"SO THIS is real! This is so awesome!" Wren excitedly exclaimed.
Obviously, he had been processing so many memories and information for more than an hour now but what he focused more on was the wide history of this so-called new Earth that the original lived in.
But this excitement didn't last long when he also realized a horrifying fact from the original's memories.
He. Was. Freaking. System-less!
The original was actually among the unlucky one percent among the one hundred who had a chance of awakening a god system. In other words, the original, which has now become his body, is a system-less.
To give you some heads up on why Wren feels this way, it was because, through the original's memories, Wren had found out something interesting and extraordinary about this world's Earth.
The aforementioned "God System" that was bestowed on humans by the gods and goddesses from different mythologies all through the Earth was a system that allowed one to manifest skills, power, talent, and strength from the chosen god or creature to the person they favored.
At the age of eight, a child must have their blessing ceremony to see if they can have the favor of any gods by coming to any temple to offer a prayer and worship. Then the high priest in that temple will help with the blessing ceremony.
And if the child gets a blessing, a blinding light will enshroud the child—the brighter the light, the higher the chance that they will awaken a powerful god system.
Also, there are different colors that may appear. The color will become the basis of what type of god the child will have once they awaken the system. For the record, the lighter the color of the light, the higher the chance that they will receive a blessing from sentient gods, while the darker the color of the light, the higher that it will be a blessing from the creatures of the dark.
But whatever it is—may it be a sentient god or an evil god—as long as they can awaken a god system, their lives will surely become smooth sailing.
Each person can only awakened once and manifest one godly vessel that will become available in their system. It was because those sentient gods are afraid that if they let everyone have more than one godly vessel, the law of order might intercept again.
So in history, only the first people who first awakened the god system were able to have two to three godly vessels registered in their system and they were also the only people lucky enough to be allowed to use more than ten skills of those gods without the need of leveling up.
Anyone who can awaken the god system is called an awakened and can register in any hunter guild. Hunter guilds are associations that handle different hunters. Each city can only have one hunter guild authorized by the hunter association.
Hunters are any registered awakened with a god system that is authorized to help explore and hunt monsters in the dungeons inside the dungeon tower. In this way, a hunter can also level up.
There are different hunter classes, divided according to what category their god system falls under. The lowest are E-class hunters, and the highest are S-class hunters. And according to this class system, these hunters can enter a higher level in the dungeon tower.
The first categorized system is when the god system awakens a mythical creature in the beast form called the fourth-class god system, also known as the beast class. The hunters who awakened these classes were ranked the lowest, with only E-class as their starting point, while they could only level up to D-class as their optimal rank.
The third-class god system, also called the lesser class, is a category of the god system in which the awakened mythical being is in a human form from tales and fables. This also includes those mythical beasts that can shift, such as werewolves, mermaids, and dragons. Hunters who had awakened these beings had a starting rank of D-class as the lowest and could level up to B-class as the optimal rank.
Next is the divine class or second-class god system. From the name itself, this classified system is comprised of hunters who awakened divine gods and deities. Their class usually starts with B and the optimal rank is S-class.
Lastly, there is the universal class or first-class god system. Different from the divine class, all the gods that can be awakened were all primordial gods and beings that was widely known on Earth back in peaceful times.
This form of classifications will also be the basis for an awakened hunter what level of the dungeon they can enter from the dungeon tower. Each dungeon tower is divided into four levels appropriate to the four classifications of the god system.
The level one dungeons were usually the ones from the first floor up to the twenty-fifth floor and hunters with F-class up to D-class are usually the ones gathered in here.
Level two dungeons, on the other hand, were normally handled by hunters from C-class and B-class. It goes around from the twenty-sixth floor to the sixth floor of the dungeon tower.
Following that, dungeons from the sixty-first floor to the ninetieth floor are level three dungeons that are naturally explored by hunters with A-class to S-class.
And as the dungeons above ninety, only those with S-class can enter these floors from the dungeon tower.
The dungeon tower is a very tall tower that suddenly appeared in different parts of the Earth after the humans destroyed all the dungeons that appeared in that dungeon break more than three hundred years ago.
It was with the help of all saints and hunters, with powerful gods as their hosts, that they assisted in bringing all the remaining dungeons inside a tower. And every time a dungeon appears, they will also have to bring it to the tower after they have ventured out. That's why the dungeon tower becomes so tall that each tower has at least a hundred and two levels at most.
