Chapter 16 - Chapter 16:

Despite the fact that he was currently stuffing his face with food, Sebastian is still able to ask them how their interaction with the Admin went, and after they explain that it went well, he actually seemed pleasantly surprised by that. "Damn, I was hoping for once he'd lose it and have at it, but guess not."

He was obviously joking when he said that, but the others were not entirely big on that joke. "Okay, okay, now I can probably guess what you all are thinking: What now? Because, yeah, I got scolded at for having ties with Gris. And they're wanting me to deal with whatever they're wanting. So to cut to the chase, you need to choose: Either stay and hang around with Gris, or maybe join the Union. You'll have an actual job that way, and get paid a lot more for killin' demons. What'll it be?"

Without much hesitation from any of them, they all agreed to be a part of the Union. That was until Pat recalled how Gris said that they had agreed to a contract with her. At least, mentally they signed some contract with her, but that just makes Sebastian laugh at what he had heard. "Oh, you don't have to worry about that. I don't think she ever means any of that shit she says. I'm pretty sure she even has an old scream recorded from a movie and has it playing to scare people. I'm even pretty sure the gun she carries is just a prop."

Given that that was now out of the way, and after a few hours of messing around with paperwork and everything that they had been given, they were now all free to do as they pleased. They each had their own rooms. Finally, after all the chaos that had been happening, instead of waking up on building rubble, an operating table, or what were probably old prison beds in the black market, they each had an actual bed to themselves, which they slept comfortably on.

And for the next few weeks, they were getting more and more used to this life. They actually had real food to eat, time to train with the weapons they were using, how to kill demons, and, for Mike, how to better use his magic. It was all going good as one day, alongside Sebastian, they were out doing a routine check for demons in whatever spot they were appointed, and Sebastian is now aiming two handguns directly at the last beast still standing.

"Gotcha." He said, hitting the trigger on both guns, watching as the bullets penetrate the skull of the demon. It hits the ground with a thud, and after they use their devices to teleport it and the others elsewhere, Sebastian decides to hop up onto a rock and sit down. While sitting down, he decides to look at a list of things the four of them needed to do. After checking over it, he checks off a few things and stands back up to look over the trio.

"Alright, laddies, we're just about done for the day. Just gotta check back in and we're good. You guys can go ahead and go ahead. I got things to do." Sebastian continues before putting down a teleporter. "Where're you heading this time?" Alex questions while shaking his arm again from the demon blood covering it. "To go buy more bullets. Yeah, the Union has places I can get some, but I know somewhere where I can get some cheaper."

"Then can you tell us where? It'd probably make it a lot easier for all of us then, if that is the case." "... No, I can't. It's from someone I personally know, and they aren't a big fan of selling to strangers." Sebastian explained to them, which, yeah, it made sense to them. So they left him to go wherever he needed, until Mike decided to have an idea. A dumb idea, but still an idea.

"I'll bet you both twenty bucks that he's going to the black market." The suggestion had Alex and Pat slightly surprised, but, at the same time, they could still believe that to be the case given how things already were. Given they've learned that Sebastian already had ventures down to the market, it was not out of the question that he'd probably be going and doing some shady things.

But, then again, what could they do about it? The Union can only advise against doing those types of things, especially since he wasn't doing anything truly heinous. But, the idea now sat in all three of their minds, and after some debating with one another, they all agreed to go ahead and check it out.

Nevertheless, there was a risk of being found by someone like Gris, Cassian, or even Garrett, and who knows how any of them would react. Especially Gris. But, like before, Sebastian had told them how she was likely bluffing about the things she said. With the debating done, the three of them went ahead and back to the black market.

For some fifteen minutes they looked around for Sebastian, as well as keeping an eye out for the three they could think of that could result in some complications. But as it almost reached half an hour, they decided to take this as an idea of Sebastian probably not being there. Either that or they just couldn't find him and decided to give up.

"You owe us both twenty bucks, Mike." Alex jokes while he pulls out one of the devices the Union had given them to go and sign that they were done for the day. And so they began walking back to where they came from, just so they could hang out for the remaining hours of the day. That was, until, the voice of someone stopped them.

"Well, well, aren't you three those amnesiacs that Gris was dealing with?" The three of them paused before each one turned around to face Willow, the mercenary that Gris seems to have ties with that they had seen before. And none of them knew what to say to the merc before she decided to speak again, "You know, if you three wouldn't mind, which you won't, I got a few questions."
