I found it hard to meet Shilo's eyes when we returned to the group. I wasn't sure why, but I felt guilty. As I was loading our supplies into the trunk, Shilo joined me.
He offered me a small smile as I turned my face up to his. I returned the gesture, and he began helping me unload the cart's contents into the trunk.
"So, I assume things went well?" Shilo's voice was light and cheerful. And that only made me feel worse. I wasn't even sure why I felt this way. I bit back the guilt and forced a smile.
I cleared my throat and tried my best to sound cheerful. "Other than a minor set back, yes. We managed to find everything on the list and more."
Shilo's brows knitted together. "Minor set back?"
I dropped the last case of water into the trunk and slammed it closed. "Uh, I guess the whole almost being bitten thing earlier freaked me out more than I thought. I think I had a panic attack."
