Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Go or Not

"missa!" a skinny young man suddenly said.

"missa!" As soon as the young man finished speaking, another person shouted.

"missa! missa..." More people shouted, and the sound grew louder and louder like a wave, sweeping across the entire Yunkai Square.

"What are they shouting?" Daenerys asked Missandei, her eyes shining.

"That's ancient Ghisli, meaning mother!" Missandei looked at the excited crowd and answered happily.

After Missandei finished speaking, Barristan and Jorah also smiled.

Although they had stopped Daenerys from attacking Yunkai for the sake of 200,000 useless slaves, they still felt a sense of satisfaction when they saw the Yunkai slaves they rescued.

Hearing the name that once hurt her, Daenerys now had a strange feeling. She walked down the platform lightly, and the excited crowd followed her and slowly moved towards the platform. Although they were blocked by the spears of the Unsullied, they still wanted to move forward. Daenerys hurriedly ordered the Unsullied to withdraw their spears.

Seeing Daenerys walking towards the crowded crowd, Barristan and others changed their expressions slightly, but they were completely relieved when they saw Drogon on her shoulder.

They had witnessed Drogon's power during the siege last night. Not only did he save Jorah and the others from serious injury or death, he also breathed out dragon fire to kill the gatekeepers. They even thought that the five of them were redundant and that Drogon alone could take the city gate.

Seeing Daenerys coming towards them, the Yunkai people reached out to her, begging to be close to and touch missa, who had given them freedom.

The originally crowded Yunkai'i people involuntarily made way when they saw Daenerys coming. Looking at their pale and thin faces and the eager eyes looking at her, Daenerys couldn't help feeling ashamed of the thought of regret for freeing the Yunkai slaves that had flashed through her mind.

Walking along the path cleared by the Yunkai'i people, the people who originally wanted to touch her did not dare to approach her when they saw her coming. When Daenerys noticed a hint of fear in their eyes, she realized that they were afraid of Drogon.

Having witnessed the horror of dragons last night, they still dared not move forward even though Drogon on Daenerys's shoulder was only the size of a baby dragon.

"He won't hurt you, don't be afraid!" Daenerys said to the crowd around her in Valyrian.

After hearing what Daenerys said, and seeing that Drogon did not show any ferocious expression, the bold Yunkai people slowly approached Daenerys and tentatively touched her arms and shoulders, but no one dared to approach Drogon's shoulders where he was standing.

Infected by the warm atmosphere around her, Daenerys couldn't help but reach out and take the initiative to contact the Yunkai people next to her.

missa's voice suddenly became louder. Two dark and strong Yunkai men helped Daenerys sit on their shoulders and surrounded her as they walked towards the center of the square.

Looking at the eager and admiring eyes of the Yunkai people, Daenerys's face was filled with an unprecedented smile.

Rhaegal and Viserion, who were hovering in the distance, seemed to feel the atmosphere of the square as well. They flew over and danced up and down around Yunkai Square, roaring loudly.

...

Riverrun, the council chamber.

"Robb, we can't go. Walder must be resentful of you for breaking off the engagement, so he allied with the Lannisters to murder us." Wolf Mother Catelyn persuaded her son Robb.

Holding the sand table model in his hand, Robb frowned slightly: "That letter must be instigated by Tywin, who wants to prevent the North from forming an alliance with the Twins. It is wrong for me to break off the engagement, but hasn't Uncle Edmure agreed to marry his daughter? This is also the result that Walder has always wanted."

"Robb, you don't know Walder and his family. When I went to find him, he was still thinking about the fact that your grandfather did not attend his three weddings. And do you know why your uncle Edmure had never been engaged before?" Catelyn stared at Robb.

"Is it because of Walder?" Robb asked hesitantly.

Catelyn nodded and continued, "When your uncle was twelve years old, Walder wanted to marry his daughter to him. Your grandfather did not want to marry into the Frey family and refused on the grounds that he did not want your uncle to get married too early. But he did not give up. Two years later, when his other daughters grew up, he proposed marriage again, but was still rejected by your grandfather."

"For this reason, your grandfather has been delaying your uncle's marriage until now, because he is afraid that Walder will bear a grudge and affect the stability of the riverland."

After listening to his mother, Robb lowered his head and thought for a while before saying, "My uncle agreed to marry his daughter. Isn't that what he wanted? And I don't think Walder is a vengeful marquis."

Seeing his mother was about to speak again, he continued, "Grandpa had never agreed to the Frey marriage. When he learned that I would marry his daughter, he immediately sent almost all the soldiers in the Twins to assist me, leaving only less than 500 soldiers to defend the Twins."

"Besides, the Twins are sandwiched between the North and the Riverlands. If he dares to trample on the rights of guests and murder the nobles of both places at the wedding, how can the Twins survive? And the people I sent didn't find anything unusual about Roose. That letter must have been instigated by Tywin." Robb added, fearing that he would not be able to convince his mother.

After listening to Robb's analysis, Catelyn didn't know how to refute it for a moment, but she still felt a little chilly when she thought of the contents of the mysterious letter.

"No!" She told herself. She had already lost her husband, her eldest daughter was trapped in King's Landing, and her youngest daughter and two sons were missing. She could not risk losing her eldest son again.

"If you must go, bring your army and weapons to the wedding, otherwise I won't let you go!" Caitlin said firmly.

Robb looked at his mother Catelyn in surprise. It seemed that his mother had not yet recovered from the incident of letting Jaime go. Which noble in the Seven Kingdoms would bring a large army and weapons to attend the wedding? If the news got out, he, the Young Wolf Lord and Warden of the North, would definitely become a laughing stock.

Walder might also go back on his engagement with his uncle and cancel the alliance between the North and the Twins, a result he simply could not afford.

He also had to avenge his father Eddard, rescue his sister, and prove that he, the eldest son, was as capable of fighting as his father. How could he return to the North in disgrace and be ridiculed by the Karstark family?

"Mother, you should know that's impossible." Robb stared at Catelyn.

"I have already lost my husband and I will not let you take risks again." Caitlin still did not give up.

"You captured Tyrion to avenge Bran, killed my father, and trapped your sisters in King's Landing. You released Jaime to save your sister, causing the Karstarks to kill the captives. You finally betrayed me and caused me to lose half of my troops. Now you are trying to stop the North from forming an alliance with the Twins for my safety. Do you still want me to restrict your freedom?"

Seeing that his mother still refused to give up, Robb couldn't help but say what he had been suppressing in his heart for a long time.

Listening to her son Robb's story, Catelyn's expression gradually became dull. She had not expected that Robb would have such a deep resentment towards her, and all this was caused by her. She suddenly felt hopeless.

Robb looked at his mother's dazed look and felt a little bit reluctant. "I'm sorry, mother." Then he turned and walked out of the room.

"Robb! I beg you, don't go!" Catelyn stepped forward and grabbed Robb's arm, begging in pain.

Looking at his mother with tears on her face, Robb expressionlessly pushed away Catelyn's hands and continued to walk out.

"Robb! If you must go, promise me that you will wear soft armor, hide the dagger, bring more guards, and station a thousand soldiers outside the Twins. Otherwise, I will never let you go, even if you die." Catelyn screamed miserably behind Robb.

Seeing his mother's resolute expression, Robb lowered his head, thought for a moment and said, "I promise you."
