Chapter 15 - Chapter Fifteen

Third Person POV

It turns out the guy who was responsible for the Rodriguez, was Lucifer Andrew, Qadar's number one pet peeve. They had both been really close as children until a certain incident, after which things began to spiral and their relationship deteriorated.

However, despite hating him, Qadar was well aware what the other guy was capable of even with the whole being a newbie and all. Afterall, how else could he have withheld the huge news of him joining the community from Qadar except through connections. Connections Qadar was sure he wasn't ready to deal with.

That being said, Qadar was made aware how risky it was for them to remain in Kale's house, out in the open with no extra protection. He was also reminded of the kid's background and silently cursed at himself for taking too long to digest their situation.

"Lewis, gather whatever seems necessary for our investigation. Milo, get the kid from inside his wardrobe. We're heading to the barn" he instructed as he stood up grabbing his jacket along the way. Lewis and Milo grunted their replies before proceeding to obey the instructions they were given, Jerry following behind Lewis while the other three followed Qadar out of the house.

About ten minutes later, Lewis got out of the house, Jerry and a small black sack in tow and they got into the van with the other three. Milo proceeded to come outside as well, Kale's limp body in his arms.

"Boss, the kid's not waking up" he announced as he pulled open the door to the back seat of Qadar's car. Qadar frowned turning around in his seat behind the wheel to face Milo who was getting into the car with Kale in tow.

"What do you mean he's not waking up? Did you try smacking him?" He grumbled eyeing Kale's oddly calm and uncharacteristically unsuspecting face that was relaxed due to unsciousness. A prominent red bruise decorated the left side of his face and it was obvious the place would keep swelling. Proof that Milo had definitely considered and went through with Qadar's proposed idea.

Despite how hilarious the situation was, Qadar couldn't bring himself to laugh as the fact that Kale was still very blacked out despite having been struck by Milo, their toughest, spoke volumes.

Qadar huffed, "whatever, we'll deal with him when we get to the barn. Move out" Qadar pressed the ear phone in his ear as he said the last part, his voice echoing in the van's speaker as a result and Noah ignited the engine of the van driving after Qadar.

Dan's POV

It was already night time when I looked up. The moon light shone through the patio doors and the soft wind blew against the curtains forming billows of artificial clouds. A slight sense of peace engulfed me calming me after all of the chaos that happened earlier today. Judging by the height of the moon, it would be 11pm already. Precisely 8 hours since I had begun my research in dad's office and I still couldn't figure out what exactly it was that I was supposed to discern from the records.

'a reminder of my incompetence' I thought gnashing my teeth in self-depreciation. Why couldn't I just fix things? Why was it so hard to think up a good strategy? Why was everything so messed up?....

I slapped myself in the face to halt my thoughts. No point crying over spilt milk after all.

With that thought, my gaze went back to the thread binded book with dark pages that I held in my hand. I could tell from the worn out pages and crumbling spine that this book had been frequently patronized, albeit for an unknown reason. The words were clearly hand written and each division was termed log so it was probably a journal of some sort.

'pretty ancient and valuable' I'd have thought if it wasn't filled with so many loop holes.' I thought as my eyes scanned the book once more.

The lights in the room suddenly blinked and my body was frozen for a short while as everything turned black and white. My body gained its freedom and my colour vision went back to normal almost immediately after it happened and I threw the book down with the rest as I rushed over to the balcony. I got there almost a second later, just in time to watch dad's huge but inconspicuous shadow flash through the night sky before disappearing completely and my mind was filled with a sense of urgency.

'dad's planning on seizing the Taemoon' the alarming thought flashed through my mind as I stormed back to my space on the floor. I picked up the log book I had just dropped deciding it was important in some way before marching to my room.

On getting there, I dropped the book on my reading table as I settled on the seat taking out a miniature scroll from inside my desk drawer and rolling it open.

<__Damian's on the move>

With that written, I rolled up the scroll and held it over the candle at the corner of my desk and watched as it burned before turning into white fumes and disappearing. 'good thing we didn't go full modern' I couldn't help but be thankful.

Third Person POV

Jacob sat up suddenly his eyes becoming pure black before regaining their usual reddish brown colour. Lee sat up as well his hands moving to massage the neck and shoulders of the smaller man. "What's new?" He asked as he watched Jacob relax into his chest sighing, he didn't answer but Lee wasn't going to rush him as he felt he was in no position to. Jacob held out his hand instead and a tiny tongue of fire appeared before igniting completely as a scroll appeared over his hand before falling down on his palm. Jacob held the scroll closer rolling it open to reveal Dan's writing.

His brows furrowed and Lee immediately went to rub the space between his brows smoothing them down.

"What's wrong?" He asked making Jacob sigh as he lighted up the scroll in his palm burning it to smithereens. "The reaper is on the move" he answered making Lee raise a brow. "Things are moving fast" he commented and Jacob could only nod in agreement.

Lee smirked unnoticeably behind Jacob as a thought crossed his mind. "Nevermind that, we can't always protect Kale. He's the Taemoon so he will surely be targeted, why don't we let him prove himself this one time? If he's not dead by the time we're ready, we'll know he's worth the effort" he voiced as he moved his hands down from Jacob's brows to rest at his sides.

As much as Jacob wanted to protect Kale, it was merely for the sake of Avory who was suddenly gone and he wasn't naive enough to put himself I'm danger for someone whose worth was yet to be determined. He sighed as he nodded in resignation.

"You're right." He muttered making Lee's smirk widen. "We'll let him show what he's capable of" Jacob added as his head fell back against Lee reminding the taller servant that his master had once again received a vision.

Jacob Ed, of vampire lineage, was a living version of the oracle much to the ignorance of the clan and if anyone in the clan found out even by mistake, his head would be gone by the next day.
