Chereads / Pokemon Barry Version / Chapter 13 - Barry Vs Ash

Chapter 13 - Barry Vs Ash

"The match is over and Blue is the winner!" Prof. Oak declared.

Red recalled Charmander into its Pokéball, his regret and disappointment showing on his face like a lightbulb.

Without a word he went back to his original position, if he was crying inside or lamenting no one knew, his face showed no expression.

"Haha, I win Red!" Blue said with a smirk on his face as he recalled Squirtle.

"Laugh it up, I'll beat you soon." Red declared.

'You would if you weren't nerfed so badly.' Barry thought.

"Barry and Ash you may begin your match!" Prof. Oak's voice rang in their small makeshift arena.

"Come out, Nidoran!" Barry shouted.

'I always wanted to say that without being accused of having chuunibyou!' Barry exclaimed in his heart.

"Pikachu, let's go!" Ash shouted as Pikachu jumped from his shoulder and landed onto the grass.

"Pikachu, start up with thundershock!" Ash commanded, his voice carried by the wind.

Pikachu slapped it's cheeks, yellow electricity manifested from its body.

With swift accuracy the Pokémon navigated the blast of electricity to where Nidoran stood.

"Dodge it!" Barry shouted.

Nidoran ran to the side, but the thundershock still affected it.

'So thundershock is 2m wide, with Nidoran's short legs It'll have to be continually on the move to dodge thundershock.' Barry thought.

"Nidoran use disable!" Barry shouted.

Nidoran concentrated for a second, forming a small white ball before sending it at Pikachu.

"Dodge it with quick attack!" Ash yelled.

At the last second Pikachu jumped to the side and with it's speed evaded the attack.

Only for it to home onto the Pokémon and in the confusion strike.

"Poison Sting!" Barry commanded.

Nidoran gathered poison type energy into its horns, the horns glowed in a slight dark-purple aura as Nidoran began its run.

"Pikachu use quick attack!" Ash shouted, the importance of the situation evident in his voice.

As Pikachu charged normal-type energy it suddenly glowed white and black before the move canceled.

'Dis-abled.' Barry thought as Nidoran made contact with Pikachu.

Pikachu did not fly away despite the fact that it had been hit but instead a deep wound was inflicted, Nidoran had just stabbed Pikachu as it transferred the poison energy to the Pokémon.

"Use thunderwave!" Ash shouted.

"Nidoran, release!" Barry commanded not wanting his opponent to gain the upperhand.

But as soon as Nidoran let go it was hit by the thunderwave, it was unable to move.

"I always hated thunderwave," Barry muttered. "Use poison sting again."

Nidoran couldn't move a meter from it's position so Barry decided to use an attack that Nidoran only had to readjust it's position.

Nidoran removed its horn from Pikachu, a hole protuding from the yellow mouse's Pokémon's stomach before ramming it back inside.

"Thundershock!" At this time Ash was worried whether his Pokémon was going to survive this battle.

"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.

Yellow sparks of electricity sparked around the ground as Pikachu summoned energy, it was preparing to unleash one of its most powerful thundershocks yet!

"Chu!"

"Again." Barry told Nidoran.

"Stop!" Ash sounded closer now, he had forcefully dragged Pikachu away from the match.

"Ash you know what this means." Prof. Oak spoke.

"Yes, I can't let Pikachu suffer anymore. He isn't ready." Ash spoke gravely.

It reminded Barry of the time Ash was in the Galar region, he had given up on being a Pokémon trainer for sometime because he kept on losing his matches.

"This match has ended with Barry's win." Prof. Oak's voice sounded.

Barry could feel regret for the way Pikachu ended, the poor mouse Pokémon had ended the battle poisoned and with two holes in its stomach.

'That makes sense, if I had long-range attacks I would've had to battle more.' Barry thought. 'But an easy win is still an easy win.'

"Pikachu." Ash's caring voice rang out.

Suddenly Barry felt bad for poisoning Pikachu, he wasn't being very considerate for the poor boy.

Ash was someone with dreams while he had spent quite some sleepless nights playing Pokémon and working on his strategy to defeat the toughest gym leaders in the game this guy was probably sleeping!

He was a born pro while Ash was still a noob.

"Ash, take this." Barry said reaching into his bag and bringing out an antidote.

He threw it at Ash who caught it quickly.

"Thanks." He said quickly.

He didn't even waste time before spraying it on the Pokémon's wound.

The wounds went from the purple color to red, Ash quickly brought another potion from his bag and sprayed it on Pikachu.

"Thanks Barry I owe you one." Ash said with a smile as he sprayed the potion on Pikachu's wounds.

"Don't worry about it, it's my fault." Barry waved it off, he seemed uninterested but in reality he was calculating something.

'I was able to beat Ash with Nidoran, does that make Nidoran as strong as that Snivy or maybe its more on the Onix side.' Barry wondered as he absentmindedly fiddled with his backpack.

'There's probably something wrong here.' Prof. Oak wondered.

'He should have been able to defeat Barry easily, he was able to use that 3-hit combo to secure another victory.' In all his years he had never been confused. 'Or maybe it takes a lot out of him to use, that was why he lost so easily.'

But would Professor Oak ever know it was because of the nerf the scriptwriter gave him?

"Barry and Blue's match is next, you should allow your Pokémon rest for 5 minutes before we continue." Prof. Oak said.

He was pacing around thinking about something very seriously.

Barry and Nidoran sat on the ground, they were discussing about a strategy.

"Do you hear something?" Leaf's soft voice sounded.

Prof. Oak turned to hear in an instant, everyone began listening and what they heard was offensive.

"Spear." "Spear." "Spear."

Numerous Spearow's were descending like eagle's from the sky.

"Spearows." Prof. Oak muttered.

The avian Pokémon had a menancing air around them, they were in some sort of spear formation, 7 making the sharp tip while the others acted as the handle, their narrow dark brown eyes seemed to carry the eyes of predators that had found easy prey.

"Charizard." The old man called to his Pokémon.

The orange flying lizard Pokémon that had been acting as a guard lazily brought its head up, looking at the bird Pokémon with sleepy eyes.

Then it opened its mouth, a blue flame ascending like it was fired from a real flamethrower.

"Spearow!" The bird Pokémon sensed the danger with the attack, their once coordinated formation destroyed in a second as the Pokémon tried to fly away.

They let out screams of despair as they were burnt alive, some managed to escape while others fell from the sky like mosquitoes after inhaling insecticide, burnt.

"You did well, I would've been disappointed if you burnt all of them." Prof. Oak said with a smile to Charizard.

The Pokémon just lazily turned its head and closed its eyes.

"Now... I guess we can give half of them to the Pokémon Center to heal but what about the rest." Prof. Oak wondered aloud.

"Professor!" Barry called out breaking the man's train of thoughts.

"Yes, Barry."

"Can I take some of the chicken?"
