It had been a year since the ritual, Vyse was now 11 years old, and his body was pretty slim. He found his mother sleeping next to him, taking care of his sick body.
He had lost all his will.
He now only wanted to die peacefully, as being paralyzed closed all the doors for him. He was stuck in this world with a power that could be trampled by anyone.
His father, Victor was still trying to fix his body. He had already traveled half the world and had contacted most of the prominent sages and yet they were unable to fix this nature of his body.
Except for the occasional snoring of his mother, the room was peaceful.
But the atmosphere wasn't, Vyse was having suicidal thoughts now, he was tired of being in this vegetative state, "If I don't kill my self than the corruption will do, after all it had now risen to his neck region. At start, it was just his legs that were corrupted but over the period, the corruption has risen to his neck region. He was the only one who could see these particles, his father too knew that and that's why he was now finding a way to contact someone who could remove the corruption from his whole body but it wasn't as easy as it seemed." His thoughts continued "He had been finding someone to control it for over 5 months now yet Victor had made no progress whatsoever." Vyse's will to live was reducing day by day.
He didn't even think about his previous life anymore, yeah he had promised himself to take revenge but he couldn't, he was too weak and now he can't grow any more powerful.
He resented himself for this but he couldn't do anything about it as it was his destiny that led him here. "Even after getting another chance at life, he failed to live it." Vyse thought.
As he could have enjoyed his life here but no he wanted to grow powerful and avenge his family from his previous life that did not matter here, in this world.
Author note: Only Vyse can see both mana and corruption in the environment, his eyes were mutated while training due to unknown reasons.
He was going to give up if his father failed again, he was unable to see his family suffering every day, "Victor is still young and mom can bear another child, I am just a dead weight they are carrying, I can't see the suffering anymore. I too don't want to suffer anymore." Vyse thought while lying on his bed.
His father was out, finding someone who could heal his son's rare condition. Victor too was in a hurry as the family's elder had started to pressure him to have another child and let Vyse rest eternally.
They were the ones who truly maintained the kingdom, They were the council that controlled Skye family and Skye kingdom.
Right now, Victor was out in an unknown region, finding a cure for his son's condition.
This region was snowy and seemed to be a snow desert as Victor was still to see any life inhabiting this region. Vyse had told Victor about his condition, about corruption.
Victor had asked an old sage that too came to cure Vyse about how could he cure his son's condition, he also told him about the corruption to which the sage had raised his eyebrow and told him that he was to find an ancient devil in this region that could help him cure his son's condition but he also warned Victor that he might now find anything in the region as a lot of time had already passed.
The region was an unforgiving expanse of white that stretched endlessly under a perpetually overcast sky, The snow itself seemed to be dead, It was as if the land had been frozen in a state of perpetual twilight, the snow reflecting a dim, mournful light that gave the entire landscape a spectral quality.
After months of searching in the dead region, Victor finally found an ancient ruin that seemed to belong to the civilization that once lived here.
The ruin was half-submerged in the snow and was shrouded in a veil of darkness, the remnants of what had been giant monstrosities loomed like the skeletal remains.
The massive columns were weathered by time, the stones used in the building still remained intact, "What monstrosity had fought here" was the only thought that loomed over Victor's mind as he was still grasping the sheer size of the remains and the fact that the stone had survived their battle.
Victor saw the broken head of a statue, that smiled creepily. "Whoever crafted this, was truly a psychopath as Victor felt a chill when he looked at the smile of the stone head."
"This head had survived countless eons, the stone was definitely a rare material." Victor thought.
Moving ahead Victor soon noticed multiple stone heads that had the same creepy smile.
He soon reached the center of the ruin there he found an altar that had a head, at least the skull that seemed to belong to the head region.
It laid on the altar, now covered by the snow. Victor was enchanted by the scene and his interest piqued up as he thought that maybe this would lead to him to the devil's lair.
A smile finally came on his old face, which now had multiple wrinkles due to the stress his mind and his body had suffered.
But now there was an opportunity, an opportunity to heal his son's condition.
And so without wasting any more time, Victor touched the skull, which had two horns protruding out.
*swish*
This touch, brought multiple flickering lights from an unknown source and soon a eerie shadow painted across Victor's body.
