A bright light is all that Mike can see as he finally opens his eyes, before hearing the voices of numerous people around him. "Well now, c'mon Cass! You can't blame a guy for wanting to try and test out some good ol' explosives!" The familiar voice of Gris rang out to him as he slowly raised himself up and found himself on some sort of operating table, meanwhile the voice of Cassian was heard bickering about Gris' argument.
"Of course I can! Those things were mine! But I'm just glad that he didn't end up killing himself, I'll be honest, adding that chip to the teleporter to show me where it was was actually one smart idea of yours. But I can't get over the fact that he decided to try and blow up the remains of that building, let alone one that had nothing there. Only thing of note was the bunker."
The mention of the basement made Mike quickly turn around and blurt out, "What was in there?" Both Cassian and Gris jump at this, but while Cassian takes a moment to recuperate himself, Gris was hunched over laughing at the little spook that she got. But as she finally got done laughing and noticed Mike looking at her with a genuinely concerned look, it caused her to continue laughing.
Cassian, however, decides to go ahead and walk up to Mike and elaborate on what he saw. "It wasn't much, but there were a lot of papers in there, but a lot of the words were blacked out, ripped, and just outright unreadable." A quick question was asked by Mike, "Did you at least grab those papers?" Cassian drags his hand across his face and speaks in an annoyed tone before looking back down at Mike who was on the table.
"No, I didn't, but that was just because of the fact that I'm already frustrated. All the others are watching the tournament right now, which I was also enjoying, just to get a message from Gris saying that all of the specially made bombs she made for huge battles that she gave me for my damn birthday a few months ago all went off. So I went and found you lying on the ground, passed out. You better be glad you survived that thing considering how much explosive material she put into each bomb she makes."
Mike takes a moment to think about what Cassian had just told him and recalls the bomb that had Gris' name before he decides to take the opportunity to, instead of taking it seriously, make a joke. "You two got a thing going on?" He expected the joke to strike a nerve with Cassian, but Cassian took it in stride as he just placed his hand on Mike's shoulder before bluntly telling him something.
"I should've left you as dinner for those demons that were there. Allowing them to maul you to death, but I still got my morals in tact, so I sent them back down. And, between you and me, I really don't think Gris even understands what romance is." He whispered that last bit to Mike, but as he did, Gris jumped into the conversation, wrapping her arms around each of them.
"Oooh! Are we telling secrets? I love keeping secrets! Come on, tell me one! You can trust me to keep it!" She was excited at what was unfolding before her as Cassian quickly came up with a lie. "I was just telling him a tip on how to kill demons." Which was followed up by Gris' curiosity peaking at this, "And what tip would that be? It'd have to be a really great one if it's coming from you of all people!"
Quickly, once more, Cassian thought of something on the spot. "I'll tell you about it some other time." Gris is quick to pout and cross her arms, but she couldn't ever dare put a frown on her face as her smile still stays on her face, just like it always has. "Well, then fine! But do know that I can get it out of you one way another!" She said that with enthusiasm as she pointed at her own head, tapping herself on the head.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, you can use the thing to check my memories, I get it, but you told me you wouldn't use that machine to do that, because it'd be 'an invasion of privacy.'" Cassian proclaims as Gris gives a nod. "Well, duh, of course it is! I make sure my beauties are safe coded so that only I can use them, and so that I only mess with a person's brain if they need me for something! And I always at least try to make sure they give their consent! Though, there have been a few... exceptions."
Mike finally gets off the examination table after all of that had been said. "Well, outside that, you've been missing out, Michael! We've been having ourselves a mighty fine tournament! You should see Malachi in the assassin's one! He's been showing off to the others, made all the better when you'd think he couldn't do it anymore! If only I could ever get Kain to participate in the tournament, but that doesn't matter right now for you, because I got a task for you and the others!"
While he pops his back, Mike looks at Gris, raising his eyebrow as if to say "And what would that be?" while Gris explains to him what she needs him and the others to do. "Why, I need you and the other two to go ahead and go kill some more demons! This time, I want you all to do it on your own! Meaning there won't be a Cassian around to save your butts if anything decides to go south!"
Gris was beaming with excitement when she told him that, and all Mike could do was sit there and truly wonder if it was the best idea for him and the others to agree to go with Cassian instead of just leaving and trying to find things out on their own, but he reluctantly agreed nevertheless. He was then having to prepare himself, and hope the others were as well for fighting a demon themselves, instead of relying on outside help.
