Ignoring the guilt was becoming very difficult. My gut wrenched with embarrassment every time I glanced at Lucien. I never thought I would be here, giving Alec information and betraying the guy I cared about. But Alec had given me no other option. I had to keep Lucien safe, even if it meant gradually losing my allegiance.
It wasn't all that horrible, I assured myself. I was providing Alec little facts, nothing that would endanger Lucien, nothing really significant. Not yet, at least. I had to tread carefully, giving Alec just enough to satisfy him without going too far against the interests of the pack. However, it wasn't simple.
As I waited by the window, I watched Lucien get the pack ready for what he thought would be the last confrontation with the rogues. He was so determined, so concentrated. My pulse raced at the notion of him discovering there was a traitor among us; he was unaware of it.
