Chapter 4 - It wasn't your fault

"Yes, a deal. It will help you out with your father. And it will also help me get away from my father." I said.

He smirked, "You want to get away from your father? Why?"

"That's not important."

"Alright, so how is it going to help with my father?" He asked, closing the car's door.

"What I was thinking was we can have a marriage without feelings. It's just to please our fathers." I said.

"Hmm.."

"However, there are some conditions that need to obeyed in this "relationship" we are going to have."

"We'll discuss them the next time we meet. I'll send you a location in some time. Right now, I have to attend an important meeting. Farewell." He said.

"Bye.." I said and started walking back with pride.

For some reason, his expression became much more serious when he talked about work. He did look tensed. I think I know why Mr. Anstey was worried about him.

"So? How was the walk?" Mr. Wilson asked.

"I'm ready to marry him." I cracked a fake smile.

"Wonderful, Lily! Let's go, Isabella." He laughed and walked away with Bella.

That was a good deal I made. With Andrew's help, I can get away from Mr. Wilson and focus on finding Ally's boyfriend.

I reached her room and bent down to take out the boxes.

I raised the bedsheet and my eyes widened, the boxes were not there.

How?

Did Bella remove them?

She could've. It was pretty bizarre for me to check under Ally's bed out of nowhere, so, of course she would have also checked what I was doing.

Maybe she kept them in her room to view them later.

"Let's go find those boxes." I said and ran to Bella's room.

It was easier for me check her room since she went to attend the meeting with Mr. Wilson. I checked her whole room, even under her bed. But I couldn't find them.

"Oh shit! Did she throw them away?" I cursed and ran to check the garbage.

I sighed and found the boxes lying in the bin.

I grabbed them, disgusted, and went back to my room.

"I'm not even sure the letters are in here. But they're worth checking." I said and opened the first box.

It was a box full of letters, and so were the other two. I felt happy as I found the letters. I was a step closer to fulfilling her wish.

"That is a lot of letters he wrote to her." I mumbled and took one random one out.

It had a red stamp with the golden initials 'OA' engraved onto them. I wonder what that could mean.

I opened it and read the letter. It didn't have anything helpful. The next one as well.

But the third one gave me some information.

Dear Allison,

How are you doing? Today something amazing happened and you are the first one I want to tell.

My father has made it official. I'm going to succeed his company. I felt thrilled! I went for a drink with my little brother. However, there is one thing, I am not happy about. As I will start working more, I'll have lesser time which means I won't be able to meet you much often. ˙◠˙.

Hoping to meet you soon. Love you.

Warmly,

Your knight in shining armor.

So, his father is a business man and he has a little brother. Hmm...

It turned evening by the time I finished the letters in one box. I think there were about sixty of them. But only a few had major information.

I kept the boxes under my bed and went outside my room.

Just then, my phone ringed and I saw that an unknown number messaged me.

I opened it.

Unknown: Andrew this side.

Me: Hey?

I saved his number and another message pinged.

Andrew: I thought some more about your deal. Let's meet at XXXX. Around 4, day after.

Me: Alright

I reached the café he sent the location of.

He was standing right outside the door, waiting. What was his obsession with wearing suits? Couldn't he dress casually?

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting for long." I apologized. "Oh, don't worry. You are just five minutes late." Andrew stressed on the word 'just'. He smirked.

"Actually four minutes." I smiled back.

We walked into the café and ordered some coffee.

"So, what are the terms and conditions of our agreement?" He asked.

"Those are some heavy words. The first one, no feelings as I mentioned earlier. And second, we will not intervene in each other's personal life unless asked for help. That's all from my side." I said.

"I agree. My conditions are, when we go to a family gathering, we need to act like a married couple. And we need to maintain the family's reputation." He said.

"Agreed." I said, bringing my hand forward.

We shook hands and our coffee arrived.

"I feel like your sister was really a great person. I read about her a few days back and all the things she did for the society." Andrew brought up a sensitive topic.

But it really wasn't a sensitive topic for me. I loved talking about Ally.

I smiled and spoke, "Yes, she was the most affectionate person I knew. She corrected me whenever I made a mistake.. What about your brother?"

He looked at his coffee while gently moving the cup back and forth.

"It's fine if you don't want to talk about him. I understand, it is quite a fragile topic." I sipped my coffee.

"He was such a lively person. He even had a girlfriend whom he wanted to introduce. He was always there to support me... I failed to be a good brother. I failed to notice his feelings. I failed to know what was going on in his mind and led him to commit suicide." He held his head.

"Just so you know, it wasn't your fault at all. If he wanted to tell you, he would've." I whispered.

He gave a gentle smile. I hadn't seen him give such a genuine smile till now. I have to say, he was kind of attractive...
