Jovita's POV
I stared at the huge, white, beast in front of me, terrified. If I had looked away for a second, I would have sworn with the last fur on my body, though I was yet to have a single fur talk more of a last fur, that the beautiful, large, white, angry beast in front of me was Jayden.
He stared past me, his eyes focused on his mortal enemy, Uriel. Uriel stared back his amber eyes glowing in the dark, his posture motionless and ice-cold. He looked unreal.
I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that my childhood best friend was here in Foxtown. I had lived in California for a while before my family relocated to Foxtown. Uriel and I had attended the same preschool and bonded over the years until I left California. The last time I saw him was 14 years ago.
What was he doing here in Foxtown, and what was he doing here in the woods at this hour? From the last I could remember, he was a human. He had grown into a very attractive young man, and standing there in the shadow of the moonlight, staring intensely with his glowing amber eyes, he looked inhumane.
I was certain that the non-human figure standing a few feet away from me was not the innocent, four-year-old child I had spent my childhood with.
From his scent and look, I knew he was a cold one, but I wondered how he turned, had he been bitten or what?
Uriel had not known about my real nature. Being a werewolf was a secret in California. I had hidden my real identity from my classmates, who were mostly humans.
I heard a low growl behind me, and I turned to see Jayden charging towards Uriel. I gasped and planted my small self between. I was not ready for a blood bath, as that was mostly what happened in cases like this, and I so badly wanted to talk to Uriel, that could only happen if he was alive.
I turned to Jayden unsure of what to do, next to him I looked like a mouse.
I caught his eyes, and for a moment our eyes locked, it was amazing how his enormous size did nothing to affect the warmth and feelings in his hazel eyes.
I walked up to him, not knowing why, and was shocked to see his anger visibly waning. Did his Wolf listen to me?
When I reached him, I slowly patted his glowing white, long furs. He was the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen, and he was a great white. I didn't know betas could be great whites, that made a little sense when it came to his abilities, great whites were ten times better than normal werewolves.
I hugged him, startling myself about the fact that I was not terrified or running away, and I was hugging a guy, something I had never done, and kind of sworn never to do. I had a little concealed hatred for guys. Don't get me wrong, I still want to get married and have lovely kids, and yes, with a guy!
We stayed that way for a while, I forgot about Uriel and the interrogation I had wanted to carry out on him.
After a while, I slowly tried to pull away from the hug, but strong, hot hands held me in place. My heart almost jumped out because, from the last I remembered, I was hugging a huge wolf who couldn't hug me back, so where had hands come from?
I heard a low chuckle over my head.
"Huh, he must have read my thoughts again", I mumbled. This whole hearing my thoughts thing wasn't fair at all. Why does he get to hear my thoughts when I can't hear he's?
"Does it annoy you so much that I hear your thoughts?" He asked.
I thought of giving him a suitable reply like "Every woman needs her privacy, stupid!" But realized I couldn't, as my head was laying on his hard, chiselled chest, and my words would only come out as a muffled sound.
He must have heard my thoughts again, as he laughed out loud releasing me.
"You don't have to be so livid about it", he said with a smirk, his hot, perfect lips curved slightly. I didn't know I kept staring at them until he asked if I was a pervert.
"Huh?" I asked startled.
"Are you a pervert?" He asked again. You've probably succeeded in undressing me with just your thoughts".
I looked away embarrassed. He wasn't lying anyway. This was one of those vital moments when I craved privacy, and the rude, handsome, hot son-of-a-bitch just had to remind me that I couldn't satisfy that craving.
He slowly lifted my face to look at him, our gaze locked, and I felt a sudden rush in my veins, my heartbeat picked up in rhythm. I was shocked, I didn't know what I was feeling or why, but I was certain it had something to do with the hot dude in front of me.
He smiled at my reaction to his touch, his beautiful hazel eyes brightening.
I shut my eyes trying to still my ragged breathing, but opened them immediately when I felt a hot breath on my face. Jayden's lips were inches from mine!
If I had said my heartbeat increased in rhythm earlier, it would be an understatement compared to now.
I felt my body quiver with excitement and a rush of heat to my cheeks. I have never kissed anyone before, though I've waited a thousand years for that experience. And I was finally going to get it.
A laugh from Jayden.
"In your dreams", he breathed against my face, brushed his lips softly against mine, and… Well no ands, because when I opened my eyes he was gone.
My lips and cheeks still quivered from his touch.
"What a rude bastard, who did he think he was to toil with my hormones?" I thought angrily.
"I guess it was more than your hormones that reacted to his touch" my inner voice teased.
I shook off the annoying voice.
I turned around for any signs of Jayden but there was nothing. I gasped when I realized that Uriel wasn't where he had been standing either. I had completely forgotten about him. Jayden had probably already gone after him.
A shuffling in the grass alerted me that I had an unknown and probably unwanted company. Once again, I felt my heartbeat increase, but not out of love this time, but out of fear.
I shrieked as the intruder slowly edged out of the shadows, watching me.
