Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31:Solo Mission 2

Okuagu after tying up some of the defeated bandits decided to head out for their leader. To his upmost surprise the leader had gained quite some distance and seemed to be riding nonstop. "Still not enough" Okuagu said out loud before he broke into a sprint, flaming patterns forming on his body as he travelled through the town like a fast moving flame. The bandit leader got off his horse sending it into a gallop, while he remained hidden in a small tree at the edge of the town. "After all these years, to think that my operations would be grounded by a single brat" lamented the bandit leader. His lamentations were interrupted by some footsteps that were slowly approaching his hiding place. "Great I'm finished! The bandit leader exclaimed as his cunning mind began to look for a way out of this problem. "I will just have to bribe the savage" he reasoned as it seemed his problem did have a solution after all. "Please take this gold and leave me alone" the old bandit cried out as he emerged from his hiding place holding a small pouch. "I have no need for that" replied a husky voice which to the old bandit's delight belonged to a gaunt man armed with a sword and not the accursed 'savage'. "Oh thank goodness you are here, now you can save….the bandit tried to say before a great sword split his head in two.

Okuagu arrived at the scene minutes after the bandit's murder. "Why did you kill him" Okuagu asked slowly removing his spear from his back. "That is none of your business" the stranger replied before he removed his sword from the deceased bandit's skull. "Suit yourself" Okuagu said with a shrug as he approached the deceased bandit's body. The stranger simply huffed and was well on his way out of there if not for a certain emerald gleam coming from Okuagu that caught his attention""Give me that amulet thief" the stranger said pointing his sword at Okuagu. "How dare you call me a thief; this amulet is my family's heirloom" Okuagu replied equally pointing his spear at the stranger. "You have no idea what you have gotten yourself into" the stranger said his eyes lighting up with bloodlust. "Shit" Okuagu exclaimed as countless invisible slashes tore through his body leaving him red with blood. "You are going to pay for that" Okuagu said as he dodged a mighty slash that would have decapitated his head. The stranger wasted no time and followed up with a kick to Okuagu's ribs. Okuagu blocked the kick with his palm; his fingers screaming in agony as they made contact with the stranger's foot. "My turn" Okuagu said as he tried to deliver a deadly stab to the stranger's side. The stranger sidestepped the attack but was thrown back by a kick strengthened by a huge amount of heat that almost seemed to be a wall stopping him from approaching Okuagu. "Neat" remarked the stranger he split himself into seven copies each armed with a terrifying great sword. "With their number I guess I can't rely on sensing their 'Heat signature' alone Okuagu reasoned as it seemed he was currently outnumbered and out matched. The first clone rushed Okuagu with a slash; which he dodged only for him to be sent flying with a kick from another clone. Okuagu got to his feet and feinted left before he delivered a powerful stab to one of the clone's neck. The clone simply brushed the spear aside with its palm before it slashed Okuagu on the shoulder. Okuagu yelled in pain, leaning backwards to avoid another fatal slash from another clone. Okuagu painfully gripped his spear as the shoulder wound healed slowly. The clones closed in on him hacking and slashing from all directions. "I need to get out of here" groaned Okuagu as he struggled to protect his vitals from the clones' merciless onslaughts. The flame patterns on Okuagu's body grew even brighter, as Okuagu slowly absorbed heat from the surroundings. His body was littered with many wounds now, some of which would have killed a normal human instantly. Okuagu was only alive due to his superior human physique and healing abilities. He however had long given up on winning this fight for he had come to realize two things about the clones. The first things Okuagu noticed was the seemingly un-killable nature of the clones as they ignored all mortal wounds (including burns) without ever for once slowing down. The second and scariest observation was the unreasonable cooperation the clones had, synchronizing their attacks like a pack of wolves. So Okuagu after seeing the low chances of him destroying the clones either physically or through his gift, had decided to retreat when an opportunity arose. "Now" Okuagu shouted to himself before he released a massive amount of heat energy throwing the clones back and destroying their body parts to reveal weird stone like gears and pieces. Okuagu of course had no time to dwell on this; for he had long took to the trees after the blast, determined to put as much distance between him and the horrid clones. The clone's bodies slowly reassembled back together in a matter of minutes, after which they pursued after Okuagu eerie smiles now planted on their faces.
