Today is the day scheduled to have dinner at Gwen's house. In the evening, Ye Hai and Gwen drove over to her home.
Gwen's house is a three-story villa, a common sight in America, and quite characteristic of the country. Gwen's father, George Stacy, is the police chief. He is tall and has a serious, stern demeanor, but he tries to appear friendly in front of his daughter's boyfriend. Gwen's mother, Mrs. Stacy, bears some resemblance to Gwen, also having blonde hair and blue eyes. Despite being middle-aged, she still exudes charm. She has a graceful appearance and is a typical housewife. She has four children, meaning Gwen has three younger brothers.
Mrs. Stacy quickly prepared the food, and then Ye Hai sat next to George Stacy. Ye Hai was eating lemon bass. To be honest, he wasn't particularly fond of that flavor, but out of politeness, he pretended to enjoy it. Gwen was pleased as she keenly observed his behavior.
Gwen's youngest brother, Simon, asked, "Dad, have you captured Spider-Man recently?"
George shook his head and replied, "No, we haven't caught him yet, but we will soon. He's just a bored individual who enjoys attacking citizens in the middle of the night. He is clumsy and leaves a lot of evidence, but he is still a very dangerous person."
Ye Hai chuckled, "That little spider has been particularly active lately, jumping around in other people's rooms without any clear purpose. All the recent news seems to be about him."
George smiled, "Based on his behavior, it seems he is stalking people, but he only goes after a certain type. He always targets those good citizens, who may appear rough and disheveled but are genuinely good people…"
"Are you saying this little spider is settling personal scores?" Ye Hai frowned slightly, thinking, "It seems Uncle Ben has already been killed, and now Spider-Man is in a rampage!"
"Yes, Ye, you're quite perceptive," George remarked, looking at Ye Hai with surprise. "I heard from Gwen that you're a scientist?"
"Yes," Ye Hai nodded slightly, "I work at Oscorp, researching genetic biology."
Mrs. Stacy smiled gently, "George, Ye is no ordinary scientist. He is one of the chief scientists at Oscorp and has recently made significant breakthroughs in research. He has obtained a 5% share in Oscorp just through technology investment."
It seemed that Mrs. Stacy knew a lot about Ye Hai, likely because her daughter has been mentioning him frequently.
"5% share in Oscorp?" George's eyes widened with surprise. "That's incredible, Ye, you're so young!"
"Is 5% a lot? It's just 5%, right?" Simon chimed in, looking around nonchalantly.
His older brother replied, "You little brat, you don't understand. 5% of Oscorp is worth at least hundreds of billions of dollars."
"Hundreds of billions? Is that a lot of money?" Simon still looked confused; he was too young to grasp the concept of that sum.
Ye Hai smiled, "I could achieve what I have now thanks to Gwen's considerable help. Don't forget, your daughter has been a prodigy since she was young."
Ye Hai praised Gwen a bit, which made her beam with joy, and that earned him some favorable impressions from her family.
After chatting for a while, George suddenly spoke up, "Ye Hai, Gwen, New York hasn't been very safe lately. If you go out on dates, it's best not to go out at night."
"George, they're not kids anymore; you can't treat Gwen like Simon!" Mrs. Stacy interjected with displeasure, thinking her husband was trying to prevent their daughter from being with Ye Hai.
"Will Spider-Man attack my sister?" Simon asked, grinning innocently.
Ye Hai and Gwen exchanged exasperated glances at George.
George shook his head, "No, you all misunderstood my point." He paused, choosing his words carefully before continuing, "Recently, quite a few young men and women, especially good-looking ones, have been attacked by beasts, and they have two puncture marks on their necks…"
He trailed off, his expression darkening, a mix of anger and disbelief.
"Are those beasts vampires?" Simon, who loved asking questions, interrupted again.
"Vampires? That's just something from movies and novels, Simon!" one of Simon's older brothers chimed in.
George's expression was grim as he slowly nodded, "Yes, they are vampires. I'm not joking. You kids should really avoid going out at night…"
"George, don't scare the children," Mrs. Stacy interrupted disapprovingly.
But his kids weren't frightened; instead, they were eagerly asking questions.
"Wow, are there really vampires? Dad, is it true?"
"Have you caught any vampires? Do they really fear sunlight, and do they sleep in coffins at night?"
"Do they just drink human blood?"
George looked at his excited children with a sense of resignation, regretting having brought up the vampire topic with Ye Hai and Gwen.
However, Gwen noticed her father's concern and asked, "Dad, are there really vampires?"
Ye Hai also showed interest; the legend of vampires is widespread, particularly in Western history, frequently appearing in novels and films. He hadn't expected that in this Marvel universe, such creatures really existed, and he felt an impulse to capture a vampire for research.
"Mr. Stacy, have you ever seen a vampire?" Ye Hai asked.
Suddenly, he sensed movement and perked up, feeling a few people rushing into the room, his body tensing and alert, fixing his gaze on the corridor.
"Kids, do you really want to see us?" A man appeared in the living room, arrogantly scanning the Stacy family, and laughed, "Well then, would you like to join us?"
