me.
- Is he your boyfriend?
- No, he is NOT my boyfriend. He is just a classmate - She said, emphasizing the word no. As if I wanted to date a girl like her.
- Hi, what's your name? - He asked me.
- My name is Scott - I said, bending down to the same height as them.
- And what's your name?
- My name is Arthur, but you can call me Thur. It's cuter - He says, extending his hand to me and I immediately take it and shake it. Nice boy! He doesn't even look like he has the sister he has and he must be three or four years old.
- So Thur, do you want to be my friend? - I ask and he smiles widely. I need to earn the boy's "friendship" so I can approach the stranger, since she doesn't seem to want to talk to me.
- Of course, I've always wanted to have a tall friend.
- He says and I smile internally.
- So now we're friends. So, do you want to go somewhere cool with me? - I say and he immediately looks at the nerd, who until then was just watching, and she immediately looks at me with a disapproving face.
- No, Arthur. We have to go home - She says, cutting off her brother's excitement and mine too.
- But sis, now that I have a big friend I can't play with him - He says a little sadly.
- Mommy and Daddy want to spend the day with us and if we don't go they'll be very sad - She says looking at him who listens attentively.
- That's it! Appeal to the boy's emotions, you annoying girl - I say it just so she can hear and she looks at me with an ugly face.
- Okay - He says with a sad face and takes his sister's hand.
- Don't be sad Thur, another day we'll go out and spend the whole day playing. Even your sister will go, right Julie? - I say with a smile and by the expression on her face it's one of two things: either she wanted to kill me or she wanted to kill me.
- Sure. A whole day - She says reluctantly and I give her a smile of victory.
- Now let's go, Arthur. Daddy and Mommy are waiting for us.
- I'll take you - I say and Arthur lets go of her hand and runs to my side.
- No, thank you - She says and takes Arthur's hand, pulling him away from me.
- And don't even think about following us - She warns and turns around, taking her brother who just gives a little wave. I let them go. What could I do? I wasn't going to force her into the car, in case someone sees her and thinks I'm kidnapping her or whatever. She's stubborn as hell and something tells me she won't let her guard down any time soon.
But I've already taken another step, now she'll have to go out with me even if she doesn't want to and, sooner or later, she'll be in my bed and I can be sure of that, no one can resist me and she won't be the one to change that.
I get in the car, grab my cell phone and call the boys. I don't have the energy to stay locked up at home staring at the ceiling.
POV JULIE
When we get to the street where our house is, Arthur lets go of my hand and runs away. He hasn't said a single word since we left school, and if there's one thing Arthur does, it's talk. I go into the house and see Mom and Dad sitting on the couch, and Arthur between them, sulking.
- Mom, Dad! I've been missing you guys so much - I say, hugging them.
- We've been missing you too, dear - Mom says with a sweet smile on her face.
- So much affection, I think I'll spend more time away from home - My dad says, leaving a kiss on my forehead.
- No way - I say, smiling.
- And your brother, why did he come home like that? - Dad asks. I was about to open my mouth to speak, but the angry little brat decides to open his mouth and say something.
- It's just that Julie wouldn't let me go out with my tall friend - He says, pouting.
- And since when do you have a tall friend? - Mom asks.
- Since today - He says and buries his face in Mom's lap. - It's just that Arthur met a friend of mine from college and wanted to go out with him, but I said no.
- A classmate, is it? - Mom says with a little smile on her face.
- You can wipe the smile off your face because he's just a classmate and I don't even know if I can call him that. I think an annoying boy who studies with me is more appropriate.
- Good to know, I don't want my little girl flirting with those guys from college. They never want anything serious - Dad says and Mom immediately looks back at him.
- It's like Julie will never date, Richard - Mom says in a disapproving tone. Little does she know that if it depends on my failed love life... But the good thing is that I don't care, romance with a happy ending is something that only happens in books and I have much more important things to focus on.
- I didn't say that, Alice. I'm just telling her not to fall for the bullshit of those guys from college, I know that type very well. - Dad says and Mom snorts.
- So I fell for your bullshit? - Mom asks and I decide to go up to my room and let them discuss my love life, which doesn't even exist.
