Chapter 14 - Chapter 14:

The others had left to do whatever they wanted, leaving Pat alone to look around him. He hadn't noticed before that they were in an empty field. Not the same one they had been to before with Cassian, but an empty field nonetheless. While everyone else was gone, he took the moment to just think about all that's happened as of late. Whether it be from the initial moments of coming to, or the multiple days of waiting for Mike to wake up from the explosion he took, that Gris kept hidden from Cassian. It still all just felt... weird.

Whatever. He now had some time to himself and he was going to take a look around the towns that Cassian had shown them while he was under the assumption of Gris having sent Mike out to do some things while being watched by others she knew. So, he took the time to go and walk around. He went to a few different places, all he did was take it as a chance to truly explore. Whether it was checking a library and checking out a book, or going to some fast food place and grabbing a quick snack.

He continued to maneuver around these places, as well as when he arrived at that initial town they went to, it was just a simple town. Nothing of note, but during the traveling, he had decided to go to a library or book store in the previous two towns he was in to check out or buy a book for himself as he was initially shown where they were there. But he wasn't ever shown where it was in this town, so he began to roam to see if he could find it.

He continues to look around without asking for directions, before he ends up crossing paths with another guy who was walking, and finally giving up the search himself, he turns around, pokes the guy on the shoulder and asks, "Hey, where can I get some books?" The person stopped and turned to him and answered him. "Well, you can buy some books over there..."

He said that while pointing in one direction that Pat could probably walk to within a short time frame and figure out where it was, before pointing in another direction, "... But, if you need to go to the library, it's over there." He continued before Pat responded, "That's a bit vague. Where exactly is 'over there'?" The other paused as he took a moment to think, "Uhh... I mean, if you need me to, I can lead you to where it is."

"Yeah, if you're able to do that, that'd be great." With that exchange done, the two begin walking, but as they do, the one decides to question what kind of books Pat likes. "Oh, I can read just about any. But I'd have to say horror and history are some of my favorites." And the other took interest in that. "Really? That's cool. Any specifics about either?" "Well, for horror, I like the more mysterious kind of ones, with supernatural creatures in them. And history, I'm more akin to being intrigued by the philosophical or ideological ones."

This really made the other interested in what he was talking about. "So, then let me ask you the age old philosophical question: What's the meaning of life?" He asked as Pat took into consideration the question. "Well, I think it's that there is a meaning, but what it is is up to whoever wants to think about it. What about you?" "Well, I'm in a similar boat when it comes to that myself. But, it's more so that everyone has their own meaning when it comes to that sort of thing. There isn't really a defined one, and they need to find out what their own meaning in life is."

As they continue walking, the two still engage in a philosophical conversation.. But while Pat is a lot more straightforward in his ideas, the other explains his own ideas in examples instead of outright ideas sometimes. Eventually the conversation did have to come to an end as from a few blocks away a larger building in the vicinity could be seen while they were walking. And that was, according to other walking with him, the library.

So with a "See you later" and a "I bid you adieu," the two of them part ways as one continues walking about as Pat goes and checks himself out a book. He would've done that with no issue until he received a message from Sebastian telling him to "Hurry the hell up," and to "get back to the meeting spot." He did as he was told, quickly checking out a book as he then used the teleporter to hurry on back to where he was needed.

When he got there, both Mike and Alex were already there, but Sebastian was nowhere to be seen. That was until they saw a portal open and out came the slicked back haired demonian, finishing off the food he said he'd get himself earlier before he wiped away the crumbs from his face. "What was the rush?" Sebastian was asked by Alex, who responded with a shrug and some movements as if he was unsure as to what to say exactly.

That was until he decided to joke, "Well, let's just say that my earlier stunt didn't go so well with those higher ups, and now they want me to go back there and talk with them." "And why are we being dragged into this?" The irritation Mike had in his voice made it obvious that he wasn't a fan of this sudden change, despite originally being put into the sudden situation of being given a chance to roam freely.

Sebastian looks back at him with a look that was as if he was asking him "Really want to do that right now?" before he shook his head and gave them an almost straight answer. "Well, that's because not only am I needing to go to talk with them, but so do you. All of you. The Admin wants to have a word with all of you, I guess." With one hand in his pocket, he reaches down to grab his teleporter and sets it up to take them back as the others are still wondering what the Admin could want from them.