All of this information is crucial knowledge that the original Wren eagerly studied but ended up becoming a system-less. And Wren Adams felt the same because this was what he was excited for after learning the ups and downs of reincarnating in this world.
And yet, it was quickly taken away from him just because the body in which he reincarnated was system-less.
Growing up in an orphanage, the original Wren Adams wasn't given a chance to enter a temple to worship when he was eight. Despite not knowing if he was blessed by the gods, Wren was still eager to study the god system, dungeons, and being a hunter.
That's when he started to earn money at the age of ten; he would gift himself a book about this and that to study on his own. And this would always bring joy to him.
After all, with how hard his life is as an orphan, this hope—that he would become a hunter in the future—was the only light in his gloomy life. But that hope was broken when he took a test when he turned eighteen and was announced as an ordinary human without a system.
Wren did not immediately lose hope. After all, it might be because he was among those late bloomers so he continues to take tests but every time, it will only say that he's system-less.
It took him almost three years of having a fruitless result before this small hope shuttered completely. From working hard to earn money to sustain himself and his dream, as well as the orphanage, Wren overworked himself to his own death.
The possible reason that the Wren Adams from the far past was able to reincarnate in this body was probably because the original died of exhaustion from doing many jobs and side jobs.
"This can't be done," Wren muttered seriously.
He lazily laid down on the bed on his back. He used his hands as his pillow and he stared dazedly at the roof of his room.
Just as he had introduced himself, he really can't let himself suffer. If the original can handle the hard work, Wren couldn't do it. How can he wrong himself?
He might have grown up alone and on his own, but Wren knows that in those alone years of his life, he never felt the sadness and loneliness one may feel growing up as an orphan. He was able to live freely and easily, how can he let himself suffer now?
Especially with how exciting and interesting this world is. This world was completely to his liking. Not only because it is very magical with systems and powers, but most importantly, because his hobby of which related to the mythology that he had been studying since he remembered was very helpful in this world.
He could be a trainer or a teacher in which he could share all his knowledge about those beings and creatures. Just by telling them something about the skills and powers of any gods and mythical creatures, he could earn as much giving him an easy life.
But even if he could do that, Wren didn't want to remain like that. Isn't it more fun to put all that knowledge into himself than to share it?
So Wren wasn't reconciled with only knowing. He was now given a chance to experience them himself. It wouldn't hurt if he wanted more than what was given to him.
After all, it wasn't his goal to suddenly reincarnate in this place and in this body. He was still having the time of his life in his former world without any sickness or fatigue so it was really questionable that he was suddenly reincarnated.
So isn't it just right for him to wanting more than what was laid in front of him? Treat this as a compensation gift from those people who forcefully took him to this place.
Wren abruptly sat on the bed with his feet in a crossed-leg position. His back is ramrod straight, while both his hands are laid on top of his knees.
He once again rummaged through the original's memories and tried to find something helpful. When he found it, he took it and carefully studied it.
After a while, Wren took a shaky breath. He closed his eyes and after counting one to five, he slowly opened them up again. Then with a determined face, Wren followed the guide on how to activate the system—if one has.
"System activate."
Wren subconsciously held his breath. In his mind, he started counting as his hands which was never sweated in his original body but now, it only took a second before it started to form a sweat.
He already knows that this new body he has is system-less. According to the study, if a person doesn't awaken until age twenty, he will never awaken for the rest of his life. It was because those mythical beings were never the fickle type who would change their minds. If they didn't give any blessings on the day they were offering in the temple, then they will never help that person awaken a system, however likable the person becomes.
But Wren has many what-ifs. If they were real gods, they might have realized that the soul inside this body was no longer the old Wren but a new one. And just the fact that these sentient beings might have a relationship to how and why he was reincarnated.
So what's wrong now if he hoped?
A suspicious buzzing sound was heard and a blue holographic screen appeared in front of his face, startling Wren from his nervous stupor.
The words shown in the interface are not readable for a moment because of slight glitches, like some computer screens having an error.
It was only when the buzzing sound stopped that the glitching also stopped. And that's when Wren finally read the text written on the screen.
[God system number 000 is now activated.]
