Blissful is not a word Quincy would use to describe the day he awoke into, especially the morning, as it brought him a very throbbing head filled with slight but excruciating tremors alongside an heavy heart, courtesy of the experience he had to go through the previous day.
Getting out of bed, he let out a grunt as he rubbed his aching forehead in a bid to soothe the pain. He heaved out a sigh as memories of the previous day pouted into his mind.
He couldn't help but wonder about the words of the mysterious girl. Hell he had forgotten to ask of her name which could be explainable as he was more focus on how not to die in the hands of the deadly creatures seeking his life.
"You are the Messiah and it is time you start acting like it." Those words just kept on replaying in his mind as he ponders deeply on what the girl implied.
She had also made mention of The Fates, whoever those was, and the gods.
"The Gods." Quincy scoffed as he stride into his bathroom. He was an atheist to begin with and he wouldn't bother himself with the nonsense some probably drunk girl spouted in her drowsy state. The only thing he would have to bother with now is the new year of his high school life.
School is hectic, a fact that even a nerd such as Quincy would have to agree to but it is even more hectic if you are the new student. For most of the years in his life, his mother had spent the better periods of them moving around; for what reason, he doesn't have a clue but what he does have a clue of is that this new school might be the next stage of hell he would be experiencing.
With his messy and unorganized thought, Quincy proceed to perform his activities for the morning before going off to school.
"Dude, it is the beginning of freshman year. A lot of fun to have and several ladies to befriend" A blonde boy said excitedly, grinning as he walks towards Quincy who is busy with arranging his locker.
"Are you okay? It seems like you are not getting enough sleep, I mean the anxiety of being a freshman tend to wear you down." The blonde stated worriedly with a frown as he noticed the dark circles around Quincy's eyes.
"I am fine Jake. I am just not psyched for school as you are and it might probably be due to the fact that I couldn't get enough good night sleep last night but overall, I am fine." Quincy reassures, trying his best to sound healthy when he clearly isn't.
"You don't have to worry Quincy. I gotcha, what are best buds for if I can't look out for you? Hey, don't you worry okay, trust me that Celestial Falls High School would be the best school you have ever attended. I will make sure of it." Jake said in a manner to cheer Quincy up.
"I sure hope so." Quincy replies as he closes his locker while putting some books into his backpack.
"Hey, what do you say that we actually go somewhere fun during free period. I promise it would be fun." Jake said with a naughty smile that got Quincy's hairs standing.
Quincy is now sure to be wary of any fun his best friend has planned for them. Well, considering that the last fun camping trip Jake managed to convince him to settle for turned out to almost led to his demise, he would be justify if he even refuse to accept any fun activities from Jake.
And from the look on Jake's face, Quincy could tell that the fun his best friend is referring to is one that would end up putting them, especially him who is a nerd, in trouble.
"No man. Thanks but I think I am good." Quincy declines as he strapped his backpack to his shoulder before resting against his locker. "And besides, I vowed to make good use of this year, not just for fun, but to achieve something meaningful. You should also try that soon."
"Come on, don't be a killjoy. You don't really want to be a party pooper now, would you?" Jake pouted childishly as he puts on a puppy expression in order to soften Quincy's mind.
"No! I have made up my mind and someday, you should try that too." Unfortunately, Quincy declines as he attempts to walk away from Jake when he suddenly exclaimed.
"OMG! I think this must be the season for high school hotties." Jake drooled, his sight not leaving the entrance of the hallway as he puts on a dreamy face. "I feel like I am in heaven."
Quincy halt in his step, turning to look at the usual childish expression on his silly friend's face, he soon trailed Jake's line of sight to the harem of girls walking across the hallway.
"Seriously dude, you really need to pull yourself together. No girl would admire you if you continue to act as childish as this." Quincy said trying to jolt his tranced friend back to life. "Besides, haven't you seen hotties before? What is so special about those girls?"
"I think I have finally fallen in love. Quick, take a look at that busty scarlet haired girl in their midst, isn't she attractive?" Jake could still not tear his gaze of the harem and his question couldn't bother Quincy who now fixated his gaze on the girl he ran into back at the woods with furrowed brows.
It was no coincidence. The same girl who had saved him is now standing a small distance away from him and before he could gather his thoughts, the scarlet haired girl turned to look at him as if sensing his gaze. She flashed a small smile at Quincy before she proceeded with her harem as they left the hallway.
If Jake was dreamy about stars when he looked at those girl, Quincy was staring blankly into space as he trailed the line of sight the girl just disappeared into. His eyes was filled with a million questions but his brain is troubled by her sight, what is she doing in Celestial Falls? And what the hell does she want with him?.
Immediately, memories from the previous day rushed into his mind as he ponders on the words she said to him. Seems like he would get the chance to really speak with her.
Finally succeeding in bringing his friend back to life,he pushed Jake away from the hallway as the bell ring, an indication to head to their classes for lectures.
