Chapter 3 - Can't Catch Me Now

Neive Himaa had died. She was the Warrior of light. She died saving the world. Neive had fought Zenos and lost. He hurt her past the point of no return. In his jail cell later he would tell the scions of how they fought, how she got distracted and got hit. He remembers hitting her too hard - hearing something crack. He mourned the loss of the AuRa warrior, sitting in prison for years, being released once the scions found Neive's will. Neive's will had mentioned that all her belongings were to go to Thancred and Urianger, that they would be the best to hold onto her memories. She had stated that her loving partners would live longer than her after the final battle - that she knew she would die. It had also mentioned Zenos' confessions, He had told her of everything he never wanted to do, how he was a weapon born to kill for the empire - even when he never wished for it.

Zenos struggled to continue living. He had volunteered to help the Radz-At-Han trades with the former Garlean Empire, doing everything in his power to make up for everything and to be a better person. Vrtra had mentored him, guiding him to things that Neive was passionate about. He became a translator for Vrtra, living the rest of his life as an Official along side the Dragon. He swore he could hear her whisper to him in the hannish breeze "You'll see my face in every place But you can't catch me now" he would tell Vrtra of these whispers, who would explain the aether stream and that she was free with the elements now. He would explain that perhaps the ties to Hades explained why he could hear her whispers while most couldn't. He began looking into AuRa customs and how those of the steppe as well as Radz-At-Han would honor those who passed. Building a place for people in the city to mourn their lost family and friends, the whispers became less frequent - but they were just as loud as before. While placing an offering at the altar, he heard her whisper once again "Through wading grass, the months will pass, You'll feel it all around I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere But you can't catch me now" It was a song. He listened as she sang to him from the aether - knowing that she was slowly fading like the other ancients, but she would always haunt him.
