Chapter 6 - Weak

Opening his eyes after what felt like an eternity, Vyse found himself on his bed, alone in his room.

He tried glancing at the window but was unable to do so.

"Why can't I move my neck" He thought and tried once again to move it only to fail. The stiffness was not only felt physically but mentally too. His mind was burdened with the fact that his limbs were not responding to him.

Panic began to rise "WHY WHY WHY WHY, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO SIDE EFFECT, WHY" he cried out loud that sounded gibberish, so loud that his family barged into his room. Only to find him crying.

"Vyse why are you crying? what happened son" His mom inquired while embracing him in a warm hug.

Vyse tried to make words yet he failed. He realized that his body had been paralyzed due to the failure of the ritual.

He tried to move his limbs but the sensation of being unable to move them was a nightmare to him. He had a lot to do, but he couldn't, his body needed to move, Why is it that his body always gives up, Why did you give me another chance to snatch it from me, WHY WHY WHY WHY!

Each failed effort only magnified his isolation, leaving him alone with the deafening silence of his own immobility.

"Vyse please stop crying and tell us what had happened." His family asked to which Vyse replied with words that made no sense.

Due to paralysis, he was unable to form words properly, so these sounded like gibberish.

His father soon realized that he had become immobile, and what came next was a shock to his whole family.

Victor rushed out, toward his master seeking answers and what had led to his son's paralysis.

"The Ritual was supposed to be harmless someone must have interfered with the potion or the ritual," Victor thought.

Moving through the colossal walls of the palace, he soon found himself in front of the golden door, he used his spell to open the enormous door and started to levitate in the air.

He was in a hurry and panicked, his only son had been paralyzed, no his kingdom's hope was paralyzed.

He found himself navigating through the capital, towards Vyse's master's house.

Victor burst into the study of Vyse's master, his face a mixture of desperation and determination. The room was filled with ancient tomes and mystical artifacts, their presence a testament to the master's deep knowledge and experience. The master being a weathered figure known for his command over arcane arts, looked up from his desk with an expression of concern.

"Master Kael! My son-Vyse-he's been paralyzed. Please, help him." Victor's voice was strained and filled with despair.

Even after being the strongest human, Victor felt weak. He was truly weak in this world. He couldn't even help his son, he had even failed at detecting the potion.

Master Kael's eyes widened. "Paralyzed?"

"It had never happened before, It has always been a harmless procedure. It's not something that should have resulted in dire consequences." Kael pointed out.

Victor nodded, his anxiety rising by every second, "Right now, we need to hurry".

Kael walked over to a large, ornate chest and began rummaging through it, retrieving various scrolls and vials. "We must act quickly. there are ways to potentially reverse the effect, but first, we need to understand what went wrong."

Victor, although deeply worried, tried to calm himself.

Vyse's mother was hella worried about her son, she was deeply worried about him.

She still embracing Vyse in her arms, tried to reason with his situation but failed to do so.

His sister was trying her best to console her mother yet she too, had failed to grasp the reality.

Vyse was in a panic, he questioned his pitiful existence and his body that always gave up.

Earlier, too, his body had failed him, his will has always been unwavering but today it broke. His dreams were shattered, His plan to avenge his sister too was in dismay.

"How did I even think that I had a chance to grow stronger, more powerful when my body can't even handle this much. Even Victor is the strongest human but that's it, He's only a human after all. His body too, has its limit."

"Yeah, he too had failed, he needed external help to become powerful. Human body is too weak,"

"If even someone like father, who had every resource and support, could only reach so far before faltering, what chance do I have? Am I destined to be trapped in this cycle of striving and failing? The reality is brutal-human can't win, we are weak, our bodies are weak, our minds are weak. It shatters at the slightest pain, and no matter how hard I try, I might always be held back by the very thing I'm trying to surpass."

'Yeah, It's not just about my limitations, but the inherent fragility of the human form itself. It is that this struggle is futile, a never-ending battle against an insurmountable barrier. How could someone as weak as I had hoped to overcome this barrier."

Vyse confronted this relentless truth.

"We need to hurry, Kael" Victor voice rang in the the study.

Suddenly they found themselves in Vyse's room.

They were teleported in the room through Vyse's master Kael's sorcery.

Without wasting any more time, Kael hurried toward Vyse's bed, sidding his sister and mother.

He then grabbed Vyse's hand and chanted some spells that soon enveloped Vyse's body in light.

It flashed so brightly that Vyse's sister and mother had to shut-close their eyes.

Vyse shouted in pain, He was in a lot of pain. His mind was in turmoil.
