"My name is Ye Hai, nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you too, Dr. Ye!"
Ye Hai noticed the card in Max's hand and smiled, "Is today your birthday?"
"Yes," Max said, tapping the card, "This was sent to me by the HR department! It's a company benefit! A lot of colleagues will attend my birthday party. I would have invited you, but the list is already set."
"Oh, that's fine. I'm sure it will be quite lively," Ye Hai replied with a smile, understanding that Max was just being polite and not really extending an invitation, since they didn't know each other well.
On the screen, Spider-Man was still in action, heroically rescuing people from a burning building, jumping into the flames time and again.
Ye Hai expressed admiration, saying, "Spider-Man is truly a warm-hearted person; it's rare. Most people who suddenly gain superpowers either go down a wrong path or blend in as normal individuals, but Spider-Man is different. He thinks of others and uses his powers to help them."
"Yes, it must feel great to be in the spotlight," Max said, gazing enviously at the screen. "Spider-Man saved my life. He said he needs me, and I think I could become someone useful, even though I feel insignificant right now."
Max was a man beaten down by life, lacking confidence and presence, feeling humble and ordinary. Yet, deep down, he harbored an unyielding desire to be like Spider-Man, receiving widespread attention and becoming a valuable individual respected by society and admired by family.
Ye Hai understood this feeling well because he had once been among the billions of forgotten people, but he felt helpless to change such a societal issue. Even with his superhuman intellect, he couldn't find a solution.
Just then, the elevator arrived at the 63rd floor. The doors opened, and Ye Hai said to Max, "Oh, I've arrived. Goodbye, Max! Hope to see you next time!"
Ye Hai stepped out of the elevator, and the doors closed again. Max stood there in a daze, tears of excitement streaming down his face.
"He remembered my name! He said he looks forward to seeing me again!"
To Max, Ye Hai was a significant figure at Oscorp, as he was one of Oscorp's chief scientists, second only to Norman Osborn, the company's head. To have such a person remember his name and speak courteously to him filled Max with immense satisfaction and pride.
Ye Hai entered the lab and accessed the central computer, issuing a command: "Xuan Nu, keep an eye on the employee named Max Dillon."
Xuan Nu, a hidden AI he had set up, took the form of a young woman.
"Understood!"
Her cold voice responded, meticulously executing Ye Hai's command.
Knowing that Xuan Nu would strictly follow his orders, Ye Hai shifted his focus to other research.
Gwen approached and asked, "What did the boss want you for, Ye?"
"Did you forget about my agreement with Norman?" Ye Hai chuckled.
Gwen exclaimed in surprise, "Have you developed the cure for Norman's genetic disease?"
"Yes, I've already given the serum to Mr. Osborn, and he's cured now," Ye Hai said, looking at Gwen with a hint of pride. "According to our agreement, he has already transferred 5% of the shares to me."
Gwen gasped, "Oh my goodness, 5% of Oscorp? Mr. Osborn is really generous!"
"You should say your boyfriend is quite powerful—worth $50 billion!" Ye Hai replied with a grin.
"Alright, you are impressive!" Gwen complimented lightly.
"Of course, I'm great in every aspect!" Ye Hai said with a double entendre, winking at Gwen.
Gwen caught his meaning, blushing slightly, and looked at his computer data, asking, "So, great scientist, what are you researching now?"
Ye Hai grinned mischievously, "Naturally, I'm studying a matter of utmost importance to us."
Gwen was instantly energized, excitedly asking, "What is it about?"
"Gwen, what do you think is the important subject concerning the two of us?"
Ye Hai raised his eyebrows, and Gwen's face flushed as she realized what he was referring to. He was investigating her 'pure girl' condition.
"Master, Max is in danger!"
Suddenly, Xuan Nu's voice interrupted, and a monitoring screen flashed to reveal Max's situation. It showed him desperately gripping a high-voltage cable that was leaking electricity, causing him to convulse as he fell into a nearby bio-battery filled with mutated electric eels.
The eels swarmed him, biting and shocking him, and amidst the flickering lights, Max continued to twitch and scream…
"Oh my God!"
Gwen shrieked, covering her mouth. Yet Ye Hai's gaze was fixed intently on the screen; he knew that Electro was about to appear. He watched the transformation with great fascination.