I put my things on the armchair near the door and throw myself on my comfortable bed. It doesn't take long for Arthur to appear at the bedroom door.
- Sis, can I stay with you? - He asks somewhat reluctantly.
- You can, come here - I say and he runs jumping on my bed.
- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get mad at you - He says and I hug him.
- Of course I'm sorry. And like I said one day we'll go out with your tall friend - I say and he smiles big.
- Promise, sis? - He asks pouting and with his eyes shining.
- I promise! - I say and he throws himself into my arms.
- You're the best sister in the whole world - He says and I hold him in my arms.
- And you are the most adorable little brat in the world - I say and he immediately looks at me.
- And is that good? - He asks with a confused face.
- Yeah. Very good - I say laughing and he wraps his arms around me again.
- And are mommy and daddy still fighting?
- No, I think they've made up.
- And what makes you think they've made up?
- It's just that when I was going up the stairs I saw daddy kissing mommy on the mouth - He says innocently and I smile. It's always like that, daddy and mommy never spend more than five minutes fighting, they always solve everything and that makes me extremely happy.
- ARTHUR, JULIE. COME TO LUNCH - Mommy shouts.
- Let's go, Arthur? - I say pushing his arms away from me and getting out of bed.
- Let's go - He says standing on top of my bed.
- Little horse? - I ask and he nods smiling. I bend down, getting to a height where he can climb on and soon I feel his little arms around my neck. I hold him tightly, so as not to let him fall, and we leave the room. I arrive in the dining room with Arthur still on my back and see daddy already seated and mommy and Susan setting the table. I put Arthur down and he immediately runs to hug Susan.
- Susu! - He says and she smiles.
- My boy, I missed you so much. - She says, placing the bowl she was holding on the table and hugging him.
- Did you know that I have a tall friend now? - He says, looking at her. Oh my God, it's worse than I thought. Now he won't forget this tall friend story any time soon.
- I didn't know - Susan says and sits him down in the chair next to daddy.
- Well, I do. He's also Julie's friend.
- No, he's not. - I say immediately.
We all sit down and have lunch, talking about the last week. Mommy and Daddy say that they closed a very important deal for the company. Arthur said that he visited a really cool place, from what he said it's something like a zoo mixed with a water park. Susan said that what happened to her brother was nothing more than a scare and that he's recovering very well. And after listening carefully to everything, I decided to keep quiet, I really had nothing to say.
When it was getting dark, Susan left and Dad, Mom, Arthur and I were sitting in the living room with a big bowl of popcorn and watching a movie that Arthur had chosen.
- Let's go to the park? - Arthur says in the middle of the movie.
- Do you want to go, Julie? - Mom asks.
- I'd love to. - I wasn't lying. Of course I'd love to spend more time with my parents and Arthur, even if it was on a roller coaster.
- Let's go, then - Dad said excitedly.
- Yay - Arthur squealed with joy.
- I'm going to change my clothes and be right down - I say and go up to my room.
I take off the clothes I was wearing and put on a pair of jeans that were very tight compared to the others. I put on a loose and baggy blouse that went down to my butt and put on my favorite Vans, a white one with little black stars. I put on my glasses and make a messy bun. I go downstairs and find my dad and Arthur sitting on the couch watching the rest of the movie.
- And mom? - I ask and dad looks at me.
- She went to change her clothes and it looks like we're going to leave here tomorrow. - He says and I smile.
I join them and focus my eyes on the little fish on the TV. When the movie was almost over, Mom appears wearing a tight green dress that went down to her knees. I don't know how I can be her daughter, she's so elegant and makes a point of getting ready. Lipstick and good shoes are essential for her. I'm kind of oblivious to these things, as long as I have jeans and sneakers, everything is sorted for me.
- Finally, dear. You look beautiful - Dad says and gives her a little kiss. Arthur immediately looks at me.
- Let's go - Mom says and Arthur jumps off the couch and runs towards the door.
- Wait, Arthur - I say and he stops. I take his hand and open the door and leave. Soon Mom and Dad are behind us and we head towards the car.
