The professor asked, "Dr. Ye, what are your views on mutants?"
Ye Hai replied without hesitation, "The situation for mutants is currently very dangerous. Around the world, there are protests against mutants, fueled by fear and prejudice from ordinary people. At the same time, many mutants are also wary of, and even harbor hatred for, ordinary people. This intensifies the conflict between the two groups. I believe we mutants are in a very perilous position right now."
The professor smiled and nodded, "You're absolutely right, Dr. Ye. Do you have any good solutions to this problem?"
Ye Hai smiled back at the professor and said, "I'm just an inexperienced young man. Isn't it too much to ask me for advice on such a serious issue?"
The professor, still smiling, replied, "Although you're young, your intellect is among the best in the world. In all my years, I've never encountered anyone as smart as you. Your brilliance might currently only manifest in science, but I still hope to find solutions for the relationship between mutants and ordinary people through you."
"Professor, you've been a pioneer on this path. Haven't you found a way after all these years?" Ye Hai refrained from answering directly.
The professor's eyes revealed a hint of confusion, as if lost in thought. He slowly said, "I explored this with Erik and other brothers and sisters. At the beginning, Erik, under my persuasion, had faith in humanity and approached them with goodwill, showcasing his abilities and cooperating with the human government. But the mutual distrust ultimately drove Erik to extremes."
The professor smiled warmly at Ye Hai and continued gently, "In fact, both Erik and I ended up at two extremes. Erik chose the path of revolution, while I have always sought compromise with the human government, hoping to peacefully integrate mutants into human society…"
Gwen nodded, saying, "I think the professor is right. Although we mutants have superpowers, we are fundamentally still human and shouldn't be divided."
"Exactly. Ms. Stacy, you are both wise and kind. However, many humans do recognize that mutants are also humans, yet they still view mutants as 'other.' Do you know why?"
Gwen shook her head in confusion.
Ye Hai, having a better understanding of this issue, explained, "Mutants can commit evil deeds using their powers, which is one reason. Additionally, many mutants have strange appearances that differ from typical human forms, making them seem monstrous. It's hard to convince anyone otherwise—often even their own parents may come to despise them. This is a significant factor in why humans reject mutants."
"Yes, Dr. Ye is right. Those with peculiar appearances are the most pitiable mutants in this world. They are abandoned by humans, lacking friends or families, forced to hide in sewers or deep forests, and many suffer tragic fates at the hands of human atrocities," the professor said slowly, his eyes filled with sadness.
Ye Hai looked at Professor X and suddenly spoke, "Are you saying all this to lead me to solve this problem? It seems you already know about my research on mutants. How much do you understand about us?"
The professor smiled kindly, "A lot. I know that both of you were originally not mutants but underwent perfect gene fusion to become powerful mutants. Dr. Ye, your creative abilities have the potential to change the world. What path will you take?"
Gwen looked at the professor in shock, feeling extremely tense.
Ye Hai was surprised and said, "So I can't keep anything from the professor, huh? Are you worried I might cause trouble?"
It seems the professor, the ever-kind person, has the ability to see into others' minds. Even if he weren't examining Gwen's thoughts directly, he could glean hints from the minds of those around her and draw conclusions.
The professor shook his head, "Those with greater abilities can both destroy and create the world. I can sense that you, Dr. Ye, have a kind heart."
Ye Hai sighed with relief; since the professor had no ill intentions towards him, he could collaborate with him.
"The professor wants my research skills to help change the predicament of mutants, and that's fine. I am now part of the mutant community and have an obligation to assist my brothers and sisters, but I have one condition." Ye Hai smiled at the professor and said, "I want blood samples from you and the X-Men."
He had quickly thought it over; the fact that the professor knew his secret wasn't a big deal since he was Professor X and understood the implications of his abilities. He wouldn't just blurt it out. So, he decided to use this capability to trade for X-Men blood, testing the waters. If the professor agreed, he could collaborate with him and quickly enhance his own abilities. If not, well, that would be it.
"Agreed." The professor seemed prepared for this and quickly accepted.
Ye Hai instantly felt relieved and immensely excited. The abilities of the X-Men were numerous and powerful, especially those of Professor X and Jean. If he could acquire their capabilities, he'd be in a position of significant strength in the world.
The professor added, "Dr. Ye, I believe you should conduct your future research on mutants here at our academy instead of at Osborn Industries. It is under close watch by S.H.I.E.L.D. If your research is discovered by them, it could bring disaster not only to you but also to the entire mutant community."
Ye Hai paused for a moment before finally nodding, "Alright."
He was already aware of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s surveillance over Osborn, which is why he had been cautious with his research lately. Still, as the saying goes, "You can't walk along a riverbank without wetting your shoes." No matter how skilled he was as a hacker, if someone was intentionally looking for him, they would eventually find something.
Originally, he planned to earn some funding from Norman and then start his secret laboratory. Now, with the professor's invitation, he decided to work here temporarily. However, he did have one concern: the school was frequently visited by Mystique, making it challenging to keep secrets.
"But I can only conduct experiments alone; no one else can approach me."
"Of course!"
