Jacob led us as far as he could through back alley ways and eventually, a small patch of woods.
"Here's where I leave you to it," Jacob said, as he looked around at each of us. "When you get out of here, you'll find your car keys under the driver's side seat. And listen," he looked only at me this time. "I'm sorry about all of this. You're right, Celine. I am a poser. I don't think any of this is right, but I'm too much of a pushover to do anything about it. There's a small tower just outside of town with a CB radio. Get to it-"
A gunshot rang out into night air and Jacob fell to the ground with a yell. The metallic scent of blood filled my nose. Jacob's been shot. My gaze shot in every direction looking for the culprit. Shilo and Avery were crouched down behind a tree and I had no idea where the couple were hiding.
"Well, well, well," a deep, gravelly voice called out from somewhere.
