Paul immersed himself with his research and found much useful information in a weary short time.
He remembered that he would not have any tools and nothing to start a fire with, not to mention anything to help him gather or hunt some food.
The hours went by and he was still learning everything that could help him in the beginning of his new life.
Thanks to his excellent memory he managed to learn how to start a fire,craft tools from stone,make a rope,create a charcoal,use the clay to make pots,set up a trap,fishing and many more primitive but very useful skills that would help him survive in the first few weeks.
Paul knew that he would have a hard time in the beginning especially since he wouldn't have his wheelchair so he would have to crawl everywhere,but he was determined to do everything in his power to not repeat his past mistakes.
He was watching how to find and smelt some iron and copper when he heard a knock on the door and a moment after that the door was opened and Alice came in carrying a tray with his dinner.
Paul wasn't hungry but he knew better than to argue with her about his meals as it would cost more time and effort than it was worth and in the end he would always lose the argument.
He paused the movie he was just watching and went to have a meal.
The food was delicious as always and he ate everything knowing that there would be a long time before he could eat something as good again after tomorrow's event.
Alice was a little surprised that this time there was no argument and he even ate everything without a word of complaint.
This was a strange behavior for Paul but maybe he just learned that he couldn't win and decided to just spare himself from a pointless struggle.
She was happy that he finally stopped being stubborn, especially since she was worried that he didn't eat enough in the past.
After the plates were empty,Paul thanked her for the food and went back to the laptop since he still had a lot to learn and the time was running out.
Alice took the tray and left him alone when she saw that he was immersed in whatever he was doing.
Paul knew that there was no point in learning which plants were edible since in the new world most of them would be different and thanks to his family he never learned what plants were edible in the wild since he rarely went out of the house and even then he was always accompanied by a guard.
Back then he thought that it was for his protection,now he knew that it was to prevent him from running away.
That was the main reason that he decided to spend some time in the wilderness,the other was that he needed to heal his legs as soon as possible and get stronger before he even tried to go anywhere near a city or a village.
He already had a plan for that but he would need time and he was sure that if he got back with the family then he would end up just like the last time and he had no intention of checking if he can get the third attempt if that happened.
After learning some smelting and metalworking skills he started learning how to build a simple shelter for himself and some basic weapons crafting as he would need a way to defend himself and it would be hard for him until he could walk again.
Hours went by one after another and before he knew it it was already time for supper which was also brought by Alice but this time she wasn't in her maid outfit as she had already finished work and she was wearing a casual summer dress that made her look fresh and energetic.
She still came to have a chat with Paul since she was not working right now and the order to not talk to him didn't have any effect in her free time.
-What are you looking at the whole day?
She asked curiously as she knew that he rarely used a computer and today he spent a whole day using it.
-I'm just doing some research on survival and bushcraft.
P:aul answered between the bites of his meal.
-Why would you need to research that?
She was stunned as this was the first time he had shown interest in such a thing.
-I'm thinking of writing a book that centers around this topic.
He lied knowing full well that she would believe it or at least wont think he's crazy like she would if he told her the truth.
-That sounds interesting,will you let me read it once it is finished?
She asked,she loved to read and it would be her first time to read a book before anyone else.
-Sure, but you will have to wait for it to get done and for now i didnt even start to write it yet.
Paul said,amused at her reaction.
He knew well that she loved to read books or to be more precise, she was addicted to it.
Unfortunately this scenario they would be living through and there was no ending in sight as he had lived in another world for ten years and all he heard from outside was how thousands of people died every day.
He never fought using his powers because he was too important for the family to potentially lose him in a fight and also the more isolated he was the easier it was to control him and ultimately end him once he grew too strong or tried to rebel against them.
This time around he would try his best to change that as only with a real experience could he live free and decide his own fate.
He knew that it would be dangerous and he might die but he preferred death while trying to once again become their tool and dying after the betrayal of a woman he fell in love with.
She was also on the list of the people that would pay the price for what she had done to him.
-Then when will you start writing it?
Alice asked not knowing what he was thinking about.
-In a few days,once I have enough material and knowledge for the plot to make some sense.
He lied again.
It was fortunate that she could never tell when he was lying,not that he lied to her often.
As his only friend and someone he treated as a big sister whenever she wasn't working,he didn't want to lie to her but this time he had no choice as she definitely wouldn't believe him if he told her the truth.
After some more chatting he asked her to get him some paracord as he wanted to test something out.
She agreed and said that she would bring it to him in the morning when she came with the breakfast.
A few minutes later they said their goodbyes and she left with the tray of empty dishes.
Paul continued to learn about survival and crafting until the other maids came in to help him get a bath and change into his pajamas.
The two maids were also quite young and pretty but they always treated this part of the job as an unpleasant chore that they wanted to finish as soon as possible.
So in less than twenty minutes he was already washed and changed as he didn't want to make their lives any more difficult than he had to.
The next day in the morning,Alice came with the food and a roll of paracord that he asked her for.
Paul knew that he had little time as it was already 8:00 am so he finished breakfast and started to work on his little project.
Alice went back to work after she brought him a few plastic buckles that he asked for.
He started by watching the video once more just to be sure that he remembered it correctly and then he started to make a bracelet from the paracord.
It went slowly at first but in a few minutes he managed to create one that fitted perfectly on his wrist.
After that he made another one for his other hand and two more that he wore on his forearm.
The last one he decided to turn into a belt if he had enough time.
The crafting of the bracelets took him about two hours and now he had an hour and a half before the event and if he didn't manage to finish it then it would disappear.
He could only take a thing that he was wearing on himself,meaning his clothing and some jewelry and trinkets.
That was the reason he started to craft the bracelets and the belt as having some paracord would help him a lot in the coming days.
