Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 Awkward Voice

The main lights in the room were turned off, leaving only the table lamp beside his bed.

The girl on the sofa had been staring at him for an hour. Jiang Chenyu raised his eyes and looked into her crystal-clear eyes. "Am I good-looking?"

Gu Nuannuan shook her head. "No." He was just a bit handsome.

"...Then what do you think of me?"

Gu Nuannuan pressed her left hand with her right hand, her arm resting against the edge of the sofa, her chin propped on the back of her right hand, and asked curiously, "Why don't you sleep in the study?"

"Why should I sleep in the study when I have a bedroom?"

"But I'm in your bedroom. You and I are in the same room, and we're not innocent."

"We're both on the same certificate. What innocence are you still holding on to?"

Gu Nuannuan bit her lip at this.

It seemed they weren't exactly innocent anymore.

But, "We have three rules."

"Do the three rules say I can't sleep in my own room?"

It seemed... no.

Gu Nuannuan swallowed nervously and sat up straight. "Jiang Chenyu, you're not going to do anything bad to me, deliberately staying in the same room, right?"

"Gu Nuannuan, put away your girlish thoughts. I'm not interested in a little brat."

Gu Nuannuan gritted her teeth. What kind of girlish thoughts could she have? She just wanted to provoke Jiang Chenyu into leaving the bedroom.

If he wasn't in the room, she could sleep on the sofa, the floor—it was her freedom, and no one would know.

But with him also in the room, she felt uncomfortable, as though someone had come to invade her territory.

Seeing that she couldn't drive him away, Gu Nuannuan lay down on the sofa again in frustration, sighing. "I should definitely talk less in the future."

It was a bad idea, after all, for Jiang Chenyu to come back.

She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

Jiang Chenyu no longer engaged in childish conversations with her. He returned to his cold and aloof self, flipping through his foreign book.

The room was quiet, the lights dim, the central air conditioning running, keeping the room cool and refreshing.

After a few minutes, the sound of turning pages could be heard, like a lullaby, and Gu Nuannuan almost fell asleep while listening.

For the first time, she realized how comforting it was to listen to the sound of pages turning with her eyes closed.

No wonder the ancients liked to listen to books and sleep with their eyes closed while lying on a grand rocking chair.

She felt peaceful just listening to the sound of the pages turning.

In the silent room, a different kind of sound suddenly broke the peace.

Then, the sound came again.

Gu Nuannuan's face couldn't have been redder because the sound came from her stomach.

Jiang Chenyu put down the book and looked toward the sofa.

"Gurgle."

Gu Nuannuan pressed hard on her stomach, and the little villain in her heart suddenly popped up, running to her stomach to scold it: "When I was hungry before, you didn't embarrass me like this! I've only been hungry once tonight, and now you're making noise at this time? Are you looking for trouble?"

Stomach: Gurgle Gurgle.

The stomach made another sound. "Gurgle Gurgle."

The man on the bed moved, and the sound of him getting out of bed and putting on his slippers reached Gu Nuannuan's ears.

She knew Jiang Chenyu was coming.

She shyly stopped covering her stomach with her hands and began covering her face instead. She curled up, trying her best to suppress her stomach from making more sounds.

Jiang Chenyu walked over to her sofa and lowered his head to look at the girl who was curled up into a small ball. She was covering her face with her hands, and her ears had turned crimson.

He wanted to take this opportunity to laugh at her, but when he saw how embarrassed she was, he simply turned around and left the room without saying a word.
