My nap was short lived. We pulled up to the tower half an hour after I shut my eyes. Shilo and Avery would be going up to try the radio while I stay down in the car with Jacob. Unless someone died up there, I doubt there are any undead in the tower. That's the only thing that convinced me to let Avery go.
I was sitting on the hood of the car watching them climb the ladder, my neck cranked up to the sun. The warmth the sun was providing made me think of my dreams in the field and how strange it is that I can feel the sun there. I can smell the flowers. The salt in the air from the sea. That place always feels so real, I can hardly stand waking up from those dreams.
Moments passed by in silence as Shilo and Avery were inside of the tower. It looked rather large to be just any old tower.
"What kind of tower is this anyway?" I asked Jacob, who was sitting in the passenger seat with the door open and his good leg propped up on it.
