They continued to watch and listen to this supposed "mission" that they had, and from what they were hearing, Pat mentions what he realized, "You want us to be mercenaries?" "Well, in a sense, yes. But it's only so we can get more details about some deals that we hear are going on. We've already sent a squad of 'mercenaries' to try and get in touch with some higher ups there, but we haven't heard back from them."
"And what makes you believe we're the best for the job?" Mike still continues to ask in a mostly uncaring tone. "Well, weren't you associates with Ms. Gris Parker? But do not bother answering, we already know you were, and we too have our own history with her." This actually catches Pat's interest who leans in to hear more about it. "Can you tell us about it?"
"As we allow anyone here, she was allowed as well, but with the stunts she would pull, we had to release her, but she did go out on good terms. Unlike others who would storm off or swear revenge, she understood where we were coming from and she accepted it. If only she wasn't so fascinated with things that are bordering on breaking so many laws, she could've been great here."
He stops himself from going on a rant about the things she could've done, returning to the matter at hand. "Ignoring on what could have been, and the things that have been done, she is likely to try and see if she can find some way into the trading circle of the deal. Now since you already know her, she is likely to easily welcome you back due to her naïve nature. We've already devised a plan for how this operation will go."
Sven pulls out separate clipboards for each of them to read over while explaining how it is meant to go. They all take note of how they need to act as if they aren't even part of the Union anymore, instead having abandoned it to go work for Gris. And when the time is right, go through whatever files they can to get any information they can, and once they do, get out as fast as possible, which was likely the trickiest part.
"That is their plan, but your plan is a lot more simple." Sven proceeds to then explain what their plan was, leaving Pat and Alex to believe they are idiots, and for Mike to think that Sven is a jackass for that one. Now, their plan was to locate the others, find out if they had found anything, and then return back to him with any sort of update. That, or at least find out what was being planned by going through whatever files they could find.
They didn't need to do some sort of unique special mission like the others were by truly acting like it. They just had to say they were basically and then get out just about as quick as they went in. It was likely an easy thing to do, but it would also likely be something very boring, at least for Mike. The others got the idea, and they were ready for whatever they were going to have to face.
After some more preparations, the group heads back down to the black market. And they continued to roam around it until they returned back to where Gris would usually hang out. And she was not there. Pat decides to go to what seemed like an office of sorts that Gris had, looking around at the mess that was around the floor. If it weren't for the fact that there was still at least some semblance of a trail, he would have likely fallen down already.
He reaches through and looks around some drawers to try and see if he can find anything. Instead finding numerous different explosives, a bunch of pictures with some other people, and even some older devices. His scavenger hunt continues through the drawers, as well did the other two's own attempts at finding whatever they could. Mike went searching in and around the machine that she had put them under to find anything.
Only thing of note there was an actual instruction manual that gave a step-by-step on how exactly to operate it, bring back memories, mess with memories, ect.. Alex, meanwhile, went searching in and around the just looked around the entire place. Searching through shelves of books, shelves of movies, shelves of music from different devices. How many shelves of things does this woman have? That was the summary of what was going on inside of Alex's mind.
But all of their searching would soon come to a halt as they all got together again and none of them could figure out anything of what they were initially being told about. Nothing about some unique deal going on, nothing about the troops that had already been sent there. Nada, zilch, absolutely nothing. And soon enough they gave up, now ready to search the entire black market for the troops until they heard the sound of a door opening.
It was Gris, talking to someone else over the line. "C'mon! Why won't you make a deal with lil' ol' me?" The drama she was trying to enact made it appear as though she was doing just about anything she could to get this supposed "deal" off the ground, all still with her great big smile on her face. "Now, hang on right der', cowboy! What do ye mean ye only me on ye 'no deals' list? What have I done 'ere?"
She was continuing her blabbering, but it was gathered that she was not likely to make this deal at any time soon, so the trio decide to try and leave the market, but they return outside of Gris' place, and they were already ready to get out, but then Gris' voice rang out to them, mentioning to them "Ye cowboys know it ain't courteous to listen in on a lil' missy's phone call, right?"
