Chapter 33 - CHAPTER 33: Solo Mission 4

The stranger cleared his throat and continued: "I am only telling you this because I believe you shall be a great asset to the cult. Well the cult I belong to is the 'Cult of Order'; a secret organization that seeks to better humanity by the ruling of selected gifted individuals over non gifted individuals. That amulet is part of the relics needed for our cult's success. The stranger smiled and continued with his explanation "The village that you speak of or rather your village, refused to hand the amulet over to the cult. And as such were severely punished for their sins". The stranger paused in his explanation to observe Okuagu's reaction." So my village was destroyed because of your cult's selfish GOALS! Roared Okuagu as he struggled to get to his feet. "I guess that means you will refuse my offer to join our cult" The stranger said with a sigh as he slowly walked towards Okuagu. "Over my dead body will I join your cult" Okuagu growled his mind slowly being clouded with rage. "I guess that brings our little chitchat to an unfortunate end" the stranger added as he placed his sword's edge on Okuagu's neck. "I will tear you to pieces'' Okuagu said before he spat blood on the stranger's pale face. "How amusing" remarked the stranger laughing. "I will only say this once; join our cult and handover the amulet or Die!". "I will rather DIE!" Okuagu shouted before he broke into a maniacal fit of laughter. A small spark escaped from Okuagu's fingers, seconds before the stranger's face burst into flames. The stranger howled in pain before he slashed at Okuagu in a bid to take him down along with him. Okuagu winced in pain as the stranger's sword slashed his right shoulder widening the original wound on it. The stranger rolled on the ground screaming in pain as he furtively tried to quench the fire on his face that had now spread to his body, to no avail. Okuagu still remained on the ground as he watched the stranger with a mixture of pain and joy. After half an hour of struggling the stranger dropped dead, the skin on his body burnt off to reveal a ghastly skeleton. Okuagu stayed on the ground smiling faintly before he collapsed on to the ground unconscious. The stranger had only lost due to a crucial mistake he had made. After Okuagu had spat his blood on the stranger's face, he noticed to his greatest surprise a single gift pathway to the strangers face. This was as a result of the blood on the stranger's face and also from the fact that his entire body including his blood had a great affinity to fire and heat. At that point Okuagu had achieved a great breakthrough; which was the ability for him to generate fire from his blood whether the blood was within his body or not. It was at that moment he had seen another great use of the gifts pathway. The rest was rather predictable: Okuagu of course knew that the stranger would still deliver that slash whether or not his face caught fire. So using heat signature he had predicted the direction and speed of the slash from the blood flowing through his arm. Okuagu had then realized that the only thing he could do was change where the sword will strike his body. So just like that; Okuagu had through a thorough application of his gift won a seemingly impossible battle…Okuagu had at least now gotten information about the group behind the mad foreigner that burned his village. Though he was still not yet closer to the identity of the masked foreigner. All in all, the benefits of the battle outweighed the seeming losses.

Okuagu woke up some weeks later annoyed to find himself on the floor; his body covered in sand, leaves and dried up blood. "I at least expected to find myself in a cottage of some good Samaritan" Okuagu thought as he slowly got to his feet. On close inspection he found out that most of his wounds had healed pretty well with not a single sign of infection. "My healing ability is truly off the charts" Okuagu laughed, and picked his spear as he prepared to head to Jorgsville. "I wonder why the squad didn't look for me" reasoned Okuagu as he shook his head with a sigh…

The stranger's skeleton had nothing important on it save for the great sword which after a closer look, Okuagu found out had the same pattern as the mask of the foreigner that destroyed his village. "One day I will kill you along with your cult'' Okuagu said to himself, before the rumbling of his stomach distracted him from any further thought."Thank goodness there aren't any dangerous beasts" Okuagu thought as he searched for something to satiate his biting hunger.
