Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 The new beginning once again.

Paul managed to finish the belt with just three minutes to spare so without any delay he put it on and waited for the event..

With the four bracelets and a belt he managed to use up around 150m of the paracord which could be used in many ways, other than that he was also wearing military style pants and shoes.

Alice wasn't too happy that he wanted to wear those but she agreed to help him put them on,since he stopped arguing with her over the food and he was also planning to write a book about survival that must have been a part of his research.

The last three minutes felt like hours but finally noon came and the event started.

The flash of bright light enveloped the whole planet and everyone was transported to one of the circular platforms suspended in a white space.

All of the people were suspended in midair and couldn't move their bodies aside from their heads.

Almost everyone was panicking and demanding to know what the hell was going on?

-Silence.

Came a powerful voice, its tone calm but demanding absolute obedience.

Everyone momentarily shut up and looked at the source of the voice.

It turned out to be an orb of light levitating in the middle of the platform.

-You will be transported to a new world to start from the beginning and to compete with each other and with other races.

The orb announced without any emotion detectable.

-You will all be permitted to bring just the clothes you have on you and if you happen to not have any then they will be provided to you.

All of you have been tested and have received a status window which contains all your information.

This window will appear once you say status.

All of you will be given an inventory space that you can use and inside it you will find a scroll containing a basic cultivation technique and an introduction to the cultivation of Qi for warriors and mana for mages.

Now you will all be sent to a random spot in the new world, try to survive.

With that the orb started to fade.

-Why is this happening ?

One of the people asked and the orb lit up again.

-Because the gods demand it to happen.

-Can we choose a place that we will be sent to?

Paul asked.

-You can choose but in that case you will have to choose a place at least twenty kilometers away from the nearest settlement.

The orb answered after a moment.

Paul was happy that he asked and even more happy that no one of his fathers family was on the same platform as him so they would never know that he deliberately chose to be sent far away from them.

-What about our families? Will they be scattered all over the planet?

A woman asked, visibly panicking.

-Your families will be sent in the same area as you so it is possible to find them or if you are lucky then they will be sent with you.

The orb said and the woman calmed down a bit.

-I won't answer any more questions, those that want to choose their drop point can look at the map in their status window and find a suitable location, the rest will be dropped randomly.

After saying that the orb of light disappeared.

Most of the people decided to take their chances, only a few like Paul opened the map that appeared in their status window and had chosen where they wanted to be dropped.

Paul had chosen a place close to the sea and at the river bank which provided him with more resources and a source of drinkable water.

The place was also located inside a forest which was also a good place for gathering resources.

Before he finished choosing the right spot almost all of the people were already gone from the platform.

The only ones left were the ones that decided to choose their drop spot.

After deciding on a spot Paul disappeared from the platform and appeared at the bank of the river.

The place was desolate and according to the map he was at least fifty kilometers away from the nearest settlement.

He landed on the grass with a thud and just as he suspected the bracelets and the belt were in place.

Right now his priority was to start a fire and build a shelter for the night before he could do anything else.

He started crawling around the bank looking for a suitable rock that he could turn into a primitive knife.

It didn't take him long to find some rocks and when he had five of them he sat under the tree and started working on them.

He used one rock to hit another and after a few tries he finally got a sharp edge which he could use for now.

He put the rest of the stones into his storage space and started crawling around to gather some firewood and some branches that could be used as building materials.

Looking at the sun he figured out that he had at most a few hours of sunlight left and he had to finish his tasks before it was dark.

Crawling was unpleasant and tiring but in around an hour he managed to find quite a bit of fire wood that now resided in the storage and some branches he could use to build a shelter for himself.

He also found many stones and collected them as well. They could be used as throwing weapons if he really needed to fight off some weaker beasts.

After collecting the required materials he got back to the river bank and quenched his thirst. The water was cold and clean not to mention refreshing.

Paul knew that it was not a smart move to drink it without boiling but for now he had no choice as he had nothing to boil it in.

Next on the list was to build a small shelter that would at least mask him from the surroundings and hopefully protect him from the elements.

It took him a long time but after a few hours of hard work he had something like a roof that he could hide under.

The next task was to start a fire and that was also challenging since he would be doing it for the first time.

He took a branch that was somewhat elastic and made a bow with it,using some paracord from his bracelet.

Then he used his stone knife to split a dry branch down the middle to create a plank and carved a small, shallow hole in it with a notch on its side.

Paul used a smaller branch to craft a spindle and prepared the kindling in advance just like in the video he watched the day before.

When all the preparations were complete he used the tool he had just created.

The first few tries were difficult and ended in failure but after a few tries he finally figured out how to do it without using his leg to hold the plank in place.

He sharpened a few sticks and used them to immobilize the plank by sticking them into the ground around it.

It took him a few more tries but when the sun was about to disappear over the horizon he had finally managed to create an ember.

Carefully he placed it into the kindling and started to blow on it gently,a few moments later he had a flame which he quickly put next to the small, dry twigs that he had prepared earlier and in a few minutes he had a bond fire lighting up the darkness that was enveloping the forest.
