Lucien had changed from the person I knew. He became more darker as time went on. He seemed to have been transformed from the inside out by the ritual's power. He seemed more distant and suspicious every day. His once-loving eyes have become chilly and analytical. He listened to no one anymore, least of all to me.
The pack also sensed it. An unfamiliar sense of terror pervaded the atmosphere. Though I could sense concern in their eyes, the soldiers blindly obeyed Lucien's instructions. Now that he was ready for the last conflict with the remaining rogues, he reigned with an iron grip, pushing them more than before.
But he was bracing himself for more than simply rogues. It was a darker force, an internal force that was gaining control.
