Chapter 3
POV JULIE
I get home, and everything is silent. I head to the kitchen and see a note on the fridge.
"Julie, your dad and I need to go on a business trip. We brought your brother and left him at Melin's house. We're not sure how long we'll be gone, but I think we'll sort everything out within a week. In the meantime, your brother will stay with your aunt, so you won't have to worry about him. Kisses!"
Great, now I'm alone in thiks house. - I say to myself.
I go upstairs and throw myself on the bed, thinking about everything that happened at college. You know, I wasn't always the target of jokes. High school was different; not that I wasn't a nerd back then, but people respected me and understood that this was just who I was. But in college, everything changes, and the reason for that has a name and surname: Scott Wayans. He always annoys me, and I don't even know why he hates me so much. I love studying, and pursuing a medical degree is a dream come true, but every day at college is the same: everyone gives me dirty looks, and I'm the target of jokes and teasing from all sides.
I can't take it anymore. Sometimes I think about giving up everything and never setting foot there again, but then I'd be throwing my dream away. So I try to appear strong, pretending that what they say doesn't hurt me, but only God knows how much I suffer through all of this.
I stare at the ceiling and eventually fall asleep. When I wake up, I check the clock, and it's already eight in the evening. My stomach is growling, so I decide to prepare something to eat. I make pasta and sit down at the table to eat. I look around and miss my little brother, but I have to get used to it; after all, it's only a week. Still, being alone isn't a problem for me since I have to face that every day in my life. I finish eating, take a shower, and put on my piggy pajamas. I throw myself onto the bed and quickly fall asleep.
POV SCOTT
I arrive home and head toward my room, but a voice makes me stop halfway down the stairs.
- Scott, are you home already? - my sister asks.
- Come on, Hanna, I sent my spirit to rest and went to climb Mount Everest, - I reply sarcastically, and she sticks out her tongue at me.
I turn my back on her and continue on my way. I take off my shoes and throw myself onto the bed; I'm dead tired.
I wake up to Hanna's shouting.
- What is it this time, Hanna? - I ask angrily.
- Mom, Dad, and I are going out for dinner. Do you want to come with us? - she asks, entering my room and closing the door behind her.
- No, I have something more interesting to do.
- But, Scott, we're going to celebrate that I got into fashion school. - she says sulking.
Hanna is one year younger than me, and her dream is to study fashion. Now that she got into one of the country's most famous schools, she can't contain her happiness, and everything is cause for celebration.
- Look, - I say, moving closer to her. - You know how boring these family gatherings are, and I can't spend that much time breathing the same air as Dad. If I go for an hour, I'll explode, and you know what will happen.
- Okay, - she says, still upset. - But don't think we're not going to celebrate; it will just be you and me. I'll take you to a cool club, get you drunk, give you some drugs that will get you high, and then we'll go spray-paint the city walls. Now that's a real celebration! - I say excitedly, and she immediately breaks into a smile.
- Okay then. Are there many kittens in this club?
- Hey brat, what's this story? Don't even think about boys, as I said it's going to be just you and me, and boys aren't in the plans for tonight and shouldn't be in yours for the next thirty years. - I mean seriously.
- The most serious guy in the world spoke. I'm going then, have fun and be wise. - She says hugging me.
- Of course, now it goes, I need to get ready because a party awaits me and you know that parties only start when Scott arrives here. 'I say and she leaves closing the door.
It takes a few minutes and someone knocks on the door.
- Son, aren't you really coming?' You know how important this is to your sister. - My mother asks from the door.
- No, mom, I've already agreed with her that one day we'll go out to celebrate just two. - I say and she approaches where I am.
- Okay then, I won't insist.' Take care. - She says giving me a kiss on the forehead and then leaves.
I take a shower, put on jeans, a black T-shirt, and put on perfume.
- Beautiful and fragrant, party here we come! - I say looking at myself in the mirror, I take my wallet with money, my cell phone rest and the car keys and go towards the party. I arrive on the street of Penny's house and hear very loud music coming from a house. I stop the car and get in. I pass by the people who were already very excited by the effect of alcohol and I see Leo alone and sulking in a corner.
- And then Leo, the king of the party has arrived. - I say tapping his hand.
- All I needed, not to pick up any girls and still have to put up with you - He spoke in a huff.
- Really, none? - I asked, laughing in his face.
- Go to hell man.
- Calm down, look at that one over there has been looking at you since I arrived. I say pointing to a brunette who kept looking in our direction.
- I said - pushing him and he approached the girl.
- Scott! - I look back and it was Penny dressed in a dress that cheered me up just by looking at her.
- I'm glad you're here, do you want something to drink? - She asks smiling getting closer and closer.
- I have something better for us to do. - I say pulling her by the hand and going up the stairs.
- What's your room? - I ask and she guides me, entering the last one on the right. I barely wait for her to close the door and throw her against the wall grabbing her and raising her dress.
