"HerSHH-ey's kisses." I said and walked away.
I heard her wheeze behind my back and yell, "Good one!"
I laughed and left the library. At least now I know how he somewhat looked like.
"Should I ask her friends? Maybe they know something about him.." I mumbled.
But she didn't tell me his name and didn't mention it anywhere. I don't think any of her friends know about her relationship.
I started walking while looking at my phone.
Just two weeks left.. For my marriage.
Just then three pairs of heels stepped in front of me. I slowly looked up and saw a group of girls. They were heavily dressed up and were wearing a lot of jewellery. They would have definitely looked better if they had applied lesser makeup.
"Hey, I like your style." the one on the left side spoke.
"Thanks?" I said.
They suddenly started laughing. I was creeped out now.
"I was being sarcastic, you dumb bitch." she said, rolling her eyes.
What do these girls want from me? Why did they randomly approach me like this?
"So, where's your 'husband-to-be'?" the one in the middle spoke.
"My husband-to-be?" I repeated.
That was when I recognized her. She was the same girl who talked to Andrew in the cafe.
"Uh, yeah? Don't tell me he already dumped you." She started laughing.
"Unlike some people here, he actually has work." I said, folding my arms.
She glared at me.
"Listen here, just because you got a good-looking, rich fiancé, doesn't mean you can talk to me like that." she came closer.
"And who are you?" I smiled.
The other two girls gasped for I seriously-don't-know what.
"You're kidding, you don't know her? Her?" right-side-girl finally said something.
"Do I need to repeat myself?" I asked.
"This is Charlotte Brinkley, the top-ranked model. She has been in so many movies and shows. How the hell do you not know her?" she replied.
"Never saw her. Now, can you three move aside? I have to be somewhere right now." I said.
"Nobody ever leaves before I finish talking to them." Charlotte give me a slight push.
She came closer and at the same time a strong hand pulled me behind. I almost tripped and looked at the person.
It was a tall guy, he had one hand in his pocket and then spoke, "Why do you like troubling everyone you see on the street, Charlotte?"
"Oh, come on! Why do always interfere with what I'm doing? I'm an adult now. Leave me alone sometimes!" she shouted and stormed off. The other two followed her.
"If I leave you alone, you won't survive an hour." he mumbled and looked at me.
I raised my eyebrows. Are they a couple?
"Sorry about my sister." he said.
Thank god I didn't ask him if they were a couple.
"Sister? Oh, okay.. No worries." I said, nodding.
Silence surrounded both of us.
"I'm Lily, Lily Wilson." I said.
"I am Jacob Brinkley, nice to meet you." he smiled.
"Why did you help me out?" I asked. "Cuz, you're my friend's lil sister.. And also because Charlotte keeps getting into trouble with strangers, so to stop a fight between you both, I had to interfere." he said.
"You're Ally's friend?" I asked.
"Yeah, I think you saw me at her funeral.." He lowered his voice.
I started thinking, where I could have seen him.
"I was the one behind the tree."
"Oh!! So, that was you. Why were you behind the tree and not with everyone else?" I asked.
"I wasn't in a good emotional state, and I also had no control on my words... I didn't want to ruin everyone's mood even more." He replied.
"Hmm.."
"I.. I would like to tell you something important. It's regarding your sister. Can we take a walk?" he asked.
What does he want to talk to me about? Could he possibly know who was behind her death? Or maybe about her boyfriend?
"Sure." I nodded.
"I'll start from the very beginning. It was a few months ago. Allison started acting really differently. Our friend group did notice and some of us even thought that she was in a relationship. But we didn't actually know. Then one day, I heard her talking on the phone. About some date and time and a place. Allison said 'Bye, love' and so I knew. I didn't tell anyone though, I respected her decision to keep her relationship a secret."
"Did you ever see him?" I asked.
"No.. She never told us about him. Anything at all. But then once again, recently, I heard her speaking on the phone, she mentioned an assassination and that someone was given orders. I didn't understand, but she sounded really worried. I wanted to think that she was just joking or just playing with a friend.."
I attentively listened to him.
"And right after that, I heard about her death. This is an absurd theory, but I think the assassination talk and her boyfriend are related to her death." he finished and stopped walking.
I remained quiet, trying to interpret the information I just got.
"I am going to tell you the truth. I have always liked Allison, or you can say admired her... She didn't deserve that and so I am going to investigate her death. Everything. And I will expose the truth behind her death.." he said.
I looked at him and said, "I am actually also trying to find the culprits.."
"Really?" there was some hope in his eyes.
"Yes, I actually was here to find her boyfriend's identity." I said.
He nodded.
"There are a few things I found. I would like to discuss them with you." I said.
"Let's work together on this?" he asked.
I smiled and we started walking again. Not a single word was exchanged between us and we enjoyed the cool breeze and the lively atmosphere. We decided to sit under a tree just to rest for some time. He sat down.
"Lily?" I heard someone call my name just as I was about to sit beside Jacob.
