I turned around to see who it was.
It was... Andrew? What was he doing here?
"Hey.." I said.
"Who might this be?" He looked at Jacob. "Okay, Jacob, this Andrew, my fiancé, and Andrew, this is Jacob, my friend." I said.
"Hey." Jacob said. Andrew nodded. "What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I was actually in my car heading back when I saw you. I thought of taking you with me since my father has been wanting to meet you. If you are busy, we'll go some other day." He said.
I looked at Jacob and he smiled, "Lily, it's fine. We'll talk some other time."
I sighed, "Alright. Bye."
I sat beside Andrew in the car in complete silence. His eyes were closed.
Was he sleeping? Probably not.
I looked at the busy people walking on the street and enjoyed the sunset. The sun was slowly going down and the street lights were turning on one by one.
Just then, I felt something fall on my shoulder. I looked to my side, Andrew had actually fallen asleep.
"You must be tired after work, huh?" I smiled. He was sleeping so peacefully and defenselessly.
I was happy that he was care-free with me.
Just then, I noticed his eyebrows still furrowed. I touched and slowly massaged his forehead. He relaxed his eyebrows and I looked outside.
I felt relieved to know that Jacob might be able to help me out. Until now, I had been so confused and stressed, but now I can finally take a breath.
Hopefully, I will be able to find the truth soon enough.
The car stopped in front of a large mansion. It had a different glow to it and lighted up all the area around it. There was a beautiful fountain right in our front. And behind that, two giant doors were closed, waiting to be opened. It looked like a mansion which was always mentioned in fairytales.
I gave Andrew a slight nudge and he woke up instantly.
"You fell asleep." I said. "Uh, yeah, I'm sorry about that." He apologized and we stepped out of the car.
I walked to the house while appreciating the relaxing sound of water from the fountain.
I entered the house and just as I had expected, it looked majestic, from outside as well as inside. Two maids greeted us and took our belongings. There were many ornamental objects around us and the tiles on the floor were so shiny, I could see my reflection on the them.
There was a huge chandelier, with numerous crystals hanging from the ceiling right above us. The interior had a yellow hue which gave a sense of warmth to the entire place.
There were two spiral staircases converging to a common area. I noticed a large painting with a lady and a man with two kids. I think it was Andrew and Oliver with their parents.
We walked into the living room where Mr. Anstey and a lady, who I think was Mrs. Anstey were sitting, chatting.
"Ah! Andrew. Finally, you are here. And this must be Lily." Mr. Anstey got up and walked towards me.
"My god, your beauty is simply spell bounding." the lady said and walked over to me as well.
I let out a laugh. "So, how have you been? Has Andrew been up to your expectations?" his father asked.
"I have been well, Mr. Anstey. And yes, Andrew has a been a great company." I replied.
"Great, great. And Lily, you can drop the formality. Think of us as your parents." His mother smiled.
I laughed again. It was going to be one awkward night.
After we had dinner, we all talked and learnt more about each other.
I went to the restroom and when I returned I heard Mr. Anstey.
"I learnt about her sister. She was attacked and the police didn't even bother investigating." his father had a serious tone.
The mood in the room changed and I remained quiet, behind the wall.
"I think her sister was involved with the mafia. She must have sold them out and hence they killed her. I saw some videos online and even Natasha told me so. I don't even know why you agreed to Wilson's condition. If her involvement with the mafia is true, you know how badly our reputation would be affected." His mother said.
"Don't talk like that! Her sister was a good person. All these are just rumors. How can you believe something so low like that?" I heard Andrew thunder.
"Andrew, that is no way to talk to your mother like that." Mr. Anstey spoke.
Her mother started talking again, "But son, what if-"
"Mother, no!" he shouted and he began walking towards my hiding place.
I moved back and tried to hide but he saw me. His eyes suddenly became full of guilt.
"Lily-" He said but I ran away.
For some time, I stood alone, at the balcony accompanied by the breezy winds and the celestial objects in the sky. I didn't want to think that was a possibility, that my sister was in some illegal work. She wasn't like that. Ally wouldn't have gotten involved with goons or mafia.
"Are you okay?" Andrew came up beside me.
"I'm fine, Andrew. Um.. Thanks for standing up for my sister back there." I sniffled.
He looked down and removed his coat. I observed his weird movement. Why would he remove his coat when it's this cold?
He walked behind me, put the coat on my shoulders and asked, "Better?"
"Uh, it's fine. I don't-" "Wear it. I can see that you're freezing."
"Thanks.." I said after a few seconds.
"I'm sorry you had to hear all that from my mother. But believe it or not, there are rumors floating around about your sister."
I had no idea about it. I thought the news about her death had already calmed down. Now, it was even more urgent to find the truth.
We spent the rest of our time gazing at the night stars and the big, full moon.
I don't know how, but I felt really comfortable and safe with Andrew. I think we were friends now. That's great.
I looked at him and...
