Finally, it was the evening before my wedding day.
Bella had made all the arrangements beforehand, I felt embarrassed I didn't help her out. She booked a few of the hairdressers and makeup artists for the morning.
Even before I wore the dress, it looked like mystical. It looked weird hanging in my simple and plain wardrobe. I wondered if princesses wore these kind of dresses in the past.
I tried it and walked around a little, observing myself in the huge, wide mirror in front of us. The dress highlighted my figure. There were silver beads and studs on the waist, slowly decreasing in number in the upward direction.
The sleeveless cut of the dress emphasized on my collarbone and neckline, giving it a more elegant look. Moreover, it was exactly my size.
Bella really knows everything like the back of her hand.
"I had this dress made for you, since you were quite busy. Thankfully, it's the right size and it looks perfect on you." Bella smiled.
"Thank you. And I'm sorry for not helping you out."
"Oh no, don't worry about that. I'm so excited for tomorrow." She said, grabbing a pair of white heels and placing them in front of my feet.
I suddenly felt scared, anxious for tomorrow. My father had invited many guests and with the rumors floating around, anything might happen tomorrow.
I wore the heels and admired myself in the mirror.
I felt proud for some reason. Proud that I didn't give up back then.
I smiled at myself, seeing a younger version of myself, from just a few days back, when I was devasted, but still didn't give in to the adversities.
"Ally would have been so happy, seeing you in this dress." I noticed a slight tremble in Bella's voice.
"You look beautiful, Lily. Just like your mother." I saw Mr. Wilson in the mirror, standing behind me. I passed a smile, this time not a fake one. He did only worry about his company, but he genuinely had loved mother.
I laid on my bed to get some rest before the big day. But I couldn't sleep.
Whyyy? Why, every time I have something important the next day, I can't sleep.
I got up and rested my back on the bed's headboard. What should I do now?
I could read the letters from the third box, but if I start I won't be able to stop.
Just then, my phone rang.
"Who could be calling so late?" I mumbled and got up from my comfortable bed.
It was Jacob? Why was he calling me at this time?
Don't tell me something happened. I immediately picked the call.
"Hello?" I said.
"Sorry, did I disturb you?" he asked. "Oh no, I was awake. Why haven't you slept yet?" I asked.
"I couldn't get any sleep, thinking about those letters."
I remained quite and then asked, "Do you want to read them now?"
"How will I... No, Lily. You need proper rest, for your marriage tomorrow."
"I can't sleep anyways, let's just meet up." I said. I imagined that he was thinking about it, since the line went silent.
"Alright. Let's meet in front of the market and we'll walk around the city then." he finally spoke.
"Yep, okay."
I changed into some casual and comfortable clothes. I stuffed the boxes of letter into a bindle bag and grabbed a torch light.
It wasn't really tough to get out, since I have been sneaking out in the night for years now.
I walked on the streets, to the market. The city was so soundless, I could hear my footsteps echoing, but at the same time, I liked the streets more at the night.
I reached the market and looked around. I guess he still didn't arrive. I sat on one of the benches.
I hate the feeling when I am nervous before something really important.
Was Andrew nervous too?
"Lily!" I heard a whisper from my right side.
It was Jacob. He wore fashionable clothes even at night. He had his hands in the pockets of his jacket. "Hey.." I got up.
"The city is scary at night. What's with the huge bag?" he asked, taking one hand out.
"The letters. They are quite a lot." I said.
"Okay, should we go to some night cafe?" He asked. "Okay."
"He wrote to her almost everyday." He grabbed another letter.
I was surprised he read so many letters in just half an hour. He checked his watch and looked at me.
"It's already 2. You should head back now, Lily. You need to sleep for tomorrow, or you would look like a zombie." he said.
I started laughing and said, "Then you can take the letters which you haven't read with you."
"Hmm, okay."
"You are coming tomorrow, aren't you?" I asked.
"Yeah, I am. I'll get Charlotte too, you guys need to get along."
"Alrighttt." I said.
He dropped me back to my house first and then left.
I sneaked back in from the back window and changed into my nightgown. I was pretty tired now.
"Lily? Have you woken up?" I heard someone in my sleep.
"Yeah, I'm.. I'm awake.." I slurred, still half-asleep.
"You need to start getting ready. You only have 3 hours left now."
I suddenly sat up and opened my eyes wide. Shit. I'm getting married today.
I stretched and called Bella in. I definitely wouldn't have woken up in time, if she didn't come.
I took a cool bath to calm my nerves and then got my makeup done. After that, the hairdressers arrived too.
After about 2 hours, all that was left, was wearing the huge dress.
"You can wear it after half an hour. Right now, please sit down somewhere or your hair will come undone." Bella handed me a glass of water.
"Okay okay." I sat down.
I did have silky hair so I understand why she told me that. The hairdresser sprayed a lot of hair setting spray because my some my front hair kept standing up and some of the back hair, falling down.
This was going to be one long, tiring day.
