Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 After the battle.

When he woke up it was already morning of the next day and his wounds managed to close on their own as they weren't too deep.

Recollecting what had happened the previous day,Paul was stunned at how calm and collected he was during the fight.

This was his second encounter with beasts and this time there was no one to save him but he managed to survive and kill off the rabbits.

Only now did he start to shake and felt fear,as if there was only one more rabbit ,he would be dead right now.

However it seemed that his luck was good as even after the battle there were no more beasts nearby.

Looking around he saw quite a bit of blood splattered on the grass and on himself so if there was a beast nearby then it would be drawn here by the scent of blood.

Paul collected the carrots for which he almost died and now they were his spoils since he defeated the rabbits guarding them.

Moving around wasn't easy for him to begin with and now that he had many injuries it became even harder but he slowly crawled back to his shelter.

It took him almost two hours to get back when it took him less than one to get to the place where he encountered the blood rabbits.

He was exhausted when he got back so he drank some water from the river and washed the dried blood from his body and clothes and went to sleep, not even bothering to restart a fire that went out the previous day.

He slept for another day before he woke up and felt much better.

As he dragged himself out of his shelter the first thing he did was to quench his thirst and then he went about to restart his fire.

It took some time especially when his arms hurt like hell with every move but he needed some food and to eat something he first needed to roast it.

The moment the fire was going he took out a fish from his storage space and put it by the fire.

The great thing about the storage space was that it keeps everything in the same state as you put it in.

When the fish was roasting he went to see if there was something in his traps and he found five fish in them but two of them were too small so he tossed them back into the river.

He took the other three which were quite big and after killing and cleaning he put them into his storage.

After resetting the traps he went back to eat the fish that was roasted but it turned out that one fish wasn't enough to satisfy his hunger and he started roasting another one.

After having his fill,it was time to get to work on the rabbits as he had to gut them and skin them.

He saw how to do it before the new beginning but it was the first time for him to do it himself.

The work was disgusting at first and it almost made him puke but as he got to work on the third and fourth rabbit it became more bearable.

By the evening he had seven rabbits along with their skins and he even found a spirit stone in one of them which surprised him.

The spirit stones were usually found in spirit beasts which managed to evolve by accumulating Qi in their bodies.

This stone was small as it was the size of Paul's fingernail and it didn't have much energy stored inside but nonetheless it was a spirit stone which meant that this rabbit must have evolved.

Only now did he realize just how lucky he was that this beast was the first one he killed.

If it didn't die first then the outcome of their fight might have been different.

The spirit stones were used as a booster in cultivation as most cultivators would be able to assimilate some of their power to quickly enhance their own cultivation but a normal cultivator could at most get 10% of the power residing in the stone before it all dissipated.

Even then the spirit stone from a powerful beast could allow one to rise a few stages on the beginning levels or help them raise a level or two on the higher levels.

But thanks to his physique,Paul could assimilate the whole thing and get much more Qi.

Also the meat from a spirit beast contained quite a bit of Qi in it and when eaten it would be absorbed, boosting the cultivation speed even more.

Paul decided that this rabbit would be dinner tonight and he would use its stone when he cultivated that night.

Of Course there was no way for him to eat the whole rabbit at once so he divided it into portions,he did the same with the other rabbits and stored them into his space not leaving anything as he had a use in mind for every part of them.

As he managed to find a lot of firewood before his encounter with the rabbits he decided to stay in his shelter today and craft some more weapons as the ones he used before were already broken.

This time his arsenal was much bigger as he made a half a dozen short spears, another hatchet and many throwing stones with sharp edges.

He was so immersed in his work that he didn't notice that it was already evening by the time he was done.

Paul roasted both hind legs of the spirit beast rabbit and had eaten one for his supper however it turned out that it was too much for him as he only managed to eat half of the leg before he was full so he put the other leg back into storage and left the half eaten one over the fire to keep it warm as he suspected that he might be hungry after the cultivation.

After that he again stripped his clothes and started to cultivate Qi using the spirit stone he had found.

This time the progress was much faster and the amount of energy that he could assimilate also increased.

Paul had no idea why that was but he wasn't going to complain.

The spirit stone lasted for two hours before it was wholly absorbed and turned to dust but in that time he managed to gain three stages and when he finished his Qi cultivation he was already at the nineteenth level of the body cleansing stage.

He managed to achieve this level way faster thanks to the spirit stone and the meat of the spirit beast.

After he washed his body of the impurities that were discharged he sat by the fire and started cultivating Mana.

The flow and assimilation of mana was also increased and he didn't know why but he suspected that it had something to do with the battle he had fought.

By the end of his cultivation he had reached the fifteenth level of the apprentice stage which was way faster than he had predicted.

-I thought that it would take me at least a month to reach level fifty but at this rate I will get there within two weeks.

Paul said to himself, smiling.

He was more than happy with his progress as once he reached level twenty in Qi cultivation he would be able to use some of his Qi to strengthen his body during a fight.

It would only slightly increase his strength but it was always better than nothing.

Another side effect of his cultivation was the healing of his wounds as they started to heal much quicker than normally.

This was something that was normal as the higher the cultivation the more resilient the body was and it also regenerated faster.

Sadly this only applied to the external wounds at the beginning so it did not improve the condition of Paul's legs.

After the cultivation was finished Paul felt really tired and sleepy so he went to sleep almost immediately after he got into his shelter.
