Just then, the wind blew from the open window and I looked there.
A paper came flying at great speed and hit my face. "Ow.." I groaned and removed it from my face.
Oh, it was Ally's letter. I read it before leaving and left it on my table. That was very stupid of me to do. Bella or any other servant could have read it.
Why is it so hot in the room even after I opened the windows? My hands are all sweaty and warm.
I got up to keep it in the box under my bed but then I noticed something shiny in the letter.
I got scared and threw it on the floor.
It slowly stopped glowing. Was it some insect? I slowly opened it from a distance and it was just a piece of paper with a few words, which weren't visible in the dark. Nothing inside it.
What was that? I could swear I saw something. I grabbed it again and then folded it. I bent down again to keep it and just then began glowing.
I didn't throw it this time. I opened the letter and checked it.
More words? Glowing words! It was invisible ink. Of course, to make invisible ink visible, heat is also used.
Wow.. So, my hand's grip must have generated heat. I mean I was feeling hot.
Now what was so secretive that he had to write in invisible ink?
'Today, my uncle had a fight with your father. He is not happy with Mr. Wilson's behavior, he told me. Apparently, their partnership took a shitty turn. We have moved a few steps away from our goal.
Take care,
Your knight in shining armor'
I didn't remember anything like that happening before. Or maybe Mr. Wilson just didn't tell me..
Wait.. This was another clue!! I could ask my father which company he got into a brawl with and then I'll know where and who her boyfriend was!
Yes! Oh, thank you.. Thank you, Ally, if it was you who helped me.
"Mr. Wilson?" I knocked on his office's door, the next day.
"Not now, Lily. I'm busy." he replied without even looking at me.
"You got into a fight with some other company before?" I asked.
He paused and looked at me. "How... No, I didn't. I don't know where you people hear all this from." He said.
"Are you sure?" I said, still trying to get an answer out of him.
"Yes, now don't be a bother." he said and started typing something on his laptop.
I noticed he was hesitant when he answered me. Fine. If you won't tell me, I'll find about it myself.
But before that, I had to meet up with Jacob. I had no idea, if he was free today.
I went outside, in the garden. The only time to enjoy this garden was in the early evening. I walked through the long grass and flowers and then sat under one of the trees.
Alright, now let's call Jacob.
I called him and thankfully he picked up. "Hello?"
"Uh, yeah. Hey, Jacob. Are you free today?" I asked.
"Hmmm.. I have that and then that.. Yeah, I'm free after 6." He replied. "Great. So, let's meet in the same market?"
"Sure."
Obviously he would be busy nowadays since he was also a trending model.
"Lily!" I heard someone shout.
I turned to see the source of the sound and found some guy running towards me. He was wearing a mask and sunglasses even though it was evening.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Sorry I'm late. Had to do some last formalities." he said after he stopped in front of me. "Jacob?" I asked.
"Yeah, it's me. Had to disguise myself. I swear, these girls are gonna surround me if they find out who I am in this market. Happened before, so have to careful now." he said, looking around cautiously.
"If it was difficult for you to meet me here, we could have met elsewhere, where there aren't many people." I said, smiling.
"Nah, I like this place anyways. It's always so lively and bustling with teenagers." he said .
I could see him smiling even under the mask.
"So, what happened?" he asked.
"Yeah, so a few days back, I decided to investigate her death. And to begin, I searched her room. In her diary, she mentioned some letters and so I searched for them. After a while, I found three boxes, full of letters. I already read the first two boxes. I didn't find any name in those. But I do know that is was her boyfriend who wrote those letters." I said.
"Hmm.. I would like to read them once, if it's okay with you." he said.
"Oh yeah. Come anytime. Her boyfriend often mentioned some locations and places. I searched a few. And yesterday at night, something amazing happened. It will sound like a made-up story, but it actually happened. I asked my sister to help me out and then a paper flew to my face. When I was about to keep it, something in it began shining." I said.
"Invisible ink?" He asked.
"Correct! How did you know?" I asked, surprised now.
"Well, Allison loved to use invisible ink. She even made me use it once. And it is quite trendy." He said.
"Damn.. So, yeah, he wrote about some quarrel his uncle and my father had. That their partnership took a shitty turn." I said.
He started laughing, "He has a good sense of humor. You can ask your father about the partnership and the quarrel. He might give you some information."
"I did, but he wasn't willing to tell me."
"What a stupid guy, no offense." He said. "None taken." I replied.
"He also wrote that their were a step away from their goal." I said.
"Goal? What goal?" he asked.
"I don't know. I checked all the other letters, which I have read till now. None of them had anything written with invisible ink nor any mentions of the 'goal'." I said.
"Your sister really helped you there." He said.
"Yep, I told you so."
