As the four of them all enter an empty field and look out to the distance to see a demon, Cassian readied his two swords once more while the three all take a hold of their weapons. "Okay, so, you are all good with your choices of weapons?" He asked them as they all gave a nod. Pat and Alex have both taken a handgun and a rifle of some type. Meanwhile, Mike had only grabbed a handgun, already having a lot of confidence in his own pyrokinesis despite not having much experience with it.
And, out further away from them, there stood the giant beast, a demon. As it merely wandered the field like a wild animal that was oblivious as to how it'd soon be killed by a hunter. "So, what's the whole deal about Gris needing demon blood? That some big thing in the market?" Alex questioned, wanting some more ideas on what they're trying to do currently. It took Cassian a moment to respond as he was still messing with his blades before looking back at the demon and then returning his focus onto Alex.
"Yeah, demon blood is used for a lot of things. Some people use it as a currency, some use it like it's a drug, hence why a lot of people will smuggle some and take a needle to get some in them, just to enhance their magic." This catches the attention of Mike as he asks, "So, hypothetically, if I were to do that, would my fire be stronger?" Cassian saw where this question was going before he stretched and got ready to explain why that was a horrible idea.
"Before you even think about it, just so you know, demon blood is usually highly concentrated with soulstite, and... you probably also don't know what I'm talking about there either, do you?" His realization and remembrance of their amnesia stopped him from speaking as they all gave similar responses of "Soulstite?", "Nope", and "What?" Cassian rubs his eyes before he gets ready to continue to explain things to the three of them.
"So, I already told you about Hell and demons coming from there and that sort, right? Well, humanity had the bright idea to take advantage of it and make mines down in Hell. Where they go down there and mine this ore called 'soulstite' and it's basically one of the most important things around with it being used for so many different things, similar to something like oil. Only problem is that if you're in contact for too long or even just around it for too long, you're probably gonna get a disease called 'soulblight'. Or 'soulphage' as some people prefer to call it."
As he continued to explain, the demon that they were observing earlier has unknowingly got slightly closer. "Now, I don't know the specifics, but in the case of demon blood, you can get it on you and be fine for the most part, you can inhale the fumes and everything and still be fine after a long enough contact with it compared to outright ore. So me being a demon hunter isn't as deadly as a being someone working in the mines.. It's only when you actually inject it into your body and bloodstream when the actual soulstite in it decides to really screw you over."
"So, what happens if you get soulblight?" Pat asks, genuinely wanting to know the implications. "Well, firstly, there's the whole thing about your magic getting better. Although, fun fact, there's also a chance all it does is make it even worse, or render your magic almost useless. Then, right after that, there is how it's practically eating away at you from the inside. Some say they don't feel anything, some say that it feels like some type of constant, non-stop feeling in their body, and for those in extreme cases... they don't usually last that long."
Mike, however, was ignorant to these concerns and asked, "Uh huh, that's bad and all, but what are all the chances of any of those negative outcomes?" The actual audacity in him asking that instead of taking in the potential risks baffles Cassian before he responds, "I'm saying it now, if you ever try it, I'm going to just personally pay Willow to kill you, just because it'd be ironic for an infected who had no choice in the matter of being around it kill one who chose to use it. However, if you do go through with it, there is at least somewhere you can go to get treatment. I know there is this one place that I don't remember the name of right now that's trying to find some cure for it. But they are currently able to postpone symptoms for some time."
After finally finishing speaking as Mike is stunned slightly from the sort of thread he just received, Cassian looks back towards the demon in the distance and pops his back before readying himself. "And, just a quick tip for if you're ever going to kill a demon: Always try to aim for the head." And just like that, Cassian ran from them towards the demon. Said demon took notice of him as he charged at it. The beast let out a roar as it ran towards Cassian.
However, as it did so, Cassian was able to dodge the attack from it as its clawed hand swooped down at him. Cassian quickly retaliates from this as he slices upwards with his sword, making a huge gash appear on the demon's arm as it lets out a pain filled roar before attempting to attack again. Cassian, once more, was able to dodge it and then lodged one of his swords into the chest of the demon, leaving it stunned for the moment being. And, just like that, he would use the sword lodged there as a platform to jump up off of before coming back down and stabbing it straight through the skull. The demon then fell backwards onto the ground, dead, as Cassian stood atop of it. He looks back at the three while pulling both of the swords out of the demon as he looks at the blood covering him now before speaking.
"Okay, I'm going to be entirely honest: I did not expect to kill it that fast or easy. Heh, I was expecting to have you three help me out here, but let's just get the blood and go get some snacks afterwards, my treat." A few jars were taken out by Cassian as he began to let the blood ooze out into them as the others stood there. However, Cassian gave them all a wave to come over. "C'mon now, if you all help with this, we can get out of here faster." And just like the times before, they just do as they're told because they don't know what else to do until they remember what happened to them.
