Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Mysterious Man's Kindness

At Tyrion's residence, it had been three days since the wedding. Not long after Tyrion got up from the chair, he received the news of the Red Wedding.

When Tyrion heard that Walder had launched the Red Wedding, his first reaction was that his brother-in-law Robb and his nominal mother-in-law were finished.

After hearing the news, he realized that they had actually escaped back to Riverrun. It was simply unbelievable. He couldn't understand how Walder could let them escape back with such a careful plan.

Walking up to Sansa who was standing in a daze at the window, Tyrion told her the news. Upon hearing the news, Sansa and Tyrion had almost the same reaction. Then their sadness turned into joy, and they were glad that their mother and brother had escaped back.

......

Three days later, in Yunkai, after a few days of chaos, order gradually returned to normal. Daenerys accepted the proposal of Jorah and others to stay in Yunkai, and wait until it was completely stabilized before liberating Meereen, the last slave city in the Slaver's Bay.

Apart from training the two dragons, Drogon just ate and slept. He felt like he was not a dragon at all, but was almost turning into a pig.

Everything seems normal in Yunkai. After days of cruel and terrifying training, Rhaegal and Viserion have seen obvious results. Not to mention being able to dodge the Night King's javelins, it would be difficult for them to be hurt by ordinary crossbow sneak attacks.

Drogon plans to go to Westeros again to see the situation there. As a dragon, he is also worried.

Three hours later, they arrived at their first stop, Dragonstone. As soon as Drogon flew to Shireen's window, he saw her. The little girl seemed to have been waiting for him, but she was not as excited as before when she saw him.

"Drogon, you're finally here. Davos told you to tell him as soon as you get here." Shireen said anxiously.

Davos was so anxious to find him, something must have happened. Drogon took out food from his backpack and handed it to Shireen, then took out a pen and paper and asked Davos if he had left the dungeon.

Shireen didn't expect that Drogon knew that Davos would come out of the dungeon, and then she relayed Davos' words to Drogon.

Davos hopes Drogon will arrange someone to pick up Shireen as soon as possible, and he will be responsible for sending her to a hidden location on Shilong Island.

"Why are you sending me away? Is it because my father burned my uncle to death?" After telling Drogon what Davos had told her, Shireen asked Drogon with a pout.

Shireen is very smart and she guessed the reason why she was asked to leave Dragonstone. Drogon couldn't help but feel sorry for Shireen. No one would feel good if they knew that the father who once loved them might burn them to death.

Drogon cupped Shireen's little hand to comfort her. Shireen's tears welled up in her eyes, but she didn't cry.

Drogon is not sure how much impact his arrival will have on the world. Uncle Shireen was burned to death. Will Stannis burn his daughter earlier? He doesn't want to take this risk.

"wait for me!"

After leaving two words for Shireen, Drogon said goodbye to her and flew to King's Landing.

An hour later, I went to the flea pit in King's Landing again and took out the letter left by Varys. The general content was as follows:

Tyrion and Sansa were married, and Joffrey's wedding date was tomorrow. Robb attended the Red Wedding as scheduled and fled back to Riverrun with Catelyn and a dozen other nobles. There was not much change in other news.

Seeing that Tyrion has married Sansa, Drogon can imagine what kind of life he is living.

It must be very hard for Tyrion to sit in the same room all day, watching Sansa's big white rabbit dangling in front of him, but not having the heart to eat it! It's a bit funny to think about it.

Robb still attended the Red Wedding and escaped. It seems that Varys has already sent the message to them. After receiving the news, they still jumped into the fire pit. Drogon didn't know what to say to them.

Without leaving a message for Varys, Drogon planned to go directly to him.

He arrived at Varys's residence in the north of the city and observed the courtyard for a while from a big tree. He did not see anyone coming in or out. He first flew to the roof and wrote a letter for Varys, then flew back to the big tree and waited quietly.

The house where the wizard was housed was just his secret residence, and the chances of finding him there were even smaller.

After waiting for more than twenty minutes, he finally saw Varys walking slowly towards him from the alley in the distance. He immediately flew down and placed the letter on the stone table.

After opening the courtyard door, Varys habitually glanced at the stone table. Just as he was about to turn back, he saw the familiar parchment on the table.

He couldn't help but look at the several big trees outside the courtyard, and then at a taller building farther away. He strongly suspected that there was a pair of eyes watching him in these two places.

He glanced around and found nothing unusual before he withdrew his gaze and picked up the parchment. The handwriting seemed different from before, a little more beautiful, but the signature was still the mysterious man.

The content was very simple. They wanted him to send someone to Dragonstone to pick up a little girl. This little girl had a very special identity. She was the niece of former King Robert and the daughter of Duke Stannis.

Varys couldn't help but frown as he read the first half of the letter. He had heard of that girl. She had suffered from greyscale since she was a child. Although she was cured, she was left with terrible scars on her face.

He didn't understand why the mysterious man around Queen Daenerys smuggled her out of Dragonstone. Was there some conspiracy against Stannis?

With this thought flashing through his mind, he continued reading and found out that the reason why the mysterious man smuggled Shireen was to save her.

Stannis followed the advice of Melisandre, the red lady, the priestess of the Lord of Light, and burned Shireen's uncle to death. He may also burn Shireen to death in the future.

After reading the entire content of the letter, Varys felt inexplicably angry. He did not expect that Stannis, who was known for his strong character and tough tactics, would be bewitched by the red woman to the point of burning his own daughter to death.

After being persecuted by wizards when he was a child, he developed an extreme disgust for mysterious and unknown things, and he hated random witchcraft even more.

Varys visited Tyrion after he was seriously injured while guarding King's Landing. On the one hand, it was because of Tyrion's ability as prime minister, and on the other hand, it was to thank him for defeating Stannis' army that was bewitched by the red woman.

After reading the letter, he learned that Stannis was going to burn his own daughter to death. Not to mention that it was a mysterious man who asked him to rescue her, even if there was no mysterious man, Varys would probably find a way to rescue Shireen if he knew about this.

Seeing the reason why the mysterious man smuggled Shireen, Varys couldn't help but feel happy. Although he promised the mysterious man to serve Daenerys in advance, this was not a wishful decision on his part.

Moreover, he was somewhat wary of the mysterious man's bizarre inferences and plans.

At the beginning, he told him that Walder would hold a red wedding for the Stark mother and son, but he didn't mention anything else. Varys didn't know what his purpose was. After trying to figure out the mysterious man's thoughts to no avail, he decided to send a letter to Robb according to his own ideas to save them from the disaster?

Now it seems that the mysterious man knew that he would not watch Catelyn and her son die, so he saved them through his hands?

No matter what the mysterious man's purpose was in saving Robb and the other, Varys now knows his purpose of saving Shireen. He will not doubt that the mysterious man wants to use Shireen to do something. Stannis is planning to burn his own daughter to death, so how could Daenerys use Shireen to threaten Stannis?
