Housekeeper: "I'll check it out right away."
It was late at night, and no one in the Jiang family had eaten dinner that evening.
Gu Nuannuan's stomach growled with hunger. She knew that if she went downstairs to find food now, she would definitely be scolded, so she decided to go hungry and wait until tomorrow.
She arranged the sofa, using a blanket as a quilt and a backrest as a pillow.
Her clothes were all in the suitcase. When needed, she would rummage through the suitcase, take out her clothes, change, and then close it and put it in the corner.
She had never used the cloakroom.
After changing into her pajamas, Gu Nuannuan placed the clothes she would wear tomorrow on the coffee table and prepared to lie down and sleep.
Suddenly, the door opened.
She immediately sat up from the sofa, looking at the door cautiously.
"Jiang Chenyu! Why are you back tonight?"
The person who entered was Jiang Chenyu, the other owner of the room.
He hadn't stayed in the new house since they got married, so he must have come to get some clothes to change into tonight. He usually came to this room to change his clothes.
Thinking this, Gu Nuannuan relaxed her guard.
She sighed and lay down on the sofa again, ready to sleep.
Jiang Chenyu looked at her in surprise, then glanced at the soft, flat bed.
"You've been sleeping on the sofa?"
Gu Nuannuan replied, "Yeah, so what?"
Jiang Chenyu was quite surprised. She was choosing to sleep on the sofa instead of the large bed. Was she punishing herself?
From their daily interactions, he hadn't taken her for someone who enjoyed discomfort.
He walked over to a separate sofa and looked at the girl lying on the long one. "Why don't you sleep on the bed?"
Gu Nuannuan, lying on the sofa, looked up at the man sitting across from her with his usual dignified expression. "We had an unpleasant argument on our wedding night. If I sleep on the bed and push you onto the sofa, you'll hate me so much that you'll throw me out of the window from the third floor."
"I didn't realize you were afraid of me."
Gu Nuannuan countered, "I'm not afraid of you."
"Then why are you afraid that I'd throw you from the third floor?" The arrogant business mogul was genuinely confused.
"That's ridiculous. I'm not afraid of you. I'm afraid of getting hurt! If I were thrown from the third floor, I wouldn't die, but I'd definitely be injured. Even a broken bone would be unbearable."
Suddenly, Gu Nuannuan smiled and sat up from the sofa, hugging her "pillow," looking at Jiang Chenyu with a grin. "Jiang Chenyu, from the way you're speaking, does this mean you won't be staying here tonight?"
"As if."
Gu Nuannuan pouted, "I don't believe you'll actually sleep in the same room as me. If you do, I'd like to see how you explain it to your beloved Rou'er."
"…"
Jiang Chenyu wanted to tell Gu Nuannuan that there was nothing between him and Gao Rou'er, but then he thought, why should he?
If there's no good reason, it's better not to explain anything at all.
Jiang Chenyu got up and walked toward the bed. He grabbed his watch, went into the cloakroom, and took out his pajamas, heading to the bathroom.
Gu Nuannuan listened to his movements. She lay on the back of the sofa, watching him. "You're not really planning to sleep here, are you?"
Jiang Chenyu glanced at her but didn't respond, heading straight into the bathroom.
Gu Nuannuan watched him leave and was so annoyed that she smacked her lips. "You stupid mouth, why did you have to provoke him? Now he won't leave tonight. Bah, bah, bah."
Jiang Chenyu really didn't leave that night.
When he came out after his shower to blow-dry his hair, Gu Nuannuan watched him carefully. Once he finished drying his hair and stepped out for a moment, Gu Nuannuan patted her chest in relief. "Thank goodness, I'm not a jinx."
But less than two minutes later, he returned.
Gu Nuannuan saw him holding a foreign book in his hand. She watched as Jiang Chenyu walked straight to the bed, lifted the quilt, sat down, and covered himself.
