Chloe's Point of View
The tension in the room was killing me. Victor Langston's presence, along with Isabella's calculating stare, made my skin crawl. I stood in the middle of the hotel room, every instinct telling me to leave, but I couldn't. Not yet. I needed to hear them out, no matter how vile all of this felt.
He slumped against the wall with folded arms across his chest, sort of like he had all the confidence that once tricked my mom. Victor was smirking, as if he knew he had gotten the better end of the deal.
"Well, Chloe," he said, his voice as smooth as silk, "I'm cutting to the chase. I've been watching you, waiting for the right moment. And now that moment is here." He straightened up, his eyes narrowing. "I'm offering you $100 million. Walk away from Jonathan, join my company, and all this stress you're enduring? It'll disappear."
