I was in the room, trying to get comfortable in this dress. Just a few more minutes before I had to leave.
I felt my hands getting cold and sweaty. I looked around for tissues.
I walked over to the small table in the room and grabbed some tissues and my phone.
I opened the photo gallery in my phone and started scrolling through my photos with Ally. It just made me feel relaxed and sometimes even made me happy. I opened a video, from a little more than an year back.
She was on the call in the background and I was with Christie and Mia. They were cracking jokes behind me while I recorded the scene. I started laughing at one of the jokes Mia said in the video.
While I was laughing, my eyes drifted to Ally at the back.
She looked really stressed? Why?
I tried to remember the reason from that time but couldn't. I attempted to bring the phone closer to my ears, to hear her.
But with all the laughing and talking, I couldn't.
I'll ask Dave to separate her audio from the video.
"Lily? Time to leave." I heard Bella knock. "Just a second." I said and walked to the mirror to check my look one last time.
I looked really pretty, I have to say. Bella really made everything perfect.
I walked out and saw Bella dressed as my bridesmaid. She looked like an angel. "Thank you for everything, Bella." I thanked her, because I don't think I thank her enough. She passed me a smile.
I wish Ally was here too.
I walked towards the hall, my hands cold because of the nervousness.
Don't trip on the dress, don't trip on the dress, Lily.
The doors opened and I looked at the setting. The huge chandelier, with rose crystals hanging and shimmering from the ceiling. The walls had an ivory shade and the chairs and tables were white, with polished cutlery and sparkling glassware.
Some of the guests looked back at me and started whispering, some were smiling and some were too busy on their phones.
I started walking on the reflective tiles, trying my best not to trip on the dress. My footsteps echoed and melodious music started playing.
I looked at Andrew, who was waiting for me at the altar with his best man standing behind him with a tray in his hands. I wonder who that was.
The altar was decorated with many flowers with a red carpet on the floor.
My father was also there along with Mr. and Mrs. Anstey.
I reached the altar and stood face-to-face with Andrew. He passed me a gentle smile.
The rings were matching, with a big diamond on the top. I put the ring in his ring finger and he did as well.
The priest finally announced us as husband and wife and I forgot that we had to kiss as well. I bit my lip and I think Andrew noticed that.
He suddenly pulled me close and whispered in my ear, "Don't worry, just a little peck."
I inhaled his scent and looked in his eyes. I nodded lightly and he smiled.
He placed a light kiss on my lips.
It was so gentle that I couldn't believe we actually kissed.
I wish we shared it for a little longer... Wait. No. What was I thinking?
The smiles, laughter, and cheers of the guests made the atmosphere more vibrant and made me forget my previous thoughts.
After greeting a few friends, I walked over to get a drink.
I was troubled by something.. I couldn't find Jacob anywhere. I went to ask Bella, since she knew everyone who was invited and also everyone who showed up.
I spotted her talking to an old couple.
"Hello. Hi.. How are you?" I smiled at the old couple. I think they were my father's friends.
"Oh dear, we're alright. You have grown so much now. Last time I saw you, you couldn't even walk properly and now you're married." The old lady said with a polite laugh.
I laughed back, "I just wanted a moment with Isabella, if that's fine with you."
"Oh sure, dear. Take your time, take your time." The man said and they walked away.
"Is something wrong, Lily?" she asked.
"I just wanted to know if Jacob Brinkley had shown up." I asked. She nodded and started checking her phone.
"Hm... Jacob Brinkley and Charlotte Brinkley haven't shown up yet." She said.
"Oh.. Okay.. Thanks a lot." I said and walked away. I opened my phone and called Jacob.
The line wasn't even ringing. His phone was switched off.
"Lily?" I heard someone.
Andrew stood behind me, he looked tired but happy at the same time.
"Are you okay?" I laughed a little.
He laughed back, "Is my exhaustion that visible?" "Not really but I can make it out." I said.
"Well, I just came to ask if we could share a dance. She really wants me to dance with you." He shifted his eyes to Mrs. Anstey.
I smiled, "Sure."
I gave him my hand and we stepped in the middle, right below the huge and beautiful chandelier. I got into position for the traditional Waltz.
He held my waist and hand and I rested my hand on his shoulder and the other in his hands.
A few lights switched off slowly to match with the gentle notes playing.
We gracefully moved with the music and more couples started joining in, at a gradual pace.
Those midnight dances with Mia and Christie paid off.
"You are pretty good at this. Did you take lessons?" he asked.
"Oh no, I just learned some steps from my friends. What about you?" I asked.
"My mother sent me to dance lessons. Even my brother went for them before. She thinks knowing how to dance is really important." He smiled.
I laughed and tried to enjoy the rest of the dance.
It was pretty tough, considering my huge heels but I managed.
As we concluded the wedding, the guests began taking photos with me and Andrew.
I was still waiting for Jacob. But now that I think of it, maybe he got busy with work. I'll go meet him tomorrow.
