Chapter 18 - A meeting

Eyes open up to a large room. The room is made of entirely wood, of different types. His king-size bed is spilled with pillows and stuffed animals. Confused, he gets up, looking around. He walked up to the door on the other side of the wall. Stopping as he looks at his arms, which only have scratch marks. They look as if a cat used his arms as a playground.

"Where am I?" said Kínitos, his voice strained with last night's close calls of death.

"Oh shit, Monti, where's Monti?" he thought to himself, rushing out as he flings open the wooden door.

It opens to reveal a room with a large bed, and Monti laid on top of it. Running to his side, he knocked over a lamp. Ignoring the shattered lamp, he went to his side as he shakes him awake.

"Monti, get up, get up!!" Kínitos yelled. Eyes open in confusion as Monti quickly grabs Kínitos' face.

"What happened? Where are we?" asked Monti.

"I don't know," replied Kínitos.

"Wait, Jes, where's Jes?" said Monti.

Memories of the chaos rush Kínitos' mind. Explosions coming from everywhere in the hospital. A strong, buff lady grabbing a hold of him and Monti. Then, yes, then Jes appeared, floating on air itself as she looked at him.

"Jes, you're right, I remember Jes," said Kínitos.

The door flings open as both men whip their heads towards the door. Seeing Axe stand in front of the door with his large frame. Looking around, his eyes miss the men as he looks at the broken lamp.

"What the hell? Why are y'all breaking my shit!!" yelled out Axe.

"Who are you?" asked Monti in confusion, putting up a defensive stance.

"It's rude to answer a question with a question," said Vex, her voice breaking through Axe's cries as he works away at the lamp. She walks, appearing in front of the doorway.

"You were there," said Kínitos.

"Yes, I was. Aren't you smart," said Vex, smiling at both men.

"Where did you take us?" questioned Monti.

"Aren't you nosey, and aren't you spry," said Vex, pointing over at Kínitos.

"Yes, we are, and—" said Monti, walking over towards her. Quickly, Axe cuts him off as he stood between them both.

"Well, hello, nice to meet you, big guy. What's your name?" asked Monti. Looking up at Axe with his large beard hanging down his face, like vines in a forest.

"Axe, and what's yours?" Looking at both men, Axe asked the question.

"I'm Monti, and my friend back there is—" Before Monti could finish, he gets cut off.

"You don't speak for him. He doesn't speak for you, now does he?" asked Axe, looking over at Kínitos.

"I guess not. I'm Kínitos, or Kin for short," said Kínitos, nervously looking up at Axe's frame.

"Well, both of you must rest. Your bodies must be dead tired," said Axe.

"Where fin—" Kínitos dropped to his knees. His head spins as his vision struggled.

"You should go to sleep," Axe cut off.

"Please leave them alone," said Jes.

She runs through the door, running past Axe and Monti as she goes over to Kínitos. Grabbing onto Kínitos, holding him up. Vex closes the door behind them.

"Jes, how are you here?" asked Kínitos.

"Don't worry about that. You look hungry," replied Jes.

Grabbing both Kínitos and Monti, she dragged them. Opening the door as they looked at a large kitchen with a giant table that appears to be made out of marble. A kitchen from old, redesigned for modern times. Jade has a newspaper in hand as Dante sat with his feet on the table.

"W-wait, what? We were—that door, it was my room," said Kínitos in complete bewilderment.

"Oh, don't worry about that. That's Axe's paradox," said Jes.

"So, you're the new faces around here. Dante, feet down. Now," Jade commanded.

"Oh, hey, Jade, how are you?" said Jes.

"Stop, please stop, 'cause please tell me why there's so much damage at the hospital?" Jade questioned. Putting down his newspaper, looking straight at Jes.

"Well, that giant hole was my fault, but everything else wasn't," replied Jes.

"Well, who was it?" persisted Jade, looking over at Vex. Walking over to the table, she picked up a banana as she peels and takes a bite.

"Not our fault. It was them too. You should have seen the energy on them," mumbled Vex, banana spitting on the floor.

"Mouth closed. You're grown," irritation clawing Jade's voice.

"She's right. They had a lot of energy, and also, there were some weird people," said Vex.

Looking at Monti and Kínitos, he motioned over at the chair. Jes, pulling out the chair for them, sat in the middle of them both. Axe walks over to the kitchen as he opens the stove, pulling out lasagna. He placed it on the table as he looked at Dante. In a second, he vanished from his sight. Plates appear on the table as Dante sat at the table.

"Nice to meet you, Kínitos and Monti," said Jade.

"How do you know our names?" asked Kínitos.

"Jes, how do I know their names? I've never met them," said Jade.

"His ability allows him to know a lot," said Jes.

Axe went around the dinner table, serving everyone. He then looked at Dante. Then, again, he vanished, and glass cups and silverware appeared in front of everyone. A large bottle of lemonade stood in front as well. A bottle of champagne.

"And what's his ability?" asked a confused Monti.

"I'm the arrow paradox, sweetheart," said Dante.

"This is completely crazy," muttered Kínitos.

"It is, isn't it? This is just the beginning," said Jes.

"Well, enjoy the food 'cause we have a lot to discuss," said Jade.
