Chapter 7 - each time I see you...

Jovita's POV

I looked at Jayden perplexed, wondering what he meant by his question.

"I should be the one asking that question", I retorted.

He looked at me, his brows set in conviction.

I still couldn't wrap my head around whatever it was, he was insinuating.

I turned to go, deciding to ignore him, as I wasn't in the mood for company, but he grabbed my hands and wheeled me to face him.

As our gazes locked, turquoise in fiery hazel eyes, I felt a sensation rush through me.

"He is the one", a voice in my head whispered.

Ordinarily, I would have chastised myself for my negative thoughts, but at the moment, I stood, transfixed.

I tried pulling away but he held me back, his eyes glowing with determination.

"What do you want from me? I'm just an ordinary she-wolf, maybe a little below ordinary as I haven't even wolfed out yet", I said angrily. More like a bit angry, because his hazel eyes kept me transfixed and the sweet smell was sending signals to my brain, and my poor heart was beating louder than a talking drum.

"What's that thing", he asked, referring to my wolf, Ramiel.

I immediately got furious, how dare he call Ramiel a thing?

I stepped on his legs continuously, trying to pull free from his grasp, but he didn't budge.

"Gawd he was strong", I thought to myself.

I reached out for his critical point, and he released my hand immediately, whining in pain.

I was too lost in my joy of being free and did not notice I had sprained my ankle. He had realised too fast, and I had fallen on my side.

I tried to get up but fell back immediately, the pain was excruciating.

Jayden rushed to my side.

"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice sounding apprehensive.

" My leg hurts badly, I think I sprained my ankle".

He bent down beside me, slowly taking my leg.

"It might hurt a little", he said, trying to put the bone back in place.

I shut my eyes, holding on tightly to him. When I opened my eyes, he stared at me, his face inches from mine. Hazel's eyes looked even more beautiful from a close view.

I pulled back, not liking the look I saw in his eyes, not the way my heart was responding to it.

I was naive when it came to sex, but I knew when a man wanted me, and right now, he looked like he was restraining me so badly.

I tried to stand up slowly, then realised there was no more pain in my ankle. Did just heal me? I thought, stunned. There was no pain anymore, so it didn't make sense. He healed me and took my pain away.

Those were things only mates could. This whole stuff was driving me nuts already.

"I'm as confused as you", he said, replying to my thoughts. He was still kneeling on the floor, where I had been.

He picked up a twig and began to play with it, his muscles flexing with each little movement. Even though he was kneeling, he still looked intimidating.

He stood up, and took a step closer, his powerful form, towering over my small self. My body reacted immediately, I could feel my cheeks burning. I avoided his eyes, not wanting to be caught up in his spell.

He was dressed in a fitted denim jacket paired with a crisp white tee, worn-in sneakers, and laces loosely tied. His long, black hair fell to his shoulders. The evening wind blew a little hard, causing his hair to occasionally flap his face, making him reach out to put them back in place, his well-built, lean, tanned hands, glowing in the evening sun.

"I'm confused, I can hear your thoughts but you can't hear mine, my wolf gets hungrier and alive each time I'm with you, I can heal you and take away your pain, I can see visions of the future but I can't see yours, my heartbeat goes wild each time I see you, yet I can't seem to decipher, whether or not you're my mate, it meant to be easy", he said, sounding frustrated.

I stared at his handsome face, not knowing what to say, but my mind lingered on the words he had just said: "My heartbeat goes wild each time I see you".

He flinched, looking down shyly, and for the umpteenth time, I was reminded that he could hear my every thought.

"So you think I'm strange or something, or I'm playing with your feelings?" I asked.

He bent down to pick up another twig.

"I don't find you strange Jovita, I just wonder what it is about you that pulls me, that makes my wolf hungry and untamed". It's like we've known each other for a long time in the past, but yet I do not know you, something about you is just so elusive.

"I don't know what to say", I said, slowly, feeling very conscious under his piercing gaze.

"Maybe I'm just the one overreacting, you probably have that same effect on other guys too, seeing a vampire standing admiring you, rather than attacking you.

I sighed. I had almost forgotten about the vampire incident. I couldn't believe a vampire had been keeping me company only a few hours ago.

"I have to get back, it's getting late already", I said.

"How did you get him?" He asked, referring to Ramiel why are you here alone instead of going out with Seth to see the movies".

"My grandma told me Ramiel and I were born on the same day, and my mom left him as a gift and a way of connecting to her". About the movie, I didn't want to… I suddenly stopped realizing I missed the fact that he knew about Seth and's date.

He smiled a knowing smile.

"I know quite a lot, Jovita". You said it was late, let me take you home".

"I'll find my way myself", I replied rudely.

I said goodbye to Ramiel and turned to leave, expecting him to simply go his way, but I was left in shock when he swept me off the floor, onto his back, and took off running.
