Chapter 16 - 2 lies and a Truth

"Now who are you, little thing?" asked Widow, eyeing her up and down. Ignoring her, she looked left to right before floating down toward Vex, her hair swaying in the wind.

"Took you long enough, Jes," said Vex.

Taking a bag out of her oversized red jacket, she threw a bag of sour worms at Vex. Going past her, she looked at Monti and Kínitos. His eyes were wide open and locked on her, his mind as empty as a sheet of paper.

"Jes, how, what… where—" Words fumbled over themselves like a drunken fool as they locked eyes. Both felt understanding and confusion, but happiness filled their hearts as she glanced at Kínitos.

She tenderly placed her hand upon his cheeks. As her hand glided down to his chin, a small smile appeared on her face. Her eyes widened as she looked down, seeing black smoke slowly leaving his body. His skin was inhumanly hot, as if cooking a man in a stove.

The smile faded as she planted her hand on his chest, stopping the smoke. She smiled again, her warmth akin to the morning sun. Footsteps shook the ground as Gor walked through the destroyed walls. His eyes fell upon her as his dangling arm snapped into place. Black smoke seeped into his body as he breathed, muscles swelling.

"Aren't you little," said Gor.

"And aren't you a grim dark fairy tale? Don't you got a grandma and a little girl in red to save?" said Jes.

"Well, I'm here to save you," Gor replied, his nails growing and hair stretching out.

"Oh, more of a big bad wolf—explains the smell," said Jes, jabbing at him.

"Wow, you're going to be a lot of fun," Gor said. Her smile quickly faded.

"Well, you're sure right about that," said Jes.

Both ran at each other. With one step, Gor appeared behind her. *Quick* came to her mind as she dodged his punch effortlessly. A smile came across his face as he continued his attacks. With a quick kick to his neck, he went flying.

"Now. Please tell me arms aren't your only ability?" she asked, blue energy slowly covering her whole body.

"Wait, how did you know?" asked Widow.

"Oh, sweetheart, it's a simple riddle. Anyone who passed fifth grade could solve it," said Jes.

"So the moment we met you were trying to solve it? Wow, you're quick," said Widow.

"Oh no, no, no, sweetheart… I solved it the moment I laid eyes on those perfect tits," said Jes.

"Wow, never thought I'd be sexualized by a woman," said Widow.

"Question—why's the left one bigger than the right one?" asked Jes jokingly.

"Fuck you, bitch," countered Widow.

"Oh ouch!! My feelings. What will I ever do?" replied Jes sarcastically, pretending to cry unconvincingly.

Arms shot like rockets toward Jes as she jumped and dodged. Moving sporadically—jumping onto the wall, into a backflip, sliding, and ducking. From the corner of her eye, she saw Gor charging at her as he threw a punch. His purple skin shine in the moonlight. Jes grabbed hold of his arm, propelled herself, and kicked him in the face.

Launching him back, several more phantom arms came at Jes. One grabbed hold of her as Gor landed a devastating axe kick to her head, launching her down to the ground floor.

"Now that she has been dealt with, let's get this over with," said Widow.

Looking over at Vex helping Monti and placing Kínitos on the ground, she pulled out her phone to call. Gor stood at the hole in the ground that revealed the other floors.

"Are you stupid? We killed your friend, and that's what you're doing?" said Widow. Still Vex ignored her.

"Shit, you have to be kidding me," said Gor nervously.

"What, what's up with you?" asked Widow.

"Press the button!" said Gor. Looking over at Widow, she quickly obeyed. From her pocket, she pressed down on a black-and-white button. Looking back down the hole, she saw she was gone.

"Wow, a big guy like you scared of little old me? I'm flattered," said Jes.

Quickly, he punched her as she flew back. He continued his barrage of punches nonstop, growing a foot in height. He grabbed her face, dragged it along the walls while running, then threw her through the ceiling and followed suit. Dust filled the air; he waved a hand to clear it, seeing no one ahead.

"Your friend is quite irrational," said Jes. Looking left, Widow saw not a single scratch on her—not even her clothes were damaged.

"How did you survive?" asked Widow, puzzled.

"Huh? Oh, simple—I eat my spinach!! So I'm invincible," Jes replied cheekily.

"You're really pissing me off. My hand shall grow to destroy all," said Widow, raising both hands.

Energy coated around them as a transparent hand, the size of a truck, grabbed hold of Jes. She began to squeeze, but Jes stood unfazed.

"Oh, baby, chuck me harder," said Jes.

"What the hell," said Widow. With a simple flex, Jes broke free and jumped backward.

"You're really strong," said Gor, standing next to Widow.

"And you're not," said Jes.

"I'll end you with one move," said Gor, his nails sharp as blades. Appearing behind Jes, he swung with unthinkable speed— than boom he struck behind her back.

"Are you in yet?" Jes toyed, unfazed.

"Wait—that aura, that formula… you're Achilles and the tortoise," said Gor.

"The downside with my ability is it's kinda obvious," said Jes.

"You really can't take any damage," said Gor.

Jes smiled, throwing several punches that cracked his body, muscles tearing like paper. Widow swatted Jes away with one hand and yanked Gor toward her with the other, keeping distance.

Through the large hole in the wall, an alien spacecraft appeared. Widow stretched a phantom hand to grab it, pulling Gor, and Suris alongside her. Jes stared in confusion.

"Aliens?" she said to herself.

"Sorry, sweetheart, but we gotta catch our flight," said Widow. Jes flew toward the spaceship—it vanished before her.
