"You heard me. No more seeing other men."
That thought was on repeat on my mind. So I made sure not to cross path again with Ethan, I don't want to cause any trouble against Jonathan.
It was time to go home, I left the office as the late sun projected shadows on the ground. It had been one of those days; endless tasks and constant demands. My mind, my body-in the thick of faking a marriage-it dragged on, and the pain grew more intolerable day by day.
As I entered the lobby, I noticed Jonathan walking ahead of me. His long strides had that usual deliberate purpose. My mind was already on how to get into my room fast at home, maybe take a hot bath and get that sore muscle relaxed.
We were just going to walk out through the glass doors when we heard:
"Mr. Wells, Ms. Jackson."
