Dan's POV
Shit, shit shit shit!!! The bastard almost made me give ourselves away! I thought with great urgency as I pushed the tall guy away from me. He wasn't close or anything but he seemed far taller than me from the little distance between us and I was usually the tall one so this made me feel very insecure. He was obviously nothing to write home about except for his looks and height though.
He actually looked very attractive. Drop dead gorgeous even. Avory's description of him didn't do him justice at all.
Still better looking though. I thought rolling my eyes internally.
I remained glaring at him even after pushing him and as I stared at him, my anger from before was slowly rekindled. I know he wasn't responsible for any of the things that happened to us, including the school visit which was partly my fault as I failed to put into account the school's sense of responsibility over each student, but I felt inexplicably anger towards him. Maybe it was because I felt a strange and faint sense of dependence on him as the Taemoon, but I was putting all the blame for everything wrong on him.
At this point, some time had already passed since I began glaring at him without explanation and yet, the guy just kept staring down at me with this completely stupid blank look on his face.
What the hell is wrong with this guy? I thought as I waved my hand in front of his face to draw him out of whatever inert state he was in. Earth to Kale... He did not react. How, when I saw a faint light flash through his eyes, shock engulfed me and I stepped back in alarm.
What the actual fuck?!!! Why on earth is the fucking Taemoon awakening because of me?!!! Isn't he supposed to be fated to Avory?! My mind was running at a million miles an hour as I was stunned. I quickly snapped out of the befuddlement I was thrown into by the sick joke that was supposed to be our saviour. As much as I was surprised, the guy was probably in much more shock from the stupid look on his face. I sighed feeling I was really to considerate for my own good.
With a huff I walked away from the group going right past Kale, as Avory would always say, ignoring him.
I heard dad's emotionless voice as he spoke to the other people assuring them that he would call to inform them of Avory's situation when he had heard from me before returning his attention to me. I could feel his gaze on my back as I went up the stairs heading to his office. I wanted to speak to him anyway, might as well let him say his piece.
I sat at his desk as I waited for him. His office had always been a traumatic place for Avory even though she had never been in it so I automatically didn't like it either. I turned my head sideways to observe the office when I felt dad's gaze on me from the doorway.
The fast bastard. I turned to look at him meeting his gaze head on.
"if you are going to say anything say it now" I said to him growling. He just stared at me not saying anything, he just stood there watching. We kept on staring at each other as I refused to back down. Eventually, an eerie smile found its way to his lips and they curved upwards in a very unsettling manner. That was the smile he always had whenever he had discovered something advantageous to him and my hackles rose. What does the bastard know now?
"You might want to read the ancient texts again, son" he muttered saying the last word with a hint of teasing in it and I pursed my lips saying nothing as I watched him walk away saying nothing more.
What's that supposed to mean? Is he not going to mention a word concerning our treasonous activities? He's not going to inquire about Avory? My thinking was starting to lead me into thinking dad had something to do with Avory's disappearance but I knew he didn't. Dad was a bastard but he wasn't stupid.
I sighed as I stood up deciding to head to the library. Dad probably had a reason for mentioning the ancient texts and I definitely needed any information I could get at this point because our situation was just too messed up.
So fucking messed up.

Third Person POV
In the underground basement of a huge mansion, a figure sat legs tucked in the chest at one corner, nails scratching at the floor. The face was completely covered by dishevelled dark hair, widened eyes filled with insanity rolling around in alarm while muttering nonsensical words over and over again.
A short time passed and the heavy metal door to the basement clicked loudly signalling that its lock had been undone. The figure froze, a shiver of fear running down the spine and the figure brought their hands to their knees clasping them there as they tried to retreat further into the wall.
A beautiful woman walked into the room, waves of curly red hair bounced on her shoulders and forehead as she walked.
"It's okay child. I'm not going to hurt you" she cooed as she stepped closer hands folded behind her back. The figure growled at the woman pushing back into the wall but still too out of it to form any words.
"Stop resisting child, I only want to help you" the woman spoke again, her calm serene voice not unlike that of an angel. The figure in the corner, however, was well aware of the danger behind that gentle facade. This awareness slowly brought them back to their senses.
"G-go away" the parched feminine voice of the figure sounded as they looked up, dark auburn hair falling back away from her face to her sides. "S-stay away from me" she added ignoring the throbbing pain in her throat.
The red haired woman smiled stretching out her hands to reveal a small cauldron that hadn't been with her when she came in.
Avory's eyes watered as she stared up at the woman. "Just leave me alone" she sobbed as the woman came closer.
"But of course not" she answered her voice turning cold as she flipped the cauldron letting the content pour out in front of Avory. The dark viscous fluid sunk into the ground emitting green fumes in the process so the entire room was filled with it.
Avory quickly blocked her nose with her hands struggling to not inhale the gas. Her breathing had become erratic as she looked around frantically only to be met with metal all around. Not even a vent. She was amazed how she was still alive despite being deprived oxygen but was sadly reminded once more that there were no escape routes and could only try to prevent herself from inhaling the gas. It was futile though as her mind was gradually becoming foggy and her vision dimmed.
"Why are you doing this?" She managed to whisper as she began to lose consciousness. This was the woman she had once looked up to, the woman was feared by all, the woman even her dad knew nothing of and the woman who had once again disappointed her.
Said woman smiled calmly as she stared at her, "well daughter, you'll find out when you wake up" she answered, the sharp sound of her heels clicking as she walked out of the room was the last thing Avory heard.
