Chapter 14 - Oh 2 lie

The Pinocchio Paradox: A logical paradox that arises when Pinocchio says, "My nose will grow." Now, what happens when Pinocchio says it? Well, a strange thing occurs. As you know, Pinocchio's nose grows when he tells a lie. If Pinocchio's nose doesn't grow, then he is telling a lie. Which would make his nose grow. Making it that he's telling the truth. But if he is telling the truth, his nose will grow. But that only happens when he lies, so him telling the truth shouldn't make his nose grow. This cycle of contradiction repeats, creating a paradox. **The Pinocchio Paradox**.

What occurs is the bending of reality itself, making it so that it exists in both states. So if the lady says, "Hands shall appear from my back," then invisible and unknowing arms appear, unaware to anyone besides the lady.

Now, back to the story.

Vex, raising her shotgun, lets off a shot, pushing back Widow and into a wall. "Grab them two and get out of here—I'll handle her," said Violet.

Quickly, Violet grabs Kínitos in confusion as he kicks; she then runs over, grabs Monti, both men lost in confusion. Violet runs out of the room and into the hallway. Widow raises her hand in frustration. Going to stop them in retaliation, Vex lets off a shot.

"Well, you're quite clever, huh? My hand shall grow," said Widow, moving closer and closer toward Vex.

Black smoke makes its way into Vex's eyes as she mumbles incoherent words. Both ladies lock in a thrilling fight to the death. Math and words float around Vex as she then laughs to herself. Shots still firing at Widow. Vex sees it just for a moment:

She saw several transparent arms. They were longer than any snake. They wrapped and curled upon itself in front of her, forming a shield of arms strong enough to handle the shotgun shots.

"Annoying-ass bitch, she changed her fucking formula," Vex thought to herself.

"Arms shall grow," said Widow out loud.

*'Dodge left,'* a voice said to Vex. Quickly leaping to the left and letting out two more shots, sending Widow backward, the ground she was just at destroyed.

A light purple energy swirls around Widow's stomach as hundreds of words float. Vex's eyes move rapidly, letting off more shots. The phantom arm flickers in and out of view as the invisibility stops, showing over a dozen arms are up.

"There we go—fuck that invisibility," said Vex with a large smile across her face.

"You think you can beat me on your own?" asked Widow in a mocking tone.

"Yeah, and quite easily too," replied Vex.

Looking up, she sees two arms holding the edge of the hole, hoisting Widow up in the air. Both looked at each other, several arms in front of Widow. Gun smoke and dust fill the air. Vex slowly and carefully moves sideways. The metallic smell stings her nose. Dust enters her lungs, and small rocks strike her foot.

Vex, with a quick and precise shot, hits both arms as they blow off. Falling to the floor, one arm stretches out, grabbing onto a wall and slowing down her fall. Quickly reaching into her suitcase, she grabs two assault weapons out.

"What the hell ho—" Widow says, being cut off by the onslaught of bullets. Gun smoke stains the air as the rings of each gunshot echo into the hall, stretching through the whole hospital building.

Violet ran fast and quick. Both men were shocked and confused, minds contorted by the blinding speed. Kínitos' stomach turned, feeling a volcano of vomit about to erupt.

"W-wait, slow down," pleaded Kínitos.

Violet does as commanded, putting both men down as they struggle to catch their footing. Looking back, Violet sees Vex running out of the room with suitcase in hand. Suddenly, a large explosion engulfs the entire room.

"W-who the hell are you people?" asked Monti, the words crawling their way out his lips.

"Oh, we are Para D," said Violet with a smile.

From the pitch-black smoke, Widow shoots out. Each arm stretches long, hoisting her up in the air as she swings after Vex, using the walls and ceilings. Leaving small hand prints on her way

"Violet! Her ability is invisible, but she's able to make unseeable arms!!" yelled out Vex.

"We're here to help and assist you with your newfound powers and abilities," said Violet in a calm, nurturing voice.

Widow, with her arms, hurls debris and hospital equipment at Vex. With each throw, Vex dodges seamlessly.

"Your aim needs some work, sweetheart!!" yelled out Vex.

"Fucking die" Widow spat back at her.

Violet breathes in the black smoke surrounding her. With one stride, she appears right in front of Widow, coiling her arm back to deliver a devastating blow. Widow holds up her arms for defense. In the corner of Violet's eye, a large fist launches her through a wall and outside the hospital.

"Shit, Violet!!!" yelled out Vex.

"Ohh, this is so much fun!!" said a man with a Russian accent.

"There you are—took you long enough," said Widow.

"Widow, my love, I beg for your forgiveness," said the man.

"Yeah, yeah—just kill them, Gor," replied Widow.

"Shit, he's big—real big. Where the fuck is Jes?"thought Vex.

Blood ran down her face as the rushing wind blew her hair wildly. Looking back, she saw the hospital disappearing into the background. Her ears rang from the collision. Still flying midair, she lets out a long sigh.

"How is he still alive? I caved in his skull with my bare hands," Violet thought to herself.

Looking backward, she sees a building growing bigger as she's about to crash. Holding her arms up, she blinks—suddenly finding herself on a rooftop. A man holds her: light-pale skin, bone-white hair with two braids hanging in the front, skinny yet muscular, calves massive like tree trunks. Placing her down gently. A lollipop hangs from his mouth as he winks.

"When I say I want you to fall for me, I didn't mean literally," said the man.

"Hey, Dante," replied Violet, ignoring his response.

"Hello, Violet. Now, what happened to your face?" questioned Dante, anger filling his tone.

"Nothing too bad. Where's Jes?" asked Violet.

"Oh, she's headed toward the hospital," said Dante.

"That's good that means we won" said Violet as she flops to the ground laying there.

Gor, with quick speed, runs up toward Violet. A voice commands her to dodge left, then right. Widow closes in on Vex, then stops, looking at Kínitos.

"Oh, sweetheart—you're going to pass out if you leave that open," said Widow.

Kínitos' muscles ache, his body feeling the pressure of a car pressed against it. His eyes flutter open and shut as he falls. Monti grabs him, lying his head onto his shoulder. Gor attacks again, blows inching closer.

Gor catches her, smiling with razor-sharp teeth as he goes to bite her throat. The wall explodes, sending him flying through rooms. Floating in the sky is a short woman—no more than 5'2", her small stature overshadowed by ankle-length silver hair flowing magically. She was truly breathless. Kínitos looks up in awe and confusion.

"J-Jes… is that Jes?" Kínitos said, falling unconscious.
