The body of several Rattatas were littered on the grass, scarlet red liquid staining the small plants.
The site was close to a tent, Barry's tent to be precise. After spending several minutes evading doom being brought onto him by Rattatas Nidoran had finally finished poisoning all the nearby Rattatas.
He only had a few bruises from falling down onto hard objects, a deep wound on his arm that one of the Rattata's had inflicted on him and some scratches. Nidoran on the other hand was perfectly fine, if not for fatigue he would've diagnosed it as okay.
Looking at the damage Barry returned Nidoran, the pokémon would have much better rest there.
Now that he finally had Rattatas off his back his thoughts wondered if he should still camp here.
"No." As soon as the thought came it was expelled easily. "The pokédex says if I see one there are 40 more, that means the chances of seeing Raticate also happens."
Nidoran had just entered the teen stages of life, compared to a Raticate he would pale in comparison, especially after a long fight wasting all its energy.
With those thoughts Barry entered his tent and carried his Silph co. bag, he proceeded to pack everything he had brought out back in.
When he was done he spared one last look at the pokémon bodies littered before leaving, he had a flashlight; which sensible person on an adventure wouldn't have a flashlight.
This time Barry made sure not to go into random territories, he made sure he had at least gotten 1 km away from the incident before looking for somewhere to camp.
Since he had no pokémon for protection he was weary of his surroundings as the Rattata incident was still fresh in his mind.
Because it was nighttime several pokémon were asleep so he was able to pinpoint which one was the most safest to camp.
After an hour of searching he finally came across a place that there were Pidgeys, Pidgeys were much calmer pokémon than Rattata and Spearow. They seldom attack trainers and in the times they do they only need to be given some food and they will leave the trainer alone.
Those were Barry's thoughts.
But now that he thought back to it Rattatas were also the same way, normally he would have been able to silence them with food but they were aggressive. He had probably done something to offend them.
He decided not to mull on it, instead of lighting a fire Barry used the flashlight while opening the tent. As soon as it was set up he entered it trying to fall asleep, his mind wandered to how the others were doing.
He laughed a bit when he thought that Gary was going to have a hard time because he had no car unlike the anime.
With those thoughts he fell asleep, the night took him into its embrace.
….
Barry woke up with an aching back, his backside didn't agree with such a hard and solid bed.
He checked his pokéballs and saw his pokémon were still sleeping, he thought that he should probably give them more time to rest due to the events that transpired yesterday.
Probably...
He went outside to receive the new morning.
Grasping the balls tightly he released both pokémon from their pokéballs, to his surprise even though they had been released they were still sleeping.
"Nidoran, Pidgey! Wake up, we're under attack!" Barry screamed.
Nidoran got up grouchily the lack of sleep evident in its eyes. Pidgey on the other hand got up with a fury, it used gust immediately.
Barry regretted it instantly, he should have known that because Pidgey was formerly a wild pokémon it senses would be sharp.
Pidgey used gust as soon as it woke up, flapping its wings she formed a powerful wind to rise blowing the tent away.
Barry instantly cursed out loud as his tent was blown away.
A tent cost 900 poké, Barry was only given 10,000 poké. Though food in the pokémon center were free due to his sponsorship he planned to use 2000 poké to buy antidotes for scamming in Mt. Moon.
Money was of the essence.
Barry ran after the tent, by now Pidgey had gotten a hold of itself after noticing no nearby enemies and had stopped using gust.
With a leap into the air Barry caught the falling tent before it could fall into a pond, unfortunately he was right above the pond and fell into the pond.
Barry could only sigh as he took off his clothes, he could catch a cold if he continued to wear it.
He pulled off his clothes leaving him only in his boxers, after drying them on the grass he looked at the pokémon he had woken up.
…
Barry sat cross-legged in a meditative position besides him were Pidgey and Nidoran who also took part of this new training, he planned for them to learn calm mind.
Calm mind was an important move and if used properly it could turn the tide of a battle.
He believed that meditation would be a starting line to grasping the move that was why he started, during his stay in Route 1 he planned to train for the amount of time he had available.
Brock wasn't a pushover in this world, to say the least he was actually top 16 in the Indigo League and was chosen to be a gym leader for that very reason.
He was also successful with women too and a very popular leader.
Brock had an amazing life in this world even though he didn't have a father growing up, he also had his other 9 siblings to take care of, but that didn't stop him from becoming a trainer. Would a sane person leave this life behind and go with a 15 year old boy with a Pikachu on a journey through Kanto? That was the question.
Shrugging those thoughts out of his mind he tried to concentrate, the method of meditation which involved having a blank mind was hard for him to achieve.
But the way he felt like was having a crowded mind and trying to paint over it to hide the fact that it was there in the first place. But it was a failed effort.
Even though he tried his best he still couldn't do it, like that 40 minutes passed.
By the time Barry opened his eyes he saw that the sky had brightened up by a bit and the sun was shining brightly.
"You can stop now." Barry said as he got up.
The pokémon didn't mind him as they seemed to be in a trance, unaware from the happenings of the outside world.
"Wake up." This time he clapped loudly.
The noise awakened the two pokémon as they looked confused at Barry.
Pokémon were beings blessed with immense capabilites; a human being learning tai chi would take years before any result would show, but a fighting type pokémon on the other hand would only need months before seeing results.
While Barry had trouble even beginning to start meditating his pokémon had already made decent progress.
Barry was relived when he saw that, he didn't have to wait to be in Mt. Moon before his pokémon finally mastered it
... They would have done it by Viridian forest!
